Mindy Tan had great tips for taking pictures, let people know what your doing, give them a chance to opt out. I like how she "went out of street photographer mode" and into "portrait" mode, and asked the person if she could take her picture. Great mindset demonstration.
Great Film! I was bought up in Singapore, as a ' Brit Brat'! My Dad was British Army and He served there from Mid 50's to 1969, a great life! Has changed much over the Years, I even joined the Navy so I could go back there! Last visit was about 2014. Thanks for sharing.
I´ll love this series. Scouting, the most underrated work for most amateur photographers and one of the most important skills to improve in your career..
I've been there in January 2019 for the first time. With this video, it feels like I'm there again. In perfect company to rediscover all the special places. Thank you for all the tips!
Great job Elia! I like that you are meeting up with other photographers that specialize in different types of photography that also help to show off the city you are visiting. Looking forward to the next one.
@@EliaLocardi all the hard work behind the actual production of the series... something like what you did with fstoppers... its interesting to see how you actually did all the other stuff too... Wildlife photography is commonly overlooked, when photographers think about Singapore. However, you can often spot wild otter families on that floating 'thing'that you hate. hahaha. Thanks for visiting Singapore anyway, hope you enjoyed your stay!
Do. Try hitting the heartlands and you'll be more than amply rewarded. It's easy to pack a lot into a few days given the compactness of Singapore in terms of size and the sheer volume of sights and sounds.
Absolutely brilliant, I wondered how long it would be before a series like this to come out from your good self! I'll be patiently waiting for the next!!
Exceptionally done Elia! I've heard many great things about Singapore, but was not aware of the cultural diversity. Looking forward to seeing more episodes.
Elia, I just found your channel by mistake and I gotta say I love your work! Not only your photos, but also the way you show us the city and talk about the history too. And meeting up with local photographers? Just great! I need more of this in my life myself. You inspired me to visit Singapore now to take some photos and learn more about their culture. Subscribed, looking forward to the next videos!
I dont know how I came upon watching this, I dont even know who you are, or anything about photography. But dam, you are SO GOOD at what you do. Earned yourself a subscriber
THis is great. I really enjoyed how you set this up and focussed on the photographers, the city and your shots. This was really well laid out and very entertaining. I will subscribe and look forward to more shows. Great job Elia!
Thanks Jason! There are 14 episodes this season and each will highlight both the location as well as a local photographer there. Next stop, Kuala Lumpur. :)
In malay Singapore is Singapura. Singa means lion. Pura means city. Fun fact there are no lions in Temasek (Singapore}. What Sang Nila Utama probably seen that day is a tiger. Fun Fact 2, Merlion is actually a mascot by Singapore Tourism Board.
Hahaha. So true. In Singapore there is a comedian group, called ‘dim sum dollies’ once I was there watching their show, they said. “Singapore where got lion?”
Even you have years of experience you are so humble to learn from people. Im subscribing to your channel now! Please make more videos. You don’t just teach people about photography but you also exploring places and culture. Love your channel man!
Elia, I loved, loved, loved your video. I have never been to Singapore, never really had a desire to go until I watched your show. Inspiring. Looks like lots of work too! I like your thought about doing your scouting for photo site during the mid day...makes so much sense.
As a Singaporean, even though I’ve been the most of the places you visited, you have shown us an even more beautiful perspective of our city. Thank you !
Elia, you're probably the 1 millionth person who have taken photos from that location! Every night without fail, there are hundreds of photographers with tripods, etc. lined up along the Helix bridge, etc taking the same shots as you! I find it so difficult to get a unique and signature photo of the Marina Sands , be it day or night.
I absolutely love this! I always wondered what your photos would be like outside of your norm and I am so hoping to see something like that now that you brought up other genres.
This is a really great series Elia, and I'm looking forward to following along. I like the fact that you have added things time with other photographers to learn more about their local community and explore different styles of work. Great stuff!
Great video. Thanks for sharing your insights. I'm originally from the UK and have lived in Singapore for 25 years. I don't take my camera/tripod out often enough but your video was motivation to get out there. Cheers.
I may have missed it, but I’m curious as to what your settings were for capturing the marina bay sands building with the lasers. I know you say your exposure was set to 1second.
Liked the video before watching... Superfan of Elia... At the end, just thought something is missing... Nice to learn about street photography too... Waiting for more videos to come..
Elia, small as Singapore maybe there's lots of other photography opportunities. Hope to see you next time hitting away from the well trodden trails of the sights and sounds of Singapore.
I have been to Singapore many times, and the locations you visited on and near the Helix bridge are the same locations I shot at, great to have your approval too. 👍
I don't actually understand how you have only got 22K followers. Suffice to say I thoroughly enjoyed this first offering and look forward to learning a little more about your work!
Good that you had a local person to guide you but I highly recommend you explore our local places like Punggol, Ang Mo Kio, Tampines and Holland Village etc. Its better than going to the typical tourist places
When the photographer said sang Nila is Indian prince made me chuckle that he's a Indonesian prince from srivijaya period and not to mention we are also with Austronesian and greatest maritime of the seafarers ...... Fun how people get things skewed the history....
It looks like an extremely promising series. I am looking forward to the coming episodes! I have a question: How long do you spend at a location and do you pass time?

It's true. The more time you can spend scouting, the better your chances are for successful shots.
