Haha that elevator you didn’t wanna get into is called the “bomba elevator” often the most toughest elevator as it helps maintenance carry heavy materials up and down the building... next time go with that haha!
Enjoying this episode. And you guys were in good hands as Grey Chow is the nicest and down-to-earth professional photographer in KL and the whole Malaysia.
FYI the elevator on 1:54 actually is the most stable kind of elevator in Malaysia. It's called "Cargo lift" which is often use by workers for carrying heavy equipment and tools. Those plywood you saw in it is for preventing scratches from those equipment and tools. It's totally 100% safe to use. In fact most of us use it to avoid crowded main elevator.
Yeah.... A very nice place to visit... Been there few times, and enjoyed. KL and surrounding thoroughly... Genting Highlands, Malacca, Penang etc... Must revisit... Nice...
When in Singapore, the lifts were boarded up by removalist. The removalist usually have had to provide large bond to the owner of the building, thus the need to protect the lift (and bond). I am sure the lift was working perfectly.
This is so funny ironic and bizarre while looking for locations I found your video on shooting in KL and replicated your spots at sin sze si ya temple and Traders hotel. Both sites worked out great and not a bother from any staff at all. Several days later I bumped into your video on KL caves and discovered we stayed at the same apartment and went after the same sunrise and had the same challenges, a closed elevator. After trying the alternative elevator route I came down and the security removed the maintenance barrier at the elevator and I made it just in time.
These are really enjoyable but if you want to have some additional fun turn on the closed captioning. It's on auto and really comes up with some classic translation. Finding the view through all the construction showed a great deal of patience!
Pigeon Whisperer and Construction site explorer! Wow! I love how the random guy just walks right through the scene, obviously aware of the video camera! Dude!
I like shooting a sunrise a lot more. The light is much softer and normally a little less people are around! Great video from a great city I been once - but I was not really interested in photography a few years ago. Means for me: I have to visit KL again with my camera and tripod!
Glad your doin good Elia. You actually inspired me a lot back when you did the tutorials for Fstoppers. UA-cam quit showing me your videos and I figured you quit uploading. Anyway, keep it, you are an inspiration
I managed to get sharp 0.6 second exposure using one of those red pillows you sat on to secure my camera. Worked like a dream and did not cause the security people to get hysterical... ;-)
Nothing like downing some ikan bakar (grilled fish) and a few Tiger beers after waiting for pigeons all day! Great vid, very entertaining. Looking forward to some durian...
The elevator scene at 2:07 is not stripped down to the bones. These are large plywood planks put inside the elevator to protect the surface of the decorative interior when there are large heavy items to be moved, for example home appliances and furnitures. Usually it is a sign of renovation works being done; otherwise it is what we in Malaysia call a "cargo-lift" or "firefighter's elevator" (Bomba lift), it is the toughest elevator around the building. Don't you have that from where you come from?
Elia, love your work and now your own videos a nice blend excuse the pun between tutorial and travel photography not that I didn't enjoy the work with f stoppers, that was a great series.
2.05 the elevator was not in bad condition.. it's covered by plywood to protect it from screching.. it's used for moving heavy things like furniture, machine and all stuff when someone movein or moveout from the apartment.. in this case the elevetor used to carry the construction materials as shown in 2.29..
I was gonna say that guy was trying to steal your composition but, then realize you were in that spot for hours!!!! So I can’t blame him for making a statement getting in your shot of the pigeons 😂 🤣 😝
Really crazy apartment you got there! Been to Batu Caves on 2013... And forgot to charge the camera batteries. 🤦♂️ All that beauty with only a 2013 phone camera to capture it😭😭
Elia you're amazing, loved the cave's picture with the pigeons, thanks for the idea. Next time I go to Batu Caves I'll try to take a similar picture and tag you on it ;) P.S: poor Andrey, I fell in the same trap as he did xD
Eila, thanks for that tip for the photo pills app, it's great I'm hoping to try some milky way photos tonight so its going to help 🤞 it stays clear after 2.30 am unfortunately it's a full moon tomorrow night but the moon set time here is 2.30am so I'm hoping between then and 4am I might get something.
I love this videos and I happened to have planned more or less the same travel itinerary starting in a couple of weeks. Could you please share the info of the appartment building at the beginning of the video? looks like an amazing place to stay :).Thank you and I'm waiting for the next video!
@@EliaLocardi Do not misled by the comment above. Those internal elevator covered by plywood is simply protecting the finishes of the glossy stainless steel surface avoid scratches while mobilising the construction stuff. I'm sure you've noticed kind of construction work on going up there right? Some of the contractors might cut off the control of the elevator automated door to ease their work, moving stuff up and down.
Amazing video. When you are trying to find roof access to places and you are not a guest in the building Elia, Do you just go on a wing and a prayer and hope that there is no security?
Elia, nice videos. I noticed you dont have a XH1 but you have a XT3. Whats your opinion about the two cameras? Is it good to buy a XH1 v XT3 or XT4 for photography (not video) purposes?
@@EliaLocardi thank you for your quick response. I do have a xpro2 currently which I love. I am wondering if I should skip the xt4 and instead get a gfx50r to maximize my options?
Haha that elevator you didn’t wanna get into is called the “bomba elevator” often the most toughest elevator as it helps maintenance carry heavy materials up and down the building... next time go with that haha!
2:05 that elevator for vendor contractions that why cover with plywood to avoid damage or crashes

Alenated yup, it is true... the building still having construction in some units, it is lift for the contractors... safe to use...
Also less people around for sunrises. such serenity.
So entertaining and unique. Very glad I happened to stumble onto this channel. Awesome video !!!!

Regalia Residence.
This is Regalia condominium. Stayed there for two years, with the majestic views.
Great series as expected super informative, excited to watch next ones. I wish they never end :D. Thanks, Elia
11:35 that was the creepiest walk in ever, that guy definitely eats people.
So, when can we expect your visit to India 🇮🇳
There are many ancient places in India you will definitely love to click 😉👍
Very entertaining, very! ;)
KL is a nice place. 👍 Why can't these guys use their hand to eat? 😑😑Thanks for the video all the best bro.
Half completed hotel, lifts not working, wires hanging off, electrical switch panels missing :) Welcome to Malaysia Elia.
t Lim a bit “under construction” 😉

Great video! Do you mind sharing which Mindshift Backlight pack you are using? Is it the 26 or 36?
We're doing a full "what's in my bag" once we're in Kyoto. Keep watching!
I think the place you went for your food is Alor Street and not Old Klang Road. It's near Bukit Bintang right?
I love pigeons : ) very underrated bird
Amazing video. When you are trying to find roof access to places and you are not a guest in the building Elia, Do you just go on a wing and a prayer and hope that there is no security?
I try to find it first myself. If that doesn't work, or I find a locked door, I politely ask for permission from the building manager or security. :)
I see, I gotta man up and give it a try
The pigeon whisperer
Good video..may i know the food is in old klang road which area?
Love your vids
haha " Tastes weird but the flavor is great!"
Durian is the best fruit in the world 😂👌
Good video realy
Hey, you should really explore other caves, they are way more beautiful! The Batu Caves isn’t really known for it’s beauty, more for the culture.
Great Video! What is the name of the apartment building you stayed at? Thanks!
Regalia Residence.
@@EliaLocardi Thank You!
Great series, Elia! You aren't a big fan of camera straps, am I right? 😅
Jerry Adam actually, I rarely use camera straps.
Nice video. By the way, it’s actually Jalan Alor, not Old Klang Road 😊
pls come to sabah . . . plsss :"(
11:39 That guy :D

Elia, nice videos. I noticed you dont have a XH1 but you have a XT3. Whats your opinion about the two cameras? Is it good to buy a XH1 v XT3 or XT4 for photography (not video) purposes?
I would definitely go new with the XT-4. It’s compact and has great IBIS.
