I like how you don’t shy away from popular locations. At times I’ve twisted myself into a ball of stress determined to be so different from everyone else, that I’ve often come away with poor results at best, or at worst nothing.
I really love how you show such great respect and reverence for the locations, people and culture in the countries you film and photograph. You Sir are a stellar human being!
This is a great series with the perfect balance of travel blogging and photography focus. I’ve been to most of the area you’ve highlighted in the series so far so I love seeing how you saw them differently and possibly what I can do differently next time I’m there. Thank you for the inspiration and instruction!
Wow...tris is the episode that i prefer for now... you brought me back to those magnificent places giving us wonderful advice! thanks for what you're doing! you are a great source of inspiration for me, because in my small way I try to be like you when I travel! thank you again!
I love all the episodes, but if I have to choose another I choose exploring hidden tokyo...but I'm biased! I love Asia but Japan in particular! I like the way you tell things, you make them very simple, go straight to the point! I hope one day to meet you around the world and maybe do some shots together! In the meantime I follow you here and on instagram, and in one way or another you take me around the world! Thanks!!!!
Yes I believe! for example ... when you were at batu caves, it was very nice because I didn't know them! in fact with my wife we decided to go to Malaysia to see them one day!
This is my favorite one so far. It brought back great memories of my trip to Japan last summer and reminded me that i still have a bunch of pics that are still unedited!
Mr Locardi, you, more than any other human have not only have inspired me, educated me, and accelerated my growth as both a photographer and videographer. You have my enduring respect. Regardz to Naomi.
Its hard to search for good photographers who uses Fujifilm. But after finding your videos, I am motivated. Almost lose hope on my Fujifilm (after many photographers i know convert to Sony) but I love it due to the outcome of the shot is good and gives almost a natural or real color.
very nice , very relaxing at the same time it is a photography vid that is not too detailed, which for a non-professional photographer like me can fully appreciate :)
I did the same in Old Rhodes Town in Rhodes, Greece. Turned up at 5am, seen it all before the waves of tourists come, a way better experience with the best light!
Great series Elia. A fun travel show mixed with a photography blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing and talking about your locations and not just walking around with a GoPro pointed at your face!
I usually don't comment on UA-cam videos but since you asked for feedback: amazing series. It's not only entertaining but lots of great tips/insights how to get the most out of the location (useful even if you don't plan to visit that specific location). I hope this series will get many, many episodes. Thanks & best regards, Jan (from Belgium, so looking forward to the Europe episodes :) )
I just hit the the subscribe button for your channel. Hope to see you make more wonderful video like this in Japan; P/s: I like how you combine the technical shooting, entertainment and see the outstanding results with detail setup.
I love Inari jinja, I'll definitely try that shot on my next trip. Also, oddly enough when I visited the bamboo forest, it was practically empty, it was around sunset.
Thank you for a great video! It bring back memories of my trip to Japan - Unfortunately i wasn’t on site early enough to dodge the hordes of tourists. I would love to see a video of the post processing of the exposure bracketing of the Fushimi Inari shots. Cheers Chris
I have plenty of photography and post-processing tutorials available on UA-cam as well. Nothing from Fushimi Inari, but I definitely cover exposure bracketing and blending.
I really enjoy to follow your series. It's so interessting. This part fits totaly to my 3 month stay in Japan. This time I intend to have a two day stay just at Fushimi Inari-Taisha. I visited it long time ago and it will be so so interessting to see it again. ... Again big thank you and all the wonderful hints you give.
This is such a useful informative video. I'm due to go to Kyoto in just over a week and I severely underestimated the times that I have to arrive in order to beat the crowds of tourist. I will definitely get up earlier!
I really wish to take your workshop here Elia. I am in love with this place. Great work you guys..!!😍😍😍😍 each episode was so much informative. Can wait for the next release.
Droning is allowed at the castle? I brought mine for my 3 week trip to Japan, and have only flown it at Hakone so far. We're headed to a Kyoto and Osaka in a few days
rasmus9311 The bamboo forest sucks balls, Arashiyama is a nice place but I’d just go rafting down the river, who wants a variation of the same shot that’s been taken 1000000 times anyway?
Last time I was in Kyoto was right after the huge hurricane that ravaged the region (Sep 2018) and it was really heartbreaking to see all the broken bamboos. And it was packed with photographers already at 5am, lol :)
Elia Locardi yeah, that’s just so terrible. Also a reminder to us photographers and tourists to always be considerate and respectful of the environment because everything is so fragile. Can’t wait to see your tour of Europe: I don’t remember if you followed my advice to visit my hometown Florence (on Instagram, when you posted a couple story updates from Italy)... I guess I’ll see the answer here :) Again, see ya around!
Please tell me which filters (the 5 stop and 10 stop ND) are you presenting in this video. Also please tell me if you ever come to eastern Canada (born and raised in Montreal), I would love to take you around and chat as well.
AHHHHHHH I love this series so much. Eventho I focus more on video I keep learning so many new things from these series just amazing! Please keep doing this in every single country Elia!
Ohhh Kyoto is such a beautiful place. I feel in love since I visited last year. Can't wait to go there again. Thank you for making such a beautiful video...
Most of Japans tourist spots are just way to busy to enjoy. I found the sheer volume of tourists certainly took away from my experience there. I definitely would love to go back, but will be avoiding the "instagram" famous places like the plague.
Elijah, I've seen several videos of yours, and you on fstoppers, where you get places early to secure a spot before the crowds arrive. Part of my passion for photography is the solitude and peace I get out of a location when out early. I feel like I'd struggle to stay focused and passionate about landscape photography if so many people encroached on my experience. But as usual, the payoff was worth it. Great shots!
That's the main reason I like waking up early and being the first person on location. As you say, it's a way better experience when you get to discover the areas on your own and away from the crowds. I do this even if I don't plan on taking photos.
I guess I seek out those less crowded scenes maybe. When in Iceland, We slept during the day and shot at night to avoid other people and it worked great. In June the sunset/rise seemed to last for hours.
What was that SD card holder? Make and model? love how compact it is. Was thinking of using my sewing skills to make one just like that but would prefer if I can buy it
Hi Elia, just bump into your videos from some website, you really have nice video in this channel ... I saw you are using some aerial shots on your video. Did you use some kind of permit from the country or you just did a sneaky-quicky flight and shot at the place? I've had once bring my drone to abroad but never had a chance to fly it because I didn't understand the local law (even afer reading it on the web, can't find exact answers).
Hi. How do go getting that bag on a plane as carry on baggage? Quite a few of the flights I have taken have a 7kg limit which doesn’t work well when I also need my MacBook Pro onboard.
Typically they don't enforce it with electronics, so if your bag is primarily cameras, lenses, and digital devices, airlines can tend to be more lenient since they will not insure the bag if you check it. Saying that, some airlines can still be tricky with heavy carry on bags.
Hi dear Elia , as I wonder her you did in mention the brand name of filters holder and filters .. I recently brought Gfx 50s with same zoom lens 32 to 64 mm . Would please suggest me the filters Brands as I am looking for H&Y , nisi, lee and tiffen also ... please share your experience for long exposure landscape and architectural photography ... thanks ...
I like how you don’t shy away from popular locations. At times I’ve twisted myself into a ball of stress determined to be so different from everyone else, that I’ve often come away with poor results at best, or at worst nothing.
That's why I always go so early - to minimize the crowds. Or else, yes, it can get stressful.
I really love how you show such great respect and reverence for the locations, people and culture in the countries you film and photograph. You Sir are a stellar human being!
Thank you!
As usual, amazing!
I enjoy for your video

Great series so far. Have a safe trip in Europe
Soo beautiful
I love Inari jinja, I'll definitely try that shot on my next trip. Also, oddly enough when I visited the bamboo forest, it was practically empty, it was around sunset.
I definitely like this episode best so far :D it felt more like a 1 minute video

Whats the best time to travel to Japan? Great episode once again!
All four seasons have their own beauty depending on the region. But for the first visit, spring or fall would be the best.
tks have fun time and continue to share for our pleasure
Your videos are inspiring. Thank you.
Awesome.
That superb im going to japan around oct , so nice to watch this and to prepare my gear and view
Droning is allowed at the castle? I brought mine for my 3 week trip to Japan, and have only flown it at Hakone so far. We're headed to a Kyoto and Osaka in a few days
Went to Osaka Kyoto and Nara this April, it was amazing.
I love your endings always looking forward to Europe I am from Belgium but live in china for 17 years
I could never fight for a photo on location like that in the bamboo forest

Again, see ya around!
It has been a few years since I've visited Florence. Typically I'm most often in Rome.
Next time you're here, look me up & I'll show you southern Japan. ❤🇯🇵❤
Please tell me which filters (the 5 stop and 10 stop ND) are you presenting in this video. Also please tell me if you ever come to eastern Canada (born and raised in Montreal), I would love to take you around and chat as well.
I use the Format-Hitech Firecrest Ultra Filters.
So with everything in.. the bag weights 8kg thereabout?

Great episode as usual, and nice review of equipment.
When was the photo of the castle taken?
This past April.
@@EliaLocardi great for scheduling my first trip to Japan!
Great episode, but I loved Singapore through your eyes
