I’m here because of mike Finnegan. Let’s see that 500k subs.
You and me both bud, 500k incoming! 😎👍🍻
Westen champlin is a nice character to have no matter
Nice to have you
Yup!!!!!
Ditto here for FSM
Cheers from Tokyo
If anyone deserves recognition for their hard work its Todd, Will & the rest of the guys over at PDD! A few months back I had a some questions regarding my late model Dodge transmission so I called the shop not expecting that Will would be on the other line sharing his knowledge with me. Now that may be a Utah good ol’ boy thing but I was impressed and have been a fan ever since!
Thank you we appreciate your support and are happy to help!
You can't beat support like that. I absolutely love companies like that.
LFG. Been missing PDD's content, now 2 bangers in 2 days!
I’m more of a ft-lbs kind of guy.
Same my old idi feels closer to 300 hp than 100 from a dig
Love the "Double the Horsepower" videos!!!! Keep it up!!
Considering the factory rating was 160 to the crank, that first dyno run wasn't bad. I still need to put the injector nozzles I bought from you guys on the spare set of injectors I have for my 1st gen 😅
Fuel pin and screw was enough to make my trans start slipping like mad, that lack of locking torque converter is just... stupid.
The trans in these trucks are tragic!
I DID MINE BACK WARDS
I INSTALLED AN ALLISON 1000 6 SPEED W/ TRIPPPLE CLUTCH CONVERTER CUMMINS CONVERSION FROM CAC FLORIDA!
NOW I HAVE A COFFEE CUP GLUED TO THE DASH
TO PUT YOUR DENTURES IN, WELL IF U WANNA KEEP'EM!
6TH OR 2ND OVER COMES IN AT 60MPH
@Power Driven Diesel are there reliable upgrades for the A518 transmission ?
@@johnbunger1906 Of course there are.
Been my dream truck since i was like 12 and im 35 now.... My summer job at the campground we stayed at all summer had one and they let me drive it at age 15 doing clean up, etc. Fell in love even more. I just always been a sucker for boxy style vehicles and growing up in a dodge family it just makes sense. I just wish i would have got one back when they was going for $5000 for a decent one....
I got my rust free 107k mile D250 cummins for $2500. Cheap ones are still out there
Theres something about the westin/will combo that we need more of
The spark plugs were most definitely to ignite exhaust to make flames 😂
You never addressed the timing.
I love these videos showing the increases in the horsepower. On my 93 non intercooled engine it originally made 16 lb of boost. I added a fuel pin, ground the inside of the cover and adjusted the spring. I also turned up the fuel screw and added 7 x 11 injectors and the Boost went up to 40 PSI with a huge Improvement in performance. Then I added the timing spacer kit and added the 3200 spring, and the Boost dropped down to about 32 or 33 but still runs great. I have a straight 4 inch exhaust. Kind of wondering what kind of horsepower my engine might be making compared to stock.
Another sub for finnegan. Love seeing how these cummins 30 years later still take upgrades like a champ
It's funny how a 160hp 400 torque ve motor seemed like a lot compared to the 6.5 chevy and 7.3 idi
It was the beast back in the day!
It was a game changer when it came out.
Little timing ,Turbo, valve springs and 350-380 is very doable.
You're killing me! I'm so curious what it would have done with a new turbo. I had a '90 I named Frankensmurf. It started out pretty rough too, but after what you did (Except I put DDP 100hp injectors, so I'm not sure how that compares to the 5x14), plus an HX-35 with the wastegate wired shut, I could hit 50+ PSI boost, and I'm pretty sure topped 400Hp. (It did have bigger exhaust, no new pump, and was a Getrag manual transmission). I sold it and warned the guy he needed a wastegate before he blew a head gasket or worse. Unfortunately he didn't listen and 'popped' something two weeks after he bought it. Boy that was a fun truck! If it wasn't for 4 doors and creature comforts, I'd prefer it over my '04.5
Trippel turbo build for Finnigans. Heck ya. Start building it.
Let's do it!
*triple
I have the same setup on my 89 except I have a 5 speed manual. Very fun to drive.
What kind of mileage are you getting? Considering a '91 D250 as a cheap / reliable, low tech tow rig.
@@4xAbuse I roughly get a bit over 20mpg unloaded. I drive like a grandma though.
I've always been taught to turn the field screw up while the engines running to avoid a runaway
I got to 300 on my 89 with the 727 auto with only fuel screw, powerstroke intercooler and a 57mm stock 300G turbo. The stock non intercooled 4X12's will move some fuel.
Yes they do!
@@pddofficial Nothing super fast, 9.35 in the 1/8th at 72 ish mph.
Why do I feel like weston should work for them honestly✋️🤔💯
Double the horsepower and cut the longevity of the already short lived transmission by two thirds.
Awesome content again with you two guys 👌
Let's see a turbo upgrade and what just the turbo picks up
Truck left before we were able to do that. I am also curious what it would do.
@@pddofficial if you get your hands on it again I would love to see what a turbo upgrade would do with the fuel mods you probably could sell a starter kit with the fuel mods and have the option for a turbo for a wake up kit for gramps Ole 5.9
Oh I changed to a 97 p pump motor too. Almost all stock just minor tuning. Took my wife on a first date to a dyno meet in 2000 I hit the highest tk at the meet in Sacramento
Most people will put a better turbo on before a new pump and transmission
Just another cool video guys 😬🙌🏻
Appreciate it!
1st gen dodge's has been my fav truck for ever . never owned a Cummins maybe one day i will . atm i have a 1993 d250 with a 360 in it good truck very strong . wish it was a W250 dually an a Cummins , btw before people ask d250 mean 2wd W250 mean FWD .
it hard to find a donnor truck for parts
I've been pondering what a good recipe for roughly 300hp might be. I have a 1991 VE pumped Cummins in my 1978 Ford Bronco with a ZF5 manual transmission. It has stock injectors but the pump is maxed out (fuel screw buried, THD fuel pin, 3200 RPM spring) and I have an HX35W turbo with the 12cm exhaust housing. I'd like to dyno it sometime to see where it's really at. I'd guess between 250-300hp. It moves the bronco pretty good as is :)
Get some cheapo marine injectors or something and you'll be right there.
Just got an 04 ram 2500 4x4 w/a 24 valve. Would love to let you guys play w/it,, $$$😊
This is inspiring, I haven’t turned up fuel yet but have a 47rh and a hx35 and still hit 100mph. This is going to be fun
UA-cam- please listen. Get rid of the damn exercise guy commercial. Please for gods sake. Enough is enough
youtube uses your browsing preferences to show you relevant content. tell your wife to stop looking up hot exercise guys :)
@@uliwehner I’m alone, I guess it must be me, but I’m not looking up dudes
Pro tip, turn the fuel screw up till the manual shut off doesn't work then back it off till it does.
People always throw more fuel at these but what you really need is more air/better turbo and play with timing. Sooooooooooooooooo many more mods you can do to bring it to 600hp.
Meanwhile u joints are breaking like fine China and transmissions are smoking.
Need to lower the star wheel in that stock ve too!
I wish y’all sold the power jet nozzles separate. I would like to test a set against your 7x.011 I have in my first gen to see if they run cleaner but make about the same or more power.
Give our sales team a call they can help you out.
Whats a good turbo for 600hp on a 2nd gen? Some chinese turbo off ebay
Depends on what you are using it for but for an all around use powerdrivendiesel.com/product/power-driven-diesel-hx-super-9-turbo-kit-bundle/?v=7516fd43adaa
Here because Mike Finnagan said so!!!!
Curious what the fuel economy was before and after
You never tried adjusting throttle linkage to inner hole for more throttle travel. Doesn't hurt to drill the banjo bolts on the fuel filter lines as well. I had 5x18's and 3200 spring with 354 gears and 5 speed, and it would easily hit 3600 rpm, 125-130ish mph.
I thought I would jump in on your latest video, to let you know…MIKE sent me!

Thank you sir!
When trucks were built to be truck's
Getting ready buy one1993 with 73,000 miles on it
Wow that's awesome!
Isn’t the transmission that you put in it worse, didn’t it have a 727 in it before. those things were really good transmissions maybe not for diesel power but that’s what they used to use and drag race cars
Yes they are great gaser transmissions but at 100ftlbs of torque will fail quickly.
Now put a s362sxe on it and see what happens..
Please next time try water and meth injection
So I have a 250-260cc THD injector pump 3200 spring, Stage 3 DDP nozzles, Stage 1 DAP 62/64 HX35, Decent Garage copied BHAF, 18psi fuel pressure, and a 4" exhaust system. I should be 400-450hp (stock automatic '93) I bet if you would have adjusted the valves you might have picked up a few ponies. This video is inspiring!
Video was extremely enjoyable gotta make more
You guys want to yank out my 3.0 eco diesel 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and my 2010 Camaro with a built LS3 and built 4l80 and stuff something in there? Lets do a 3X you HP!!! :P HMU? @Power Driven Diesel

Personally I like slow. I don't break things and I let people pass me. I'm retired...no rush.....
I can't believe I ran across your channel randomly while looking at Diesel trucks. I just watched the Project Farms video lol
@Power Driven Diesel
Do some trucks with manuals!
The Fummins was a manual
I heard your name 3 times in two days so I'm here and yes I subscribed.
Thanks for the support!
ALLISON 1000 6 SPEED W/ TRIPPPLE DISK TC
BY FAR THE BEST UPGRADE FOR A DODGE CUMMINS!
C O M P L E A T L Y DIFFERENT TRUCK.
MY LITTLE 350 CI WILL MAKE A BIG BLOCK BLUSH!
Barely do 100 before. Yeah right. Anyone who owns one of these trucks knows you’re lucky to get 75.
Just subscribed. Finnegan's mod was something else. Can't wait for the 3 turbo swap! That's a whole 'nother world.
It would be so much fun! Make for a crazy video!
Hey guys I wanna see you See Michael Finnegan pull 3000 horsepower out of that ramp truck!!😂😅
Damn , would love to find a truck just like that to pull our rv , 12 valve , auto and extended cab .
Turn the fuel up on that pump, 4" exhaust and a HX35. Wish you would have done a pull before the transmission swap. I want to stay with my factory transmission for now.
Someone should go the other way with mods. Factory pump and pin, screwdriver tune only, but, 3” intercooler and piping first then, hx35, then turbo mods.
And that’s why these bad boys go over a million miles regularly and get passed from original truck to whatever someone wants to shove them in
ill be impressed when you increase the power of a semi-truck to match a Union Pacific diesel locomotive.
Good job on Help Finnegan's? Garage. Ramp truck?
You crazy hot rodders...
Now put on some Banks power equipment to see what happens.
What the hel1, let's go for a mill. Anyone who can blow up a truck like that deserves it!!!!
Right!?
@@pddofficial refers to Finnigan sub challenge, keep us updated ,will try get you more subs as needed. Enjoy the content wish I had a diesel now but can dream. Would be tight fit in my 01 tracker
Mike Finnegan sent me. 6.1L roadkill ramp truck ?
I still have an old first gen . I never use it . Starts right up . Great truck.
Here for the 450K. I want to see the stroker built and see you all grow. Murica!
Thank you!!
Here I was thinking my 6.0 was slow
Not a speed demon by any means! Lol
My first gen was not that slow stock right???? RIGHT?!?! so glad I did what I did to mine
They really are. It's a strange feeling to jump into a stock truck now!
@@pddofficial 5 speeds got a tad bit more get up and go than autos though. thinking I make about the same power as westen
The video I've been waiting for ! Thanks Guys !
I'd come in with my 08 but scared of the cost..
You never once talked about pump timing……
I would like to know what your pump timing was set at. …… When you look at the VE injection pump gear , there are several different letters - stamped on the gear for different levels of pump timing. Stock is “E” …. Should have moved it over one tooth to letter “C”
Subbed to see the Finnegan build
I go hope it happens! We've got some big plans for that truck
Your mileage must be gone. My 1989 gets 26 mpg, I want more efficiency. My opinion my truck needs more air to be more efficient. thanks for your vid
id love to see what a VE pump is capable of 😍👍 i know they are not as powerful as the P-pump but there is a lot of people still rocking the VE pump and knowing some secrets to make some good gains would be awesome knowledge to have 😁 Im building a fummins with a VE pump and im looking to make about 300 HP so this video was very fun for me to watch 😅
There are a lot of fummins with VE pumps. I think we may need to do some more testing with these!
Hey it's even educational for people who don't have a Cummins, but do have a VE on there 4 banger diesels! I'm sure there's a fair bit of cross over. I for one would deffinatley want to know how to figure out what pump timing an engine is running that has a VE. I only know how much plunger lift to dial in at TDC but no idea how that translates to degrees of timing.
@Power Driven Diesel Definitely! Id love to see the guys nerd out on all the tuning of the pump! How to adjust base and dynamic timing advance, different boost pin curves and spring adjustments. So many cool things about the VE pump that people overlook because they cant make as much power as the P-pump...
Can i set a challenge for you guys to break the VE pump HP record? Lol...
Hey man look at firepunk diesel. This August I believe it the battle of the ve. Tons of big players in the ve fuel only will be trying to shoot for new hp record.
@Dakota b i managed to find firepunk diesel but nothing about a VE pump challenge or anything... what have they called it?
I have zero complaints agent's our solar-powered
Wind powered installation and I live in New Mexico usa
What does this do to the MPG? If you drive it easy would it be about the same? Can't you put a solenoid before the pump to be able to turn the fuel off in an instant. Then it would bleed down and stop a runaway relatively quick. I thought that's how the key worked anyways.
Awwww. Come on now get a bigger turbo sxe62 size and see what it will do 😅😅😅😅😅 Go big or go home
I think we need to do another test!
@Power Driven Diesel I know you guys are horsepower Nuts I've watched you for a while now. P pump is part of your Wheel house. So is Commonrail .Keep up the amazing work Guys.
Just trying to convince my parents to buy me this truck for when I’m able to drive.
Wat about a 7.3 idi?
Im just here to see trip-terb-skis on the Ramp Truck.
What turbo ? Would be sweet to see a h351 cw upgrade with this
Turbo was stock but I am curious what would have happened with another turbo
should have put a universal k&n air filter on then did a 1/8 inch timing bump after turning the fuel up i have a stock 1st gen and couldnt believe how responsive it got just with a k&n it got super snappy
Was the the limiting factor at the end the h1c. I imagine it would have picked up a bit of power with A stock 351cw or a slightly upgraded hx35 or k27 of course
I might have to get another truck here to find out!
How do you lock the automatic transmission in one to one to be able to dyno? And lock up the converter.
If you can't lock the converter the dyno is pointless.
Has that motor been bullet proofed? Cuz this his how you lose head gaskets. I'd put a new large capacity radiator on there.
Man I've worked life away an all for my 16 year old girl if you ever have any way for me to get a truck in a raffle or other wise please le me know I would work it of or what ever you want I just see no other way to ever achieve anything like this I may or may not deserve something like this but my girl said it couldn't hurt to ask I love you videos an woul love to mee you in real life I'm not a banker but I've seen where you helped other people out before and I'm not asking for something for free I'd be willing to come and help on the build or whatever it would take and I'm not worthy my sixteen-year-old daughter truly is straight A student in school starts college in a few years lost my job recently so scrambling to try to find a new one if there's anything that you could say to me inspirational or to my daughter either one anime great you're a loyal fans Travis and Lauren thank you so much
Parents had the same truck but a 92, with the 5 spd Getrag manual. This one might be slower than watching paint dry on a humid day, but there's could chirp the tires on the 2-3 shift.
Idk how diesel works but I'm learning
14 MIL OVER 12 MIL IS UH 12% MORE FUEL BY VOLUME, I HEAR THAT THE 14 MIL PUMPS GET A LITTLE HOT U MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE OUT THE 50 HP INJECTORS FOR 100 HORSE! U KNO TO KM KEEP THE PUMP TEMPS DOWN!
Great video, I have a Dodge w250 1991.5 Cummins 5.9, with 175,000 miles and a A518 transmission,
the only mod, I had done was install a 3200 spring, but I will like to get a new set of injectors like you did in the video
like to stay below 200 HP. (5x11) you did not mention about "VCO or SAC" what injectors will you advise to get, I live in California
( my truck is too old for the smog laws) why did you chosen the 5x11, Thanks
We would recommend the vco or give us a call and we can get you setup with our stage 1 power jets.
You need a manual on that old girl. We did multiple pulls with my 92 cummins at 301 hp and 698 lb ft. Fuel screw buried. 90 over POD injectors. Custom stage2 AFE intake. 3" hood stack. And 5 speed getrag. On 37x13.5x18s.
Curious what kind of mileage that combo gets? Looking at something similar for a toy hauler / sxs bed rack tow rig.
I would start with porting and polishing the exhaust manifolds
Hell yeah!!!!!!! Been waiting for this
Great stuff Guys, does it black smoke, OR just a little puff on flooring it??, I know the old saying, "no smoke no POKE" , just asking, Im running a "tweeked" Toyota lump, & been thinking 6BT for a while
It does a small buff
Subscribed from FSM, the Ramp Truck is running great.
I have a 1st gen 12v I am running a 3800 gov spring I am planning on doing valve spring's and am trying to get around 450 and was wondering if I should go with you're guys 60# or the 170# conical valve springs thank's
For that rpm the 60 lbs are ok but make sure to get our tool steel retainer and locks. The stock stuff won't live long. The conicals are better of course but if your using a stock cam the 60's should do well.
