      They are actually really bad pads once they are heated up. If you have to make 1 emergency stop they are terrific, but got forbid you have to make another emergency stop before they get to cool.

    FYI for anyone wondering if this kit works with a 2013 750li it doesn’t really. I gambled here and I ordered the kit in the link from amazon and Both front and rear rotors on a 750 are slightly bigger. Also the pads that come in the kit... due to the bigger caliper size do not wind up fully covering the aftermarket rotor. There is about a quarter of an inch of the rotor that the pad doesn’t touch where it goes around the hub.
    The rear I could not fully install because the break pads they sent don’t have the clips on them. Also the ears on the pads are bigger on OEM. The rubber grommets for the front were correct but the rear they are different then in the video. I should have known but doing my sporadic 3am Amazon orders I just bought it and found out the annoying way.
    Ofcourse this is nothing splittmods did wrong. He’s obviously doing it on a 550i but I thought it would be the same and didn’t look it up. So pretty much the entire kit didn’t work. I need bigger front pads and completely different rears and grommets.

    Great video. Just a quick remark about releasing emergency parking brake when doing rear brakes, if one has ISTA software or any other BMW Coding app, it can be used to electronically retract the parking brake all the way back.

    Thank you for this video! It was very helpful for me (along with my brother-in-law’s expertise) in doing this exact setup on my 650i Gran Coupe.
    I have completed their recommended bed-in and will evaluate how I feel about them over the next week or so. I was tempted to go with different pads than those that were provided from Power Stop, so if these don’t meet expectations over the next two weeks or so I’ll switch to what originally intended and save these pads to the side for my sister’s M550i.

      So this brake kit works on 650i's?

    • @JNMiller28
      @JNMiller28 3 роки тому

      @@f13jack7 Yes, I think it shares the same part numbers and all for the pads and rotors for both cars. Though, it didn’t check for the 550i specifically, it was listed as compatible with the kits I ordered so I assume it’s the same for him.
      I will say that I miss the initial pad bite, especially when cold, from the OEM pads a bit, but GREATLY appreciate these under higher speed braking.

    • @JNMiller28
      @JNMiller28 2 роки тому +1

      @@Fishface30 Thanks for asking. I completely forgot to update.
      I am still using this full setup as installed and I have been happy with them. They do not provide the initial bite that I was seeking, but for my sometimes spirited driving, they have not once exhibited any apparent fade at all which is and improvement from the stock setup. There has been no squealing. These do require a firmer foot on the brake pedal than stock as well.
      Overall I'm pleased with them.

    Incase anyone is interested. This kit will not work for a n63/tu 750li. OEM Rotors on 750li are 1/4 inch bigger in diameter than the ones in this kit so if you did install them along with the pads. The pads would only touch 75% of the rotor.

      I have them for my Accord and I can't wait to get them off. I've had nothing bu problems including hard grinding, dragging, and more recently light vibration when braking at high speeds. I lubricated everything (including pins) and made sure everything was torqued to specs. I can't wait to get them off and replace them with genuine Honda parts. Amazon has a ton of bad reviews including cracking which is likely an issue with stuck calipers or pads that won't release the rotors. I hope my comment is timely and stops you from wasting your money. If I had to look at another brand I would look at Brembo for their pretty design. But I'm just going to get genuine Honda for mine as I don't want to go through this again anytime soon.

      After driving with them for a few days, I can honestly say I like them a lot. I would say the OEM have more of a cold bite as they are semi-metallic vs. Carbon Ceramic. However the carbon ceramic feel way smoother, have way less dust, and in combination with drilled rotors, they don't fade near as bad as the OEM brakes in my opinion. That being said, that's me being very critical in my opinion, most people wouldn't notice in difference in normal driving.

    How would you rate the Evolution brake kit since you have them ? Do you recommend it ?

      Trash. If not too late don't get them. I've had them for a couple of months and I can't wait to get them off. Nothing but problems including hard grinding, dragging and some vibrating at high speeds. The first week I was in love with them but that quickly wore out.

    When did you put the clip back on the calipers? I always have trouble with that part and was wondering if you have any tips on doing that. Thanks!

      I use two c-clamps to hold it in place and then use a screw driver to pry it back in. By the way, it’s actually a spring and should be replaced when you do brakes.

    I'm the only thing about slotted and drilled rotors they look good I know they cool the brake pads but they also eat your brake pads up like nobody's business every time that will spends it shaves off some of your brake pad from the slots and the rotor being drilled
