This is the only video that told what to do on the roof. I have a 1994 Fleetwood American Eagle and I am debating with myself whether to go through the roof or one of the windows. Thank you so much for showing so much more than anyone else! I have it permanent on my property but I feel bad cutting into a perfectly great roof but it helps so much to know what the process looks like.
I have had a Grizzly in my cottage work shop for years. We are in Eastern Ontario and in Feb it keeps the shop warm all day long. We have lots of Iron on the island so just cut up 4-5 in Mimi logs. Good choice.
I think perhaps it is a good idea to use lock washers locktite or nylock nuts on everything since the whole thing will vibrate a lot while being on the road.
You are encouraging me to do my own build. I have a 14ft trailer that is now set up to transport some dirt bikes and camping gear. As I reach retirement in the next 4 years, I’m considering converting the trailer into a camper, much like yours. I’m a capable DIY’er and this looks like a super fun project. Love your content!
Thanks for posting you stove installation, excellent video. I just recentry purchased a 1968 Avion C-11 Ultra slide in truck camper. I'll be removing the old original gas furnace and installing a home made solid fuel stove for heat, coal wood etc. I've had similar stoves on sailboats that burn charcoal, it important that the stove drafts properly for it to be safe. Thanks Sonny P.
I like the pace and shots you use in your instructional videos Scott. I love that stove. Noticed it is listed as marine grade, so I guess the top railing keeps your coffee pot upright on the high seas! Cheers!
Totally love your fireplace had to share it with a couple of friends we all kind of live in campers trying to figure out how to provide more heat in the winter.
I have watched many installations of these stoves. The chimmny pipe tends to accumulate soot quickly and needs frequent cleaning. Be sure your install takes that into account.
Hi! I am about to set a grizzly in my Mercedes Sprinter.. the stove is bolted down and I need to drill a hole in the ceiling. I have been looking for information about how to do the roof a d take the excess pipe when I drive. Can you tell me more How you took apart the pipes on the outside? I want to keep it low my van is already 11 feet tall. And trying to keep it discreet when I need to. Thanks . Great video.
Stove looks great and I cant wait to see how well it performs in the trailer! I gotta tell you thoygh I cringed as you put the hole in the roof. I have an old jayco trailer with a flat roof, and its a nightmare. Seal the crap outta the edges of that boot, and make sure you angle the trailer to get the water off that roof every time it rains.
Very nice. I enjoyed your pacing and relaxed demeanor, and the trailer is really looking good. I recall reading about the benefits of a solid-fuel stove in such situations in L. Francis Herreshoff’s “The Compleat Cruiser.” Some useful 1950s stove management tips in there also.
I would like to hear the response from the Insurance company on burning wood in a camper/ trailer/ RV etc. having said that, very cool, useful project, if you can find firewood , when camping, which is difficult in the Desert southwest, sometimes.
I have two units... I wonder how the cub is in comparison in person........ it is highly recommended here. Oh I'd upgrade the base to the slide tray ... makes it really nice when stoking and so on.................... no sparks on the floor
Very nice and cosy. Maybe just one hint: it is a good idea to make a separate air intake for stove directly from outside. The reason is that if the stove will take air from inside of the trailer it will create slight under-pressure. The result is that a cold outside air will be sucked into trailer through any crack or opening. It will not only slightly decrease the effectivity of heating but first of all it can be felt when sitting inside.
Great video! Could you please tell me where I can find the complete list of everything you purchased, where it was purchased and the complete cost? I thought it would be in the description, but I can't find it. I see a lot of other items linked, but not the things in this video. I could be overlooking it, but I can't seem to find the links. Thanks.
Was wondering about where the outside flange meets the exterior insulated exhaust pipe. Do you seal the connection with anything, or is it just left alone, because you dismember it for travel?
Fantastic stove. Beautiful looking and I expect to see some of your camping / cooking videos in the near future. Thanks Scott for sharing Eddy and "Steve" the Stove with us. Keep safe. 🌄🌄
Excellent application & build 👍very informative. As I have been living in a 5th wheel 34ft here in B.C 🇨🇦. As in winter, a 30lb propane bottle. Will last about 12 days, & need conserve it . For heating shower water + running my fridge when lose of hydro. Dislike plugging in , my emergency generator. Not quite anough, & can't sleep 😕.
I relly want one of these little fires 🔥 all the best frome Scotland whud love to do wat you doing can't drive lol but have a big statec in London cost and a little travel van up hills of Scotland l relly need this thank you so much for putting up all best
I just ordered a 6 x 10 cargo/rv conversion trailer and looking at wood stoves. How have you liked the woods so far? Does the Dickinson Stove cook you out or manageable?
I am gonna buy a forest in the next weeks and i am wondering what To install for the time i fix a trail for a futur cabin...should i buy a shipping container or a rv ahhh the question in live lol
Great video. The installation looks good and sound. There’s something to be said about building up something yourself that takes you places. I can certainly see the attraction of installing a wood burning stove. I considered one myself in a cargo truck conversion. I installed a Espar D2 diesel heater instead. I tend to be on the move which makes a wood burning stove impractical for me as a primary heat source.
Loving Eddie. I’ve been watching your entire build on this and was wondering if you ever found something to cover the gap between your window and the frame? A company in Canada called Phantom Screens makes an aluminum track for one of their screen windows that would fit perfectly in there. If you ever make it over there, it comes in black and it’s from their old screen window model. Just ask for Phantom Vision track from their screen window
This is great! I have been thinking about temporarily installing mine to use to keep warm while I remodel my trailer. Thanks how important is the fresh air intake? I didn't order one.
From you’re Wisdom “ How to Build a smokeless wood burning stove / heater in the winter , if lose of electricity how to keep how above 33 degrees yo keep pipes from freezing ?
I don’t think I would have located it just inside the door- seems like a spot where it will be in the way and your likely to get burnt. Also, I would avoid putting holes in the roof if at all possible as your just asking for future problems - I would have put it out through a wall. Great videos, I really like watching it all come together. Thanks
Cubic Stove doesn't recommend putting an elbow in the flue and as for holes in the roof - he did caulk it so it will be fine. People put stoves through roofs for many years
I got the boot gasket for traveling, it does not fit. OD of the pipe is ~ 4 7/8”, while ID of the rubber cap is ~ 5 9/16” Have you had this same issue? If so, have you found a remedy? The one supplied by Cubic Mini is too large to form a weather tight seal for traveling.
Quick question...would a floor stove installed, even with a heat shield, be safe when a family of 6 (2 adults, a 6 yr old, a 4 yr old, and twin 8 mo olds) will be living in a 35 foot travel trailer?
This is very cool! I'm working on a tiny camper build and would love something like this, but don't think I have the room for it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching your video! At first when I saw your stove pipe coming out the top I thought to myself "that ain't gonna last driving down the road" so thanks for your clarification at the end. I suppose its not that much work to throw the pipe on when you arrive to your destination - at least once you consider the benefit you will get from the heat!
Would the Cub be sufficient for your trailer? I've got a 5x8 I'm building for overlanding 4 seasons. Space and weight is limited, on the fence on grizzly vs cub.
@DrenalinAdventures absolutely, I think the heat source is something a guy shouldn't cut corners on. Yeah I get into the cold cold, ND MT and WY areas. Better to trim weight somewhere else. Grizzly it is. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks very much for making this! Easily one of the most thorough installation videos we've come across. Hope the stove is treating you well.
Glad you liked it. Love the stove. It will be in my videos for years to come.

A woodstove in a trailer should be a necessity, not only for warmth, but the ambiance it creates. Looks good.👍

Question. How long is the burn time when fully stoked? Will it be safe to sleep while it remains burning?
Burn time is short even with hard woods. Never make it through the night. You’ll need a secondary heat source or a warm sleeping bag. I have both 👍
curious if you think sparks from fire might damage the rubber roof ?
Awesome.
