i know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Conner Graysen thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
As a Jakarta resident, I'm so unbelievably happy that you captured the essence of Jakarta for what it trully is. Not many foreign photographers showed this side of Jakarta to their journey videos like you did. A cultural sinking city with a challenging route to the secret photography spots. Thanks for the videos, Elia. Hope you, your family and crews are staying safe.
This is by far the best photography series I've seen! Thanks so much for these episodes. The combination of the location's history, culture, and all things non-photographic, plus the EPIC photography make for an amazing show! I could easily see this on the Nat Geo channel or similar! So good! Thanks for the content and best of luck with future episodes. Looking forward to it!
Camera stuff AND animal welfare - my hat off to you. Sincerely! Those poor animals. Breaks my heart to see. Thanks for showing what everyone need to see.
Interesting video, I watched it with pleasure. Finding a local guide/spotter is always very beneficial. Local people can point out things, places and practices a foreigner would have no idea about, even if they are right under his/her nose.
We are converting everything to a 35mm equivalent since the GFX is a medium format system. The three lenses I use on the GFX 100 in this episode are the 32-64 and 23mm Fujifilm Lenses and the Laowa 17mm.
@@EliaLocardi Thanks for your feedback Elia. Thought you might have a new prototype to test ;-). I also use the 17mm, 23mm, 32-64 and 100-200. But a 17-xx zoom would be a nice thing
Jakarta traffic looks insane. Glad to have you back Elia. That GFX100 for travel photography does look a little overkill, although I’d probably roll with it if I had the chance. 😃
Really like this series Elia. I just don't know if the direction you are now going with the sky replacements is the right one. Back in the flickr days were HDR was often overdone I was glad when I found your work because it was a very tastfull processing. Same was true with your time blending and the concept of Moments in Time. I also like to do time blending and compress hours into one image. For me a moment lasts much longer than the press of the shutter and it's a great technique to compress an experience into a photo. But my feeling is, putting in another sky is no longer about capturing moments in time. It's all art, that's for sure. But I think it's no longer true to what moments in time are and it also does no longer fit with the those videos - the photo suddenly looks completely different than the experience you captured in video... or I misunderstood the concept ;-) Anyways, all the best! cheers
I appreciate the insight and opinion. What I'm doing is following and helping to develop the technology. Sky replacement software isn't going away. In fact, Photoshop will roll out its own version of automatic sky replacement in an upcoming version. Whether or not it's a moral decision for each individual artist, I want to make sure that people have the highest quality skies available to choose from. I'm also working to make sure the software functions to the highest level of quality. Does that mean I'll replace skies regularly, no. Does it mean that I'll be happy there's an easy way for the times when I need to replace a sky? You bet. :)
@@EliaLocardi Thanks for answering. I agree, it will not go away. I just think the series will be better if the photos that go along with the videos show the moments as they were, even the failures. For that please keep showing the before and afters as you did here - before replacing the sky and with replacing it ;-)
Yeah, of course. MIT isn't meant to go in-depth in regards to editing. It's just meant to shed some light on the process. It's the in-the-field work that we focus on, and of course getting to learn from some of the best image makers in the world. Topic variety will vary along with editing styles. :)
Great video, love the series, it is really well excuted and produced and the photos are amazing. Ads are getting a bit much tho, feel like they break the rythm ad flow of the video too much on this one.
As a local I found that the title in the thumbnail is misleading and could trigger some people. But never mind, it's an interesting photography tour to a market that's not a popular tourist destination. Indonesia is not just Jakarta, but since it seemed that you're in a hurry or afraid of being "in a covid ground zero" then you missed a lot.
I can’t be the only one having tensed nerves seeing the GFX100 perched like that along with that X-T3 Like that time I perched my X-T3 on a railing several feet high with a clamp.
Elia, I see that you did graduate to the big brother the Fujifilm GFX 100 okay, beside printing very large are there noticeable differences when you see files sizes like the Nikon D-850? By the way have you become tired to be on the move all of the time? (Travelling is a lot of fun right?) Glad to see a video from your adventures, stay safe. Cheers.
HUGE difference. It's hard to describe until you process a raw file. As for traveling full-time, Covid has given me a long and much-needed rest from flying. I'm feeling totally energized and ready for 2021. :)
Yeah, the messaging changed now due to Covid. When we shot this in December, the idea was to show how normal this is to locals and how it's very controversial in the animal welfare community. At the time nobody knew that there would be a major viral outbreak. Besides, how else would you suggest showing what goes on there without actually going there?
@@EliaLocardi If you're that intent on highlighting what is happening in those wet markets, don't include your final images in the video. Not trying to troll here, but it really sends a mixed message when you say "no photo is worth perpetuating animal suffering" and then proceed to showcase several stunning images from a location that perpetuates animal suffering -- especially to an audience full of aspiring photographers. Just my two cents.
How else do we tell the story of this being a photographic destination for locals without showing those photos? Before Covid, the intention was to discourage but also not demonize locals for doing street photography there. Just because we are all against these markets doesn’t mean they aren’t everyday life for some people. My feeling is that showing it, explaining it from a photographic perspective is important and by showing then discouraging will turn more people away than attract. It creates awareness that doesn’t otherwise exist. People will then see those photos and say yeah, that’s visually compelling, but also not appropriate. I appreciate and understand your question, and the team and I talked about this quite a bit before deciding how to handle it. The path we took will cause more good than harm.
undermining a city is not climate change. Jakarta could easily fill the mined areas with water to keep the city from sinking and concrete to lift it back up out of the water. Corruption between politicians and mining industry prevents it. Both Los Angeles and Venice use the same technique to lift the cities out of the water.
Yes, you're right about mismanagement. Unfortunately it's rampant in the region. And unlike Venice, LA, or even Miami (which is sinking as well), SE Asian countries have limited resources and support.

livi116 I don’t know if your comment refers to my comment but the issue of animal cruelty is independent of COVID. And yes I did watch the whole video.
Jackarta sinking? Keep on burning forests and intoxicating neighboring countries is not gonna help. Because, you know, it does not happen only in Brazil as they want you to believe.

Thanks Christian! The goal was to show the beautiful side of Jakarta City. I think in the SE Asian region, it's often overlooked.
Thanks for highlighting the beautiful (and less beautiful parts) of Jakarta. Let's hope they don't make a mess of the next capital city.
Seeing a new episode was the highlight of my day. Thank you.

Loving the new series! - absolutely hands down the highlight of the week for me when an episode appears...
Great story and images. Thanks for sharing!
Great episode Elia. I’m looking forward to the rest of this season. Season 1 was great to watch too.
fun episode. dangerously ironic. good thing you presented all of the point of views. 🤟🏽

Another great video of elia... thanks for visiting jakarta
Great video, and you are right about those markets. It's a great spot but it's not OK to encourage them.
Hope to see ep 3 soon
We should have the next episode ready in October.

Thanks! It's a ton of work to put these together and we take our time to make sure they are exactly how we want them to be. :)
