I love your videos. I'm a disabled man of 62, & I always enjoy watching your adventures in the rain and bad weather. I would so love to be doing it too. Thank you Luke for keeping the videos coming. From St. Louis Missouri
Here is a really handy pro tip for you, free of charge. If you're camping somewhere and the wind gets rough, or it gets stormy and you're worried about trees around you, then you're going to want to park your truck, or vehicle next to your tent, snug up against it just as close as you can get it. Preferably on your side where the worrisome trees are located. That way if one of those trees decides to blow over on top of you in the middle of the night while you're sleeping, the vehicle is going to take a lot of the impact and force and it just might save your life. Yes your vehicle might get damaged, or destroyed, but a vehicle can be replaced, your life cannot.
There is some merit to your thoughts. Sometimes what you said would be sufficient....but sometimes it is simply in God's hands. Last year I lost some very dear friends, husband and wife. They were in their camper in a very wooded area. A tornado game through their area and dropped several huge trees on them, their camper and his truck. Sometimes it is simply that your time is up! Despite their tragedy, I still go camping and don't allow their tragedy to hinder my love for the great outdoors....and I'm sure they would agree!
Luke, I am sorry the tent is leaking but this is one of my favorites. I love the sound of “powerful winds” blowing in a forest. Takes me back to some of my favorite times as a kid! I would hide in the sparse forest near our home so my father could not beat me. I associate storms with “peace and safety.” At 77 I am over that trauma but I still adore wind and heavy rain. 🙏❤️🦅
Glad you made it through. I think many don’t realize how recent the idea is that the home should be a place of safety is. Not that long ago, the only sate places were what we could make or find on our own.
God bless you Marion. I'm so sorry for what you went through with someone who should have loved and protected you. Regarding the tent leaking, I agree with you 110%, especially since these tents COST $959.00!!! I looked it up!
That a fact. But after seeing all the gear he brought for an over-night camp, I'm surprised he didn't have a portable garage or something for that 4Runner. 😄
The older ones yes. The newer ones have a problem with the thickness of the gaskets on the upper engine block. The new v8's fail at a high rate and repairs cost as much as buying a new engine.
I appreciate you making these videos to test gear to the extremes so we know if it’s reliable or not… I hope you also get to enjoy some nice weather camping for yourself as well.
@@susanwright6785 the best tent I've owned is the "Bushmen core tent lodger" combined with "DD Tarp 3x3 MC". Highly suggest looking into it! It's about $350 and what's so cool about it is the fact your rain fly can be multi-use since it's a tarp. @@nicodoe9396 I initially used a couple of inflatable sleeping pads I had and it was ok. The difference between those and the memory foam comfort wise is significant. I’m in the PNW but haven’t had any issues so far. The air conditioner in my 4runner tends to keep things dry. I flip up the bottom portion and put my fridge there in transit. I was on the Linville ridge when this storm came through. It was a wild ride to say the least. 65 mph wind gusts, 29 degrees, sideways rain, and sleet. Fun for the whole family.
Does weather make life interesting? I moved to Wyoming from Georgia, and a 20 degree day with 20+ mph winds is par for the course here. At 50+ mph, the wind picks up gravel to throw against the windows. We've clocked winds at 80 mph and temps as low as -36 (without wind chill). Wyoming's state wind sock is a truck chain!
I have been backpacking and camping for close to 50 years and still love it. Weather can happen before you know it, even if you look at the forecast. Things change in nature and sometimes you just have to deal with what you have before you. Make sure you have good gear and you will be fine, but you need to know what you are doing and not do anything stupid or nature will make you pay for sure. I backpack mostly from December to April. In the summer there are to many bugs and to many people. Have fun out there and be safe. I love Wyoming. Not to keen on the grizzlies, but you have to take care when you are in an area with animals that look at you as dinner. Bear spray does not work. A 45/70 rifle is what will do the job.
I love the clear door, and the sturdiness in that wind. The fact it maintains it shape in those winds is really impressive. If the company improved the seams and maybe figured a way to vent the tent under the fly, it would improve the performance and make it worth the price tag.
I love the fact that you say it how it is. Honesty goes a long way and in my personal opinion, it’s one of the key features of being a real man. I have a ton of respect for who you are, what you do, and your content. Keep up the good work. Your videos have led me to purchase some great gear and walk away from some things I really had my eye on. Thank you,
Luke, disabled here, shoulders hands legs and feet. Osteoarthritis. Wheelchair bound but my brain is great!. Motorvater?? May be one of my weak moments. Yep probably. You are a blessing to so many. Keep it up.
Why do you keep apologizing for the outside wind noise? I loved it!! In fact, I could hear you perfectly fine, and that wind noise made it a very real and nice virtual experience for me.
Thanks Luke for another great adventure. Enjoy the 4runner. I had my doubts about the tent when you were setting it up because of the mylar. It seemed like it was going to be a bad condensation magnet. But, thanks for hanging in there. Almost any day in the woods is better than a day not in the woods. Stay safe and God bless.
I have a 2023 Tacoma now but I am really looking at the 2024 4Runner. With the Taco, I only have the choice of my dogs OR people riding in the backseat, and none of my friends or family like riding in the truck bed.😊
My first German tent 40 years ago had an ante-room. Glad to see this one. I really loved to be able to sit in mine watching the rain sheet down as campers scampered past miserable because their stoves were out. I opened the clear zippered door slightly for airflow and drank hot tea like a Lady!
I’ve had one for almost three years and I still love it. If you plan on sleeping in the back you will need to be shorter than 6’3” and there’s a hump that needs to be built up I’ve found a 4” foam pad works best good luck

I just shut down my UA-cam channel after 7 years of reviewing guitars along with my brother. We never reviewed a guitar that I didn't purchase at full price with my own money, except for a couple of my brother's personal axes. I didn't want anyone to question the integrity of our reviews because we were getting free guitars. I don't think it's possible to stay honest when you are getting free items for review because you always have to consider that factor. I'm rather proud of that.

I have a oplarus 4 person tent for me and my wife and I love the idea of having a protected area for camp gear, cooking and a hang spot. Not many tent companies have good options or tried a concept that fell flat or was a cheap gimmick. That simple clear waterproof window looking out is a cool useful idea, a sense of peace at mind being about to see out while protected from the elements. Great stuff!

I really do like that Door with a View.
I like the tent and this style of video.
Keep it up.
Brilliant purchase going with the 4Runner. Have had ours for several years now you cannot go wrong.
I like your 4Runner. I've been driving mine for 20 years and can't say enough good things about them.
Why do you keep apologizing for the outside wind noise? I loved it!! In fact, I could hear you perfectly fine, and that wind noise made it a very real and nice virtual experience for me.
The 4runner is Kool !
Awesome nice 4Runner
The 4Runner needs it's own name.

@@captrockh2055that's the best YOU could come up with? PATHETIC
I love the Pisgah national forest, star gazing up on top of max patch is fantastic!
I just bought a 4Runner also! They are simply amazing!! You made the right choice with the proven 4.0 / 5Sp. Congratulations
I have a2010 fj and it is the best vehicle. 260 thousand miles and only replaced an alternator…awesome
No one weathers the storms like this young man. Kudos.
Welcome fellow 4Runner - Strength and Honor.
Thanks!
Ahhh the joys of car camping where you can sleep in a tent 4x bigger than you need and would ever carry backpacking!!
Thanks for another cool camping trip Luke.
You are doing a great job. If someone doesn't like your videos you gave the right answer. 🤝
What’s up with the wind noises when you’re setting up the tent but no tree tops are moving at all ?
The 4runner is slick.
Love the new 4 runner! I’m wanting to bite the bullet and buy one.
I’ve had one for almost three years and I still love it. If you plan on sleeping in the back you will need to be shorter than 6’3” and there’s a hump that needs to be built up I’ve found a 4” foam pad works best good luck
@@user-fl5qe1xt3r thank you!!!!
Do it.
Me too! Even at a discounted rate around 48 OTD the payments seem crazy.
@@user-fl5qe1xt3rHow bout if I'm 6'? I don't want to remove seats to make a platform. I've been sleeping in the back of my 6' Tacoma bed for many years now.
Late response, I know - but I can vouch for Luke being exceptionally helpful. I did a couple trial runs of a tentless winter camp, and he was very generous with his insights. Thanks again Luke!
I am sure Ankhiale Outdoors will address the problem with the defective taping. Could be the glue doesn't adhere to the silvery mylar.
Great review. I admire your honesty. If Ankhiale manages to fix this issue I hope to see an actual review of this tent.
Sweet 4 runner Luke. 😊
Thank you for having the common sense to not include your chewing or swallowing sounds, You're a godsend.
I love my 1995 4 runner ! Classic, Cherry condition 😁
Tent looks very nice. Thanks Luke 🎉🎉and b2.
Great video as always Luke it's a no go on the tent hopefully they can correct the seam leaking problem.
Love to 4Runner and I like the tent. And a clear door in a tent...genius. makes being in the tent, because it's raining, so much better. Sucks about the leaking though.
I love that tent
Hi Luke, Marine here - it's called the rifleman's creed.
Jarhead’s creed: This is my weapon. This is my gun. This is for killin’. This is for fun.
I love your 4 runner. And good for you for sticking up for yourself on the comments.
I still believe extra large tarps. With a decent tent underneath it. Seems to be the way to go.
My husband and I notice that you have always been a champion of American made products when possible and we appreciate that! That’s why we thought it funny that you bought a Toyota 4 Runner. Now, I know they are built here in Ky and in fact our son in law has worked for them for many years. But again, we just got a chuckle out of that.
All 4Runners are built in Toyota's Tahara plant in Japan...
Great choice on the 4runner.. I have a TRD off-road and love it.
I am soooooo jealous of your 4Runner!!! I absolutely love it!
Hey Luke,, thank you for this video.. stay safe outthere..👍👍👍👍
Loving your channel all the way over here in the UK. Good honest reviews and I envy your job! My son and I usually watch an episode before bedtime and it sets us up for a good nights sleep seeing you out in all weathers but usually warm, dry and comfortable. Keep up the good work and thank you.
4Runner!!!
I love that this tent has a window type flap so that you can see out at the storm, so cool
Nice ride my friend.
Luke keep doing what you are doing. I appreciate your channel cause you are straight up.
What is your new channel dedicated to... Virtue signalling?
If you are honest with integrity, you can give honest reviews. Luke has given honest reviews and suggested improvements to the suppliers.
I like watching your videos, learning things. What I got out of today was how you went around and cracked the ice surface. The crinkling and breaking made me smile big. I did that since I was a child. I love doing that! Ty
Love from India 🇮🇳 I really enjoy your videos, they give me solace and inspire the adventures side of me. Thank a lot sir.

Hi Luke
I’ve followed your channel for years and enjoy the honest advice and ad-free content. I subscribe to UA-cam premium because I don’t want ads. If people recommend items or include ads in their content, I skip straight through them or unsubscribe.
I wholeheartedly support you on this and look forward to many more honest videos. 🇬🇧👌
By the way, love the truck 👌👌
4Runner. Not bad and you won’t regret it. I test drove one the other day - I like my Jeep so much better. Especially on the performance side. But, you will have more space and a better, quieter ride. And better dependability - although I’m rough on my Jeep and it’s held up very well.
Jeep won't last as long as a 4Runner
probably not
Mr. Tuckerson... All Due Respect, BUT Jeep Wrangler is 'great' ONLY FOR doing Rubicon Trail or Moab... because of it's Compactness (approach angles) Height (lifted) and larger wheels (37")
But MY 2024 4Runner TRD Pro will 'Tail Gate' You and PASS You When You BREAK DOWN... WE CAN GO FURTHER AND STAY OUT LONGER By Virtue of INCREASED PAYLOAD CAPACITY... More Food, Water and AMMO... WITH 3 PASSENGERS...!!! (4 Man Fire Team)
YES, You're Right Jeep Wranglers' Have Great Performance... BUT 4RUNNER IS MORE CAPABLE AND THEREFORE...BETTER!!!
Park your Jeep and Join the 4Runner
Club... Suggest... buy a new 2024 5th Gen 4runner Off Road Premium (OFP) like Luke did or a 2024 4Runner TRD Pro like I did... US$64,915.31...
New 6th Gen will be Revealed later this year for 2025... What will power it...??? This We Definately KNOW... It will Only Have 2.4L 4Cylinder Turbo...
Everyone is Buying the 2024 5th Gen
Last Of A Breed... The Keeper...
YOU SHOULD TOO BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE...!!!

New subscriber, just had my 5th shoulder surgery. I am a doctor and have always enjoyed the outdoors beit by myself or with one of my 4 kiddos. I will be down a while with this surgery but have soo enjoyed your videos , I am praying I will again enjoy the beauty of this great nation soon!! Thanks for the inspiration. Stay safe and continue the wonderful content!
Check out Kent Survival ..hes done 2 videos in see thru tents ..one a geodesic dome and the most recent a regular clear tent . I wouldnt have wanted to have been in the last one in rain. Both good videos tho !
That's a good looking tent. i do hope they reconsider the complete mylar inner, maybe just remove the section covered by the fly for airflow. Thanks Luke
That’s a $1300 tent no thank you
Why is Luke reviewing so many elite priced products? Is he getting free samples?
And it doesn't even come with a floor either.
@@chrismoore7287the part to sleep in has a floor. It the part that is usually open.
If yall are broke just say it. 1,300 is nothing lol. If you can’t freely spend that without hurting yourself then you need to get off yt and re evaluate your life!
For $1,300 I think I'll get a naturehike massive and still have $700 left over to buy groceries and my wife some chocolates n flowers for allowing me to actually buy the tent.
Hi Luke. Thank you for your video today.I must say I really like your new truck.it’s a shame the tent leaked it’s was nice looking.I’m not sure the door is keeping the heat in to be honest. I love the heater & the light . Glad your safe. 🇬🇧🌅🙋♀️
Who needs a white noise machine to sleep with that wind, eh?
Nothing more fun than storm camping .................. and remaining dry n cozy
Thank U! Love ur videos to unwind, they are total de stressors, thank U! ❤
Enjoy the videos. Haven’t done much camping in recent years. I’m old enough to remember my Dad outfitting our camping in the late 50’s and early 60’s with war surplus leftovers - we had a four man army canvas tent that weighed a ton and took hours to set up. Folding wood cots. A lot different now.
I love the tent
Love the clear door feature. Nice to be able to see outside but still be sheltered from the elements!
