Can't believe i'm just now seeing this. What a piece of Art. From the handle to the blade and spike it's amazing. Also a pleasure to watch it being made
So - question: The neck of the handle of a ball-peen hammer seems a bit fine for the use an axe would get - I've cracked BP handles by not being careful-enough with them. > Have you had any problems with that (I've never made an axe that didn't end up getting thrown) - ?
Beautiful work, love the repurposing of old steel. I'd like to do this but dread the idea trying to forge it out by hand with the little skill I have. Out of curiosity what ended up going wrong with the first handle?
Все понравилось, но проушина узкая надо было расширить, ручку лучше как на томагавке без клина, и термообработка, закалить надо было только лезвие, а так форма красивая респект 👍
This is exactly the blade and spike shape I have for a future project, well executed!
Super cool brother.
Thanks brother!

It's nice to hear work being done. It adds to the job at hand
What was the stuff you sprayed in it to turn it black?
Cold bluing solution, it's usually used on gun parts to protect the metal against rusting.

Subbed.
It looks like a bluing solution. Could also be a oil based paint in a spray. Although looking at the end product, I’m betting on a bluing finish
One of the coolest axes i have seen. Love it.
It looks like a pirate’s boarding axe but so very awesome to see how you made that nice work
I can’t believe with all the videos and creators I’ve watched I’m just now seeing this and you. That is a fantastic piece and build. Great job!!!
Thanks so much 😊
Now that is unreal! Great work.

Other than pie I think that's probably the best use for a pumpkin .😂
What a great transformation, we'll done.
Fine, fine work!
Turned out great! That's actually one of the things I'm planing to do, only by hand, don't have a press, yet!
Good job! Subbed

Have you had any problems with that (I've never made an axe that didn't end up getting thrown) - ?
could you have used the vinegar & steel wool wood stain trick to get all of the handle blackened?
Very nice
How does one purchase said perfection?
Awesome ❤
Could be a good production line item
Oooh brother wondering if ya could do a Dwarven axe or viking and wondering how much would ya sell it for me bubba that is awesome awesome work

Thank you! Ya I love those old USA made hammers. The hang was loose and the top of the handle was broken.
Great video! Love watching all your stuff man! Hope to buy a knife one day (If I can find one in stock). Thanks!
Thanks Willard! I appreciate that. I really enjoy making these videos.
I need one of these for the zombie apocalypse
Maybe two!
Not ideal for that

Beautiful axe, just feel you should have opened up the eye for a sturdier handle.
Curtis, what size and brand of power hammer are you using in this video?
It’s an old Kinyon style power hammer I got from Burt Foster.
Nice. How much you charge to make one?
Great 👏👏
Thanks!
Can I ask, why did you harden the entire axe? Didnt you want some flex if you are throwing that beast?
man... I REALLY want to forge this, but I don't have a press or a pneumatic hammer... is it possible to do by hand? Beautiful work too, by the way.
@@KOTEC525 ABSOLUTELY. Might be good to get a friend to help with a sledgehammer doing the heavy lifting at the beginning
@@CurtisHaaland good point... holding it while hitting it with a short handled sledge would be a bear.
I always thought it was called a ball ping hammer 🤔
Appropriately it's already drawn blood.
If you were really my friend you would make me one.
This Is the lazy man's way to craft.🎉

I tried to do this once with an old ball peen head from my grandfather's tool box, and it just crumbled.
Should have left the charcoal in it😂
How can order an axe
Didn't realise that ball pein and ball peen are the same thing.
Que medida tiene el martillo
I can’t quite remember!
wow amring
Thanks man!
