    I have a 1996 ford f800 with a 12 valve in it. Would this modification effect the longevity of the engine? Looking for more power.

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  Рік тому

      Technically, turning up the power on any engine shortens the lifespan. However, when you're working with a robust 12v Cummins that will last over a million miles, well done beyond the rest of the F800 or any medium or light duty truck, it'll be fine. Yes these modifications will work and won't measurably reduce longevity. Keep in mind Cummins offers this engine platform for heavy duty boat use at 370 HP, so your 190HP or so F800 factory setup is detuned.

    Those push connect fittings are terrible, they always endup leaking eventually. Do you offer this with better fittings, such as compression fittings?

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  5 місяців тому

      What fittings are you referring to?

    • @JD-ub5ic
      @JD-ub5ic 5 місяців тому

      @@pddofficial the AFC live push connect air fittings. This style of fitting always ends up leaking eventually, any strain on the tube leads to leaks. They're used on air systems on vehicles only because they're cheap, but they're a wear component and always need replaced.
      Something like a compression fitting doesn't have this problem it's permanent. As long as you don't overtighten it the fitting won't leak, it'll outlive the tube it's connected to.
      Now I'm not sure how sensitive to a little leakage the AFC is, I'm sure you'd notice it on the gauge and just the dials adjust to suit, but the sound can be pretty annoying and it's an expensive part to be using cheap fittings.

    • @JD-ub5ic
      @JD-ub5ic 2 місяці тому

      @@Dingleberry1856 If you're going to invest time and energy into auxiliary strain relief, it's easier to just use fittings that by design aren't weak to this failure mode to begin with.
      Besides, strain just makes the leaking problem worse, the problem still shows up even if you have perfect line runs and strain relief.
      Look at commercial trucks with air brakes, push connect fittings mean the lines need replaced every few years. it's cheap and easy to just pick better fittings and ensure the lines never need replaced in the first place when there's only a few fittings anyways (as opposed to commercial trucks that have dozens of them).

      the purpose of this video is to teach and inform others on how to install Power Driven Diesel products,
      CAT has best practices that have to apply across the board, and it doesn't matter if they are in a dusty mine or a clean room. The best practices for one company may not apply to all companies.
      when I would do an engine overhaul on a Terex Finlay rock crusher I would steam clean the whole machine before touching anything internal and cap and cover everything as it came apart to avoid exposure to the environment. In this video its clear I'm working in a clean shop on a clean truck and the parts that need to be clean upon reassembly, are brake cleaned before installed.
      we love making these videos and love giving others the confidence to work on there own vehicles. we hope to continue in the future. but when we have comments that undermine our videos it makes viewers second guess their own abilities and therefor makes us all worse because people don't want to try and do the job any more for fear of being judged.

      Cummins clean care wouldn’t approve either. Service manuals and training are littered with clean care instruction. Good thing cummins isn’t paying for this work under warranty, leaving the owner to repair it however they see fit. There is a slight chance of clogging an injector, certainly no guarantee.
