    I spoke with Gazelle and they advised for winter camping to do this simple trick. Get a moving blanket and throw it over the top, right before you put on the rainfly, get one that's large enough, then add the rainfly and pop it up. That will help keep the heat in. Also, use Reflectix R-21 insulation for the ground, it's light weight and inexpensive, keeps the cold air from coming up from the ground.

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  Місяць тому +2

      @andrewgates5413 those are great tips! I use a wool blanket on the top if it is cold enough.
      If you do not cover the top, it does help with condensation if you are running propane heat.
      Depends on how cold it gets 😁

    I have had the Gazelle tent for a couple of years now. I actually enjoy putting it up. Their overland stakes (like you have) are excellent; probably the best tent stakes you can buy. In fact, I would buy the "OVERLAND" tent stakes even if I was not going to buy this tent. However, it is not a four season tent as the roof is entirely vented under the rainfly. Meaning heat will escape; which is great for summer but not good for winter.

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  7 місяців тому +4

      I agree on the stakes!!
      I have been camping up to -21 and so far so good. If you put a wool blanket on the top net pocket, keeps the heat in a lot better.

    I have the T3plus and really like it. I’ve camped several times with it and spent the week at scout camp in it. I got a diesel heater last Monty but have not had a chance to try it. 👍🏻

      That's awesome!! I have considered the T3 because it takes up less room in the Jeep once it is packed up. The diesel heater will make a difference in cold weather for sure.

    How is it for keeping water out? Do you need to treat the fabric?

    • @OverlandAlberta

    I have an amazing tip to keep the heat from escaping so much, use a heavy duty tarp like 8 x 8 between the rainfly and the mesh netting of the tent.

    Hey Jason, I love mine too !!! It's so nice to be able to stand up and get dressed or just walk around abit in there. Your right it's not a 4 season but a moving blanket cut down to size or a wool blanket makes a huge difference. Also with the buddy heater you can place a thermal fan on it and it pushes the heat around so nice. I have to diesel heater but haven't tried that yet, just don't go camping in the snow and cold to offten :) I have just the regular one but always have a ground tarp and home made tent pegs I think the other difference with the Overland Edition is that the storage bag is water resistant... Other than that I think they are the same. Great video all the best bud !!!

      No not really. The heater has a low oxygen sensor and I always vent both sides of the tent. mostly to cut down on condensation but also to ensure fresh air. been using the buddy for 4 years and never had an issue. Going to a Diesel heater soon...

    Getting pretty stoked to receive mine from Gear4Overland. After a lot of consideration I decided a roof top tent just wasn’t for me. I want to be able to set up camp, go exploring and not have to tear down camp and pack up if I decide to head out for a bit. Plus works better for the dog and having room to stand up and move around to change clothes or just hang out in bad weather is much more enjoyable. An added plus is the cost savings and weight savings. Also does not throw your centre of gravity off like a rooftop

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  4 місяці тому +1

      Those are great questions!
      1) The ventilation is really good in the tent. There are windows with bug screens on all panels and the roof has a bug screen open to the top that you pull the rain fly over top.
      2) the only bugs that get in are when you open the door to get in and out. Otherwise no issues.

    I ordered my second t4 a few days ago, this time I'm going with the overland edition. My previous one did last about 4 years, and it is still decently holding well. It just smell little bad since we did a lot of rainy camping with it (I camps about 10 times per year including wintertime.). This time I will make sure to dry it more diligently after those bad weather camping. overall I love this tent, no complains except for the packing size. I cannot find any other substitutes in current market other than ordering the upgraded version of the same t4 (overland edition). Nemo Highrise was the one of the closest candidates, but I saw some bad reviews complaining about rain leaks and durability issue. So I decided to stay with the one I loved already. no reason to risk to try other brands lol.
