    I have the T3 and T4 hub tents .Both are bomb proof. I had the T4 set up without staking it in when a serious storm with ground level cross winds came through and the tent was not bothered. I recommend running a bead of clear silicone around the top of the inner velcro otherwise you will wake up to an infestation of ants and other bugs.Before doing so run a 6 way outlet through the right side and silicone it in place permanently. I put mine on the right side about a third of the way back so that i can access any electronics and also keep remotes etc in the right side pouch . Also seal the the eyebolts where they pass through fabric. They did leak in both tents before sealing, Also use tent seam seal around the fabric surrounding the eyebolts. I bought a 13 foot line of usb led lights that i wound around the interior tent poles throughout the entire tent. I use a power bank to run them and they work great at lighting up the tents plus they change colors, strobe and other effects .When setting up tent only pull out 2 sides then put on all of rain fly before pulling out other 2 sides then step inside and pop up center .. Pull out sides nice and easy while stepping on bottom fabric at grommet. Do the same when taking it down . --Pop 2 sides in then pop top down from outside then take rain fly off then pop last 2 sides in and remember to wrap up tight with velcro straps before putting it in carry bag ...Use a magic marker to mark a spot where you want tent positioned whenever setting it up . I marked a F (for Front)on upper right corner so that as I start to set up tent I look for the F and spin tent so that that side of tent is where I like it . I am right handed so i prefer a door to be positioned on the right side when set up..Ps If you ever break a tent pole I think Tractor Supply store has some fiberglass poles that are the same or similar size. They don't sell them as tent poles but i think they are same size.

      Hi!! Thank you so much for the input I really appreciate it, especially cos I don't have the T3. 🥰 Oh I'm really glad that you managed to stay dry! I didn't think that it was possible to seal the eyebolts, thanks for letting me know! What did you use to seal it? Oooh the tip on silicone is really helpful too! And the tips on the rainfly setup and the fiberglass replacement poles! 🥰 I was really careful when using this tent cos I didn't want anything to break 😅

      So seal up the bottom and never remove it right?

I’m actually planning my next camping trip and you and your channel instantly came to mind so I figured I’d drop by and check-in to see how things are going. I’ve been catching up, watching all your videos. I’m loving the content! I see you’ve reviewed the Gazelle tent - FINALLY! I’m absolutely in love with mine. It’s pretty big, but thankfully I have a SUV so I just throw on the roof rack and I’m on my way! Some of the cons you stated I shared concerns with. This is why I opted for the overland edition which is a worthwhile upgrade, imo. The quality is amazing and is by far the best tent I’ve ever owned. The only reason I’d upgrade is to get a larger one because now when our families come together, everyone wants to abandon their tents and sleep in mine, LOL! I’ve been watching all your videos so I can catch up on your content - of course I have to support you! Next up is your 1 and 2 person tents because having one on hand would allow me to have some peace on camping trips without being people invading my space, LOL!

      Hi Steve! Thanks so much for letting me know! What would you like to see on the simulation about getting the tent dry before packing? Tbh, if I'm rushing, I just dump everything into a much larger bag, but I separate the muddy flooring so the rest of the tent doesn't get dirty. Otherwise, I prefer to just let the tent dry under the hot sun for an hour or so, then I pack it up. I hope this helps! 🥰

    I had a T4 for years. It was the tent I used at home and kept it up for about 4 months a year for a place my dogs and I can sleep outdoors. I even slept out in it in 10 degrees F in the snow with a Buddy Mr. Heater. It was great but the weight and size finally caused me to trade it in for a Big Agnes Big House. It worked great for a tall cot because the walls were so vertical. For cool weather and longer stays, it's really worth it. I didn't really have trouble with leaking...maybe a drop here or there.

    • @CampingGuidance

      Hi Deborah! Thank you so much for your constant support and comments, and as always I appreciate your input! 🥰 Oh wow this can take 10 degrees F? I can't imagine what that's like, I've never even been in that kind of weather! 😅 But I'm really glad to know that, maybe next time I would be able to try it out myself too. I hope the Big Agnes Big House is working well for you! Just curious though, how did you come to pick the Big House over all the other Big Agnes models? I'm eyeing the Bunk House myself, but I haven't fully decided 🤔

    • @deborahnaybor2233
      @deborahnaybor2233 6 місяців тому

      I liked the Big House as it is light weight, easy to set up and less mesh than some of the other tents that size (cooler weather even in summer means we northerners want less mesh. I did have a problem with rain coming in the door if I didn't close it completely. I bought the vestibule, which was a little bit tough to get completely sealed but using guylines to tighten up everything worked. I think I've had it for 5 years but just sold it. I just love changing tents. Just bought the Wawona 6 person based on your recommendation(and used the affiliate link)!

    I own the T4 version without the hub, and Gazelles are the type of tent that isn't perfect, but fills a particular niche that works really well for that specific market. It's great for inexperienced or older campers who want an easier setup and teardown which you don't have to stuff into a sack like a Coleman. It provides a ton of room and works really well for multi-day camping trips because of the size configuration. It's not an great tent for winter use, but it's doable, especially if you use a Buddy heater.
    The cons aren't necessarily deal-breakers, but you have to make allowances for them. It's massive when packed up and you need either a large truck bed or backseat fold-down for it to fit. The doors can be annoying to go through, but that's a tradeoff for the ease of setup in the design. The ventilation admittedly leaves a lot to be desired, even with the rainfly off--that no-see-um mesh actually restricts the airflow more than necessary.

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  6 місяців тому

      Hi Christopher! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know about your experience ! 🥰 Wait, there's a Gazelle tent without the hub? Which one is that? I had no idea, I thought they all had hubs 😅 And yeah I agree with the niche market that it fills for sure, there's actually a surprising number of people out there who love this type of instant setup and pack away tents. I only realized after reviewing a few of these videos haha
      And yeah we do have to work with the cons for sure, I wouldn't call them deal-breakers either, like you said. Oh but I thought the ventilation in this tent wasn't too bad! I've definitely been in worse tents haha. And the mesh I don't think is no-see-um though, I'm just eyeballing it but I think the mesh holes are a little too big to be no-see-um? I could be wrong though! 😅

      @chomp54321 6 місяців тому

      Is there a version of T4 without hubs? Was it a very old design? In any case, I don't agree that the quick setup is only for the inexperienced and older campers. There is something to be said about being able to erect a tent quickly to settle and give shelters to little ones. Many overlanders also like the quick setup and teardown. As for winter use, people have modded the T4 to be used as a hot tent (i.e. using a wood-burning stove for warmth).

      Hey Chris! Hmm I think that would help a little bit, but especially the hub areas might still leak. If you haven't bought this yet, I'd recommend the T4 Plus instead! It has a longer rainfly which covers up some of the problem areas.

    Great review and I reckon this tent has a lot of interest. It is a great tent, however the pack size is pretty large. Coleman Instant-up series does the exact same as this but are much more manageable in size. I love the removable floor design as you can clean it out much more thoroughly then a fixed floor design. The mechanism though, I reckon, needs a long term durability test. Great concept and I hope they move to aluminium poles in the next iteration. Thanks for the review Liz, cheers. I'm taking about the 4P instant, however the one's in Australia are different as they come with a full rain-fly and awning. Yes they are different, but being quick pitch and freestanding, Coleman did a much better job on those with steel poles.
      Nah, I'm just a bloke with a regular 9-5 routine who loves review vids and watch heaps of them😂😂But I'm glad you find the feedback useful.

      @@CampingGuidance Oh take your time, quality over quantity mate. Australia has some pretty rad tent setups, worth checking.
      I have a Decathlon chair the one that looks like a Helinox. I find that very low to the ground and not very comfortable. I was looking at the Big Agnes armrest chair, like the one you have. I need something that packs pretty small so it can fit my motorbike pannier. Budget is not an issue as I'll just be buying one chair or 2 at the most. So I'd like you recommendation on something that fits the bill. Thanks and cheers👍

      Hi Wer Kar! Thanks so much for your understanding 🥰 And yeah I struggle with perfectionism too, so I'm trying to find the right balance between quality and quantity 😅 I'm not really happy with the number of videos I was able to put out this year though, so I'm hoping to change that next year.
      Oh okay! I don't have any Quechua chairs at the moment, but I do have the Helinox Chair Zero, One, and Two! I thought they were pretty comfy (nowhere as comfy as my huge REI chairs), but I do agree that they're pretty low to the ground so I won't recommend those. If you don't mind a Helinox though, I found that my Chair Two is the most comfy. I've been meaning to buy the Sunset chair too, cos I've heard great reviews about those, and it looks alot like the chair two. The Big Agnes is a little comfier than the Helinox, and the arm rests are a great touch, but it packs down a little bigger. But still pretty packable overall, definitely the most packable after my Helinox. The other chairs I have are all car camping chairs (REI, Yeti, Alps Mountaineering King Kong). Those definitely won't fit your motorbike haha.
      Oh man so sorry for the late reply though! Somehow your comment got filtered to spam :( I hope you manage to get one on a deal!

    When I saw this video on my list, I dropped everything and watched it. Am I betraying myself as a Gazelle fan boy? 😂I really appreciate the efforts that you've put into reviewing this tent. I agree with all the pluses and minuses that you've pointed out of this tent. In fact they all apply to the Gazelle's family of tents, from the smallest T3 to the big brother T8/T4 Plus. If they would change anything, please make the rain fly cover the windows and doors better.
    You mentioned that there is no power cord port, but in fact you can just pull a bit of the floor from the wall to allow the cord in. This is perhaps better than a fixed power cord port location because the electrical outlet is not always the shortest distance from the port after the tent is oriented the way you want it. In Ontario, some of the provincial park campsites can be as far as 100 ft away from the electrical outlet.
    Lastly, Gazelle tents (and gazebos too) are pretty sturdy. Unless there is a strong wind, the guy lines are pretty much optional. Even at that, just put one on the upwind side. I have a Gazelle G6 gazebo (6 sided), which went through a thunderstorm that passed right through the campground. I did not see that coming and did not guy out the gazebo, though I staked down all 6 corners. Only the upwind side collapsed and needed a guy line.
    Well done as always. Keep up the good work.

      Aww thank you so much!!! 🥰 I was thinking of you when I watched this video, I remember you've told me about it on a few occasions, so of course I already knew that you were a total Gazelle fan boy 😉 Actually I've just realized that the T8 Plus Hub tent looks like it has a much longer rainfly that could help with the problems I encountered! Is that something you have? I wanna buy it but it's $1.5K over in Singapore which is a bit ridiculous for now :(
      And OMG your power port tip is GENIOUS! Thank you so much for letting me know! It didn't even occur to me at all despite me having loved the removable feature 😅 And yeah it's definitely a lot more handy than a fixed point power port too!
      Thank you for also letting me know how this does in the wind! Any chance you might know what the limit of this Gazelle T4 is in the wind? Did you get a chance to test that out? 😁

    • @chomp54321
      @chomp54321 6 місяців тому

      @@CampingGuidanceThank you for your kind reply. The T8's fly is a bit better but the weak point is the door where the protrusion of the fly is not really enough to cover it, so some rain will get in if you get in or out when raining. This weakness is shared by the T4 Plus, although the door configuration is different.
      I don't have a T4, so I can't really comment on how well it performs in high winds. My instinct is that it would do better than my G6, which stands much taller and has bigger walls. BTW, I was using the all-terrain stakes that came with the G6, which are much beefier than those that came with your T4.

So we did wind up getting a Coleman. However, she found that the door did not close squarely, blaming a change in the design (Coleman got rid of the rod that acted as the hinge). Hello, thank you very much for making these videos, they are very helpful. I have no experience with tents and I just got this tent. It seems pretty good overall but I am having one issue. On both both doors, the zippers are very stiff along the bottom. Almost too stiff to zip them. You mentioned if a door zipper was too stiff, to adjust the stake near the door. But I didn't have any stakes in at all though because I was just testing it in my yard. Do you think having no stakes was the problem and if I fully stake it would fix the door?

      Thank you so much for the Super Thanks! I really appreciate it 🥰 Hmm I don't think having no stakes is the problem. Some tents do run a bit tight, so what I do is leave them out (fully staked) for a few days, and eventually it'll loosen up. You may want to try that!

      The design is almost identical to fishing tents. The poles are solid fiberglass and not hollow. The ice fishing tents have to be strong enough to take blasts of cold Arctic winds.
      The weakness is that the roof poles can invert down strong winds, and this can be mitigated with a telescoping pole used to support the roof.
