  • With a history deeply intertwined with the brand since the late 1990s as a former American Suzuki - Team Suzuki Sports supported sportbike drag racer, Brock's connection with Suzuki runs deep. As the proud owner of Brock's Performance, his unwavering passion for the Hayabusa speaks volumes, considering it has remained the go-to bike for aftermarket parts since his incorporation in 2002.
    So how does Brock feel about the "new Busa"? As a performance enthusiast, he candidly admits that initially, he wasn't particularly fond of the machine's arrival. However, tireless product development, an infusion of dedication, and sheer determination has transformed his perspective.
    We invite you to experience this captivating journey: Can Brock unleash the true potential of a Gen 3 Suzuki Hayabusa #stupidfast?

    Suzuki is more than capable of building a 300hp Busa. The regulations, laws, lawyers and most importantly, having to warranty it are where the constraints come in. Every major manufacturer is capable of the same as well. I've been in the bike business for 32 years as a tech, service manager, operations manager, Manufacturer rep and owning my own shop and the 1 thing consistent across the board is OWNERS NEVER ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND EXPECT THE MANUFACTURER TO WARRANTY EVERYTHING. Was that way 32 yrs ago when I started, still like that today.

      H2 or H2 SX SE, loved my 20 SE, 3 years had it they are just flat out awesome sold it and just very happy now w collector ZX11 awaiting new Galespeed wheels. It does everything I need it to. Hard to explain how much better they are over both the ZX14 and Busa unless you are seeking the ultra fast top end. But for daily riding they are just better and hide weight so much better plus you can tune them as well

    Thank for sharing! And praise your courage to show how work in progress progresses - most don't do anymore, a pitty!
    And we hope you'll make more than 220hp soon - the number would help to sell more kits quite a lot. (1)(Maybe a 'little more cam' would still be necessary? Than more courage.)
    And two - I think we shouldn't forget to praise the Suzuki tech guys here too - their stock cams are small and still perform. I hadn't even believed them for being good for 199 hp - 'because they look more like 177 hp' (don't they?).
    1 - I would just as well like to see a coming 'Brocks Performance Hayabusa 230 hp guaranteed' kit available - all tested parts and components in one kit - maybe an even better selling name for it and a price premium. 'The one and only true 230 hp kit in the market'.
    Current Busa: Bore x Stroke 81 x 65 mm, 1.340 ccm @9700/min
    230 hp equals 172 hp per 1000 cc - should be possible @ 11k or 11.5k rpm? (If crank/piston/rod are good for 24 m/s like with S1000RR) - The Busa comes with +34% displacement like a S1000RR - that's why about 10% more hp than the S1000RR ('230 hp instead of 207 hp') should be possible - even without shiftcam - and at lower m/s piston speeds.)

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  23 дні тому +1

      More rpm is a dangerous slope on the Gen 3 engine as Suzuki techs squished it pretty tight to get it to run ok with the dinky cams...as well as to help it pass emissions, I'm sure. 11.5K is where we are now and the piston to head clearance is about as close as I'm comfortable with.

    Great video and seriously thinking about this with the short stacks, but I gotta admit I was all googoo over the red 14 in the back ground lol. What would this same cam shaft replacement do for the 14R and how much of a colossal pain in the butt it would be, can you even do it without dropping the engine? Apples to Apples...

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  6 місяців тому +3

      The 14 doesn't have emissions camshafts. Switching to race cams can increase performance in stock engines, but it typically comes at the price of decreased reliability. The exception to this is if the OEMs designed the race cams for the application, such as ZX-10R kit cams.

    to do this replacement job of cams do you charge by the job? or do you assign a certain amount of hors and then bill by that.Oh yeah i like to do my own work when possible -- - but i own a Harley, much, much simpler But not as fast LOl

    Great job 👏,but can this bike now run on the" super stock "class? Can it pass the rules?

  • @kennethcarmack8031
    @kennethcarmack8031 7 місяців тому +2

    Pretty cool. Hopefully XDA will allow this in the rules. Maybe a gray area, but to make it fair may have to allow all bikes to put aftermarket cams in with stock cam timing.
    Preciate the info as always Brock.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 місяців тому +1

      Since the G3 Busa is the only bike in the SS class with neutered camshafts...seems like "fair" would be letting the Busa have aftermarket performance camshafts too? Unfortunately, your suggestion for OEM cam timing with aftermarket cams can't usually work as the longer duration creates piston to valve clearances that are too tight, which could lead to piston to valve collision - resulting in catastrophic engine failure.

    • @garypurnell5948
      @garypurnell5948 6 місяців тому +1

      I disagree. This should not be allowed as SS was a factory spec class. Certain motorcycles have certain advantages. Unfortunately, this model lacks the needed performance to compete with the other brands running the class. Fair would be allowing this for the entire class.

    • @garypurnell5948
      @garypurnell5948 6 місяців тому +1

      Also, if Patrick has been 8.80s at 160mph his performance is in line with the rest of the field.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  6 місяців тому +2

      His best pass in perfect conditions can not be used as a class comparison. His results in the class, on the same track and conditions shows he's bringing a knife to a gun fight as a result of environmental regulations that do not apply on the race track

    • @garypurnell5948
      @garypurnell5948 6 місяців тому +1

      This would open the door for other platforms to ask for performance rule changes. Just select a more competitive platform for that particular class. All that is being stated is that the bike is a dud.

    I must have missed something. The bike started out with 199hp right? It must have been modified some already right? I'm asking because the busa stock is about 165 or higher right? So are we getting 35hp more now from the total stock? thanks for any clarification.

    Brock, so SS rules allow cam lift/ duration changes as long as you keep stock sprockets and stock cam timing #s? if so, we’ll that’s pretty slick. Now that’s reading between the lines. I wonder how long people have been doing that? Pardon me if you mentioned your allowed as I already know how to adj the valves. That’s it though 😅

      Steve, They don't yet because no other bike in the class is limited by emissions camshafts....it's my wintertime project to try to revitalize the Ford vs. Chevy rivalry that we used to have with Kawasaki vs. Suzuki in SS.
