Man you have no idea how much I appreciate this channel. You’ve helped me out so much with my own 550i. Thanks for the uploads!
Do you mind sharing your experience with the 550i so far?
I might have missed it, but it should be mentioned if it wasn't stated in the video that the top 6 (3 on each fron strut) are considered a one time use bolt and according to BMW they must be replaced when changing struts. They are aluminum and will snap with even slightly more than factory torque. Make sure to replace these and use a torque wrench
Great video, just wanted to throw out that everyone can skip the unbolting of the upper control arm by just unbolting the front fork. It takes one very easy to remove bolt and then the entire hub assembly can easily be pushed down to pull the strut out. It saves a ton of work and is super easy.
Absolutely agree! I’ve had the VTFs on my 11 535i with DHP and it rides great for the last year. Great video.
What is DHP
The car looks amazing now...🤩
Best lowering springs are from Eibach ( Sportline) with 45/40 mm. In my Opinion the Comfort with Eibach Springs is definitly better than H&R. I got it on my 535i. But great Job 👍🏼
Do they lower the same distance?
Did the same thing for my 650 gran coupe. Love the VTF springs
Is it a stiffer ride on the 650i GC I hope so I been looking for a more like coil over system while keeping my stock EDC
@@dannyruiz8654 depends on how low you set it. Obviously the lower you set it the more harsh the ride. Sitting pretty low retaining enough ride quality to be considered supple
I’ve been looking for a channel with comprehensive information for the same BMW I drive and finally found it.
hey what happened to the car ? , second dyno reading with downpipes?
where did you go? we need more videos
I have put springs, struts, and coilovers on numerous cars. (Eibach, H&R, Koni, KYB, Bilstein, KW, Neuspeed, etc.) I had a blown strut on my 2011 535 X-Drive. I debated replacing it, but decided to go with Godspeed Coliovers. I normally avoid budget suspension parts, but there are not a ton of options for AWD cars. After putting them on I was very pleased with how much better it made the big boat handle. The surprising thing was the ride quality didn't get worse which was my biggest concern. I am not sure I would buy them if this was a race or track car, but it should certainly help laptimes.
Did you get vibration issues from going lower on the Xdrive?
@@dgo9121 I didn't.
I suppose this bmw was sold because there are no new vids about it.
Black Color is awesome but I suggest to wrap it, that makes bmw unique. And matt rims better turn glossy 🔥
37:06 No, you do not. You have the regular dampers, the DEC switch only changes throttle response. Your dampers are not EDC lol
I had these ordered, but were on back order until September. Just couldn’t wait. Watching this video gives me immediate regrets for going with just springs!
I agree with your assessment of how it changed the car. It's how it should have come from the factory. I have ACS on mine and they didn't come with the adjustment collar which, that thing is pretty cool. I've heard the H&R are stiffer than ACS. At first it felt very stiff but as time went on and they softened up just a bit, I found myself thinking the stiffer H&R is probably a bit more to my liking. However, I like a stiff ride. Keep in mind you may get some pre-mature dash rattles with the stiffer ride... at least, the springs is what I attributed that to (could be wrong). I do think it took a little bit of the effectiveness of my ARS feature away but not by much (barely noticeable) just by how the lowering changes the dynamics. Good video!! Any tire rubbing after lowering on larger bumps/dips?
Thanks, no rubbing.
The car is looking great man. That fitment is insane. Good job, keep the videos coming.
Did something happen to him? Haven't seen a video in months. Hope everything is ok
Was wondering the same thing I come back once a week to see if he uploads.
brooo u need to come back
Very clean! Great job and explanation of the process,
My F10 has the damping control and looks nothing like your struts. I have 2 different wires on my struts, and has a linkage that runs up to a proportional box for suspension travel.
Did you end up putting the lower springs on? got damping control too and I wonder if I can lower her without fucking up the adaptive drive charasterstics.
Dude! Where did you go?! I’ve owned V8 5 Series Sport models since 2001, and the only performance parts I’ve ever found were an $11,000 exhaust system… Then you come along like Moses of the 4.4!
Come back to your faithfull Splitt Mod Man.
My N63tu needs you in these times of uncertainty. 🤪
The man the myth the legend Splitt Mods we need you back LOL.
thank you so much for all the info on n63tu because I have a 750li the engine layout is exactly the same. Although the lowering springs is no use to me but your other videos on intake and jb4 is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for the great content.
Love that Florida thunder in the background haha. Thanks for sharing the knowledge brother👍🏼
What's going with the channel. Been a while since you've uploaded a vid. Thx!!
Nice video, but I don't think you have adaptive dampers. Adaptive dampers have a control box on the side, yours do not, they are plain like mine which doesn't have adaptive.
Hey hope everything is well, just wondering when you are going to drop another video. You seem really excited about meth injection really want to see that happen on this build.
2 years later still no video hope he’s good was really enjoying the content
Cool nice job. I put Eibachs on my 650 gran coupe xDrive, also really improved looks and handling. Have to say that te adjustability on your set is really cool.
Can’t wait to get these for my f10 535i
Hope you're doing alright, just wondering what happened to the videos? Take care!
Where did you go?
do you still own this car?
Love this channel and the information shared. I hope everything has been good okay in the past two years! Would love an update
Well dud, its says right there on the box "100% Made in GERMANY". That says it all, high quality at its best!
Updates?
Wow night and day difference!
Man first ever BMW owner as well as first “new” unit since 2005! I ended up with the 2014 GT and I am in love with it!!! Love this channel and can’t wait to do all the stuff you have so very well instructed us on how to install. I’m in Cape Canaveral, are you going to be at any car meets or shows? Would love to meet you some time! Also what are your thoughts on nitrous? Looking forward to the dyno pulls and meth system you’ve mentioned in a few videos.
I also noticed that I don't seem to find any exhaust videos? Not your thing? I can say the Res delete with a custom x pipe all the way (no rear cats) to M5 mufflers with the "exhaustmeister" (manually open/close muffler valve with the push of a button... I programmed mine to my garage door opener in the mirror... super easy install) is a great combo. PS. with M5 mufflers, you'll have the quad tips!
For more power, go catless down pipes and really hear the N63TU Roar!
Sorry for so many messages but sharing ideas with you for more videos as well as my experience. Besides my tune, exhaust work was my most rewarding modification!!
I have the catless downpipes, just haven’t found an exhaust yet, maybe in the future.
@@splittlive Car looks great! Appreciate all the videos... keep em coming! Black takes so much more work but looks great if you keep up with it... and you do. Didn't know you had the catless DP's, nice.... then yep, an exhaust to top it off would be worth it.
Update on the car?
no more vids sir?
Can you make a review with the Pros and Cons of this car for the people who want to get one like myself
Your car looks very good. We have the same appearance as far as mine being a 535I xdrive all black. I would like to get some advice on some performance wise and maybe your thoughts on a ground effect kit? Thank you so much...
Great video!!! I was debating the HR adjustable or the Megan coil overs.
If you have the electronic dampening, keep it and go with the HR. I had Megan coilovers on a Lexus and they were pretty good. Just have to get out of the car to adjust the stiffness... not a huge deal. I will say I had some squeaking issues and had to change out the upper mounts on the Megan's to get it to go away.
What's up with the car these days?
Can you do a small video on how to install the bcm on the n63tu wold be a big help
I could swear those wheels are style 351 19 inch but what tire size? They seem to have much meat on them ??
Hi great video! I’m planning the same for my E71 but isn’t there any error codes after eliminating the air suspension?
I ordered from your link and the info says it fits audi not f10
Get the carbon Mirror caps for your mirrors they look amazing on my Bmw f10
hi .. i love your channel and appreciate all your DIY , i got impressed and bought the same powerstop brake and abt to DIY on mine, you did the alignment with BMW showroom or private retail shop .. which is better ?
Looks very Good!! Do a 100-200 time Video i will see it you have 620 hp
Looking good great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Big bummer this channel went dark 😕 hope all is well
Hello Splitt Mods
Must say your the best and your work and explanations are much appreciated. Do you still have your front splitter installed now that you lowered your car with the H&R's? I am afraid that if I install on my 550i 2014 that I'll tear off my newly installed front splitter getting groceries or a burger.
Nice work! Thinking of doing these for my 718 Cayman, but have read mixed reviews...How is the ride quality after a year or so?
Where did the channel go?
Hello
Can u mayby make an episode about that custom air intake that u have? Or simply share your opinion about it? My 550 is after small engine rebuild, with new engine map, now it generate 511whp and 788nm torque. I am really curious if air intake like yours will improve that result. Btw its look goood 🙂I read a lot that the OEM intake is really good and you won't feel the difference. What yours opinion?
I have a 528i F10 M-Sport. Which ones would I buy, the VTF or EDC version?
Hello I wanted to know how do you like those firehawk tires? I'm looking for a new set for mines. I respect your opinion so let's hear it. What's your thoughts
Just did my springs but I did a few things differently which made if faster & much easier. I also tried to order that sway bar only got ripped off never got them put in a complaint with ebay. Still waiting for my cash back would've been nice tho...
So I'm about to do the arm N63 charge pipes. By any chance do you have these on your car & do they help in any way.
I’m not sure if there’s a way to get in contact or for this this question to reach you but, I have a 14 x drive 550i injector 8 went out we got extend warranty and my cat went out. I also found out if I tune my car at all it voids warranty is there anyway you can make a video on replacing injectors
Why you don't post new videos?
Can u help me with something please? My car is a 650i and im doing dp rn but i can get the oem dp off because its stuck on the heat shield... what do i do?
Hey man love your vids. You haven’t posted any for 2 years. What’s the latest? Did you sell it? :(
So what is your opinion of how the feel. Ride quality , handling etc.
SPLITT MODS WHERE YA BEEN?
Hey I’m new to f10 world thinking about these springs. How do I know if I have edc suspension?.2016 535 luxury package, it does have sport plus.
Could you please do a how to on replacement of the thermostat with a colder one? Since the Hot V N63 engines run so hot and destroy all the plastic components in the engine bay.
he's got the 2014 550i which has the n63tu which is more reliable than the n63 2013 and down 550i's.
@@suhrents8988 he has a 2016
I do not know if you are still active, how is the reliability on these F10 550i's looking to get one as a daily while I build my 900 hp q50.
Badass video! Do you have Dynamic Drive EDC suspension? I'm having the CHF11s bubbling issue on my 535 and I wondered if you got any tips.
He does not, even though at the end it's clear that he thinks he does.
is it stiff bro i have the B12 kit on 535i its to soft for me
Looking to add meth injection to my n63. Did you ever add it to your n63tu?
What about comfort? Can You tell more?
Ciao, cortesemente potresti inserire il link delle frecce? Gli indicatori di direzione, sono bellissime. Grazie
You still got this beast and if so any problems?
Hey man it’s been some time since you upload any videos Hope your Ok and your family 👍🏻
Do springs affect anything when you go over speed bumps or bumps in general? Do your tires rub? I know when I had 22s on my f10 even with spacers they rubbed on bumps.
Just curious as to why you decided not to change the shocks, are they recently new? just curious,
I would lose the electronic dampening.
SPLITT MODS makes perfect sense, didn’t think about that. thanks again, And great video, as usual.
Are sway bars worth it? I was thinking to start with those before dropping the car. The H&R’s run $650-750, so wondering if worth the money?
curious if you installed the BCM connectors for JB4?
Do you have a video on home to install the jb4
Hey I’ve watched a bunch of your vids I’m just curious do you think I should buy a 550i it’s got 100k miles and is 11k he’s moving and tryna sell I’m upgrading from my N55 335i thanks!
@splittmods what bumper do you have
Where are the updates?. The intake plz
I hope you didn’t pull one too many dyno runs….
Did something happen to him?
Same thing for xdrive ?
Does bounce?
Yo my man, how are you gonna put out all these great videos and then just abandon us like this
he sold it.:(
@@GeneraIObiwankenobi he did for real?
Hey bro is it common for these cars to burn through oil. Do you have to add oil after driving a certain amount of miles or if you step on the throttle more than usual?
Your valve stem seals are bad
@@Will.Rondo9 don’t think so I took it to the Bmw dealership and they gave me a diagnostic they checked my car no issues. Mechanic told me they consume a lot of oil.
Lol air ride is the best adjustable 😉
Any new mods coming?
Good looking buddy. From Whittier ca
Nice 550
WAIT! Anyone doing this: DO NOT REMOVE THE UPPER CONTROL ARM TO GET THE FRONT STRUTS OUT!!!
Doing it as this video shows is WAY too much wasted time and effort. INSTEAD, do it the proper way, that way is to use an E14 (External) socket and a 14mm wrench to easily remove the catch bolt that locks the upper arm’s ball joint to the upper control arm. With your hamfist or rubber mallet, just tap the lower control arm/brake-rotor/caliper assembly downward about 3” and support it with some wood blocks (or whatever). This turns the front strut job into a cakewalk. The rears are still a real bitch. The only way to do the rears is to remove the lower control arms and anything else that blocks access to the lower strut bolt. Let break- free soak in, add some heat, and slowly pull reverse torque with a LONG breaker bar.
ماشاء الله
Come back
You alive?
I wonder what ever happened to this guy?
This is one of the most dangerous job to be done at home by any inexperienced person like myself
