- Join me as I show you around Kuala Lumpur as a new tourist here. This is my first full day and I have a few errands to run. I will compare Grab Car with a Metered Taxi, find a power converter at Pavilion Mall, and visit the tallest twin towers in the world.
I appreciate everyone watching! The malls around this city are the best I've seen after visiting 15 countries. There are a couple contenders but this is one of the sweetest places for large, clean, highly logistical, and number of solid, functional malls per capita. I'm not that materialistic and I can appreciate it. Keep it up. Also, more vlogs to come. Please subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks again!
@@ChrisNomaly malls in Malaysia are not only for shopping but for recreational and escaping from hot sun, humidity and rains etc..he he
There is am apple store at TRX mall just a walking distance away or the tech mall Plaza Low Yat also a short walk. Welcome and enjoy Kuala Lumpur!
Fabulous room! Welcome to KL
I appreciate the warm welcome
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾😊
😊 Awe thanks
You seem like an expert at dodging scammers :D
Welcome to KL!
Trial and error plus a tad bit of logical reasoning. Thanks for the kind words.
@@ChrisNomalythat is why we stopped using taxi altogether. Cant get rid of them 😂😂😂😂
I'm glad im one of your first under 100 subscribers ❤

Very informative, nice job! This city is full of tall buildings and large malls. I might visit the third largest mall in the world, IOI City Mall.
@@ChrisNomaly that's great! I think IOI city mall is the second largest mall in the world if I am not mistaken
1. Iran Mall in Tehran, Iran at 22 million sq feet
2. The Avenues Mall in Al Rai, Kuwait at 13 million square feet
3 IOI Mall in Kuala Lumpur at 8.8 million square feet
These are according to Wikipedia. I found a few sources that lists things differently. By total area this looks right. Maybe by number of stores it’s different or by potential leasable space things vary. Either way it’s a big one. :)
Now I’m showing Dubai Mall at 13 million square feet. This is a good inquiry. Doesn’t seem like sources can agree on how to define largest mall.
@@ChrisNomalyyup, IOI mall is the third largest mall in the world

Brother u missed the air conditioned elevated walkway from Pavilion to KLCC/Petronas BUT u see the city better from street level
I might check that one out next time. Thanks for the pointer. :)
@@ChrisNomaly21:31 it is right above you
U actually can use a skywalk briage to KLCC from Pavilion . 🤭
Haha that would have been helpful :). I’m sure the view is incredible. I’ll look it up. Thank you for the info
last time i rode a taxi was 20 years ago and i don't plan to ride one anytime soon
True that. Keep cycling or ride an accountable, data driven vehicle. Pretty soon we won’t even deal with human drivers. Many cities today pick you up with a robot only taxi along specified routes.
Welcome to kl
I'm happy to be here. I've met many friendly, sophisticated, and happy people so far. It is amazing the high level of English proficiency!
RM85 for an original iphone adapter is a bargain. Luckily you found Urban Republic at Pavilion. There's a skywalk bridge from Pavilion to Klcc. at least it'll protect you from the sun rain and cars
Yea I’m lucky to stumble upon that store and find a 15% discount on such a nice item. Many suggestions are to use that skywalk. I need to check it out next time I’m in the area.
Not far from. Pavilion, there are two mall nearby for dedicated gadgets, computer and electronic items.
One is lowyat plaza and for old items you may go down the hill a bit for imbi plaza.
As someone nearly 50 and pure kl boy.. Old Taxi driver mindset can't be change.. But younger one they choose to be metered and grab driver at same time.. And they usually do the right way. But this oldies are difficult due to ages practicing the method..
One good thing metered taxi driver is that when traffic is heavy. The meter start charge distance and time.. More slower they driver more money will be charge.. That's how they make money... That's why metered taxi only good for short distance or no traffic place. Especially from lrt mrt Station to home
Makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for the insight.
When you need more info or some reliable info - ask local people, managers or owner of retail shop, service centre, cafe....
Yes, I find many helpful and informative locals. Thanks for the comment.
No one take taxi in KL except for tourists 🤣🤣🤣 and never take whatever they say regarding politics & economy at face value (same goes to any talkative Grab driver)
Sound advice there. We were given two ears and one mouth for a reason.
@@ChrisNomaly btw, those photographers/scammers are foreigners. Also, if you think Pavilion is lit wait until you see The Exchange TRX. They even have Apple store there too. It's actually walking distance from Pavilion
@@supermik So much to explore. Thanks for the recommendation. I will try to tell a story while highlighting all the great things about this city. It came in so clutch for me. I love many things about SE Asia and this is such a gem out here.
I prefer taking mrt/lrt whenever roaming the city..its small beautiful city anyway..
I need to find public transportation options, especially if I stay longer. I saw a few trains running overhead. Not sure about subway systems yet. I’ll check out mrt/lrt.
Most if not all of those photographers are not Malaysians. It best to avoid them.
Yea it seemed a little fishy that so many were out there without professional equipment.
@@ChrisNomaly
They havent broken any laws so the authorities can take actions i suppose. But still when they charge unreasonable prices, it will reflect negatively on Malaysia.
The local dont use taxi lol. They avoid using the meter and always ask for more
Don’t use the taxi bro. They sometimes ripped people to get some extra cash. Just used the grab.
Just avoid meterless taxi
Grab and inDrive are the best I've seen so far. Metered taxi's are a relic of the past. This is coming from myself who drove a "gas and gate" taxi in America. Seeing the industry up close made me realize it was on its way out. I transitioned to Uber and Lyft which was safer for both parties. I still might drive a bit if I go back to the US, it would make for interesting content.
I cannot believe this is Asia 😮. Wow , so developed city.
United states & European countries are crumbling & worst 🥴
Kuala Lumpur is the best value city in the world as of now. I think that’s safe to say. For the prices you get safety, high quality food, transportation, clean air, no excessive noise pollution, and if you want to buy real estate it’s the lowest per square foot of many cities of its size.
The taxi driver was actually telling u d truth..taxis frm airport or d main train station kl sentral use coupons..not meter..pre calculated fixed rates for certain destinations
Correct. My fare from the airport to the condo was 55 Ringgit on a flat rate, prepaid at the airport taxi desk. If this driver would have negotiated the fare to pavilion ahead of time, I would have been more understanding.
I drove a gas and gate taxi, as well as Uber and Lyft in some major cities throughout the United States. Although I’m quite a few years out of that racket, I understand these guys are trying to maximize their income potential.
@@ChrisNomaly ic..and the taxi driver was wrong for not turning on d meter at d first place tht i hv to agree..but he did tell u d right thing abt different fare rules here
