The National Institute of Standards and Technology have announced they're switching the world's time keeping from the radiation decay cycle of Cesium to Tomas Haake's drumming.
Great comment, from a dimensional metrologist that deals with NIST!
Don't tell that to Gene Hoglan ....
@@marcdowell6658 or Danny Carey.
Imagine how mad that drummer would be in bed. Holy f
Well, considering his timing is perfect and the tempo is infact pretty stanard, it meens the time would stat the same?
"He's so good it pisses me off."
@Delmar Badal wow bro who tf cares
@@merciless2032 😝😡
“It’s too much for my black metal ears!” 😂
i laughed so hard when he said that 😂😂😂
Me too!🤣🤣🤣
Vocals: *"Aggressive"*
Bass: *"Heavy"*
Guitars: *"Crazy"*
Drums: *It's called "Bleed" for some reason!*
Truth lmao, same on guitar
It’s refreshing to hear Boris compliment Jens. A lot of amateur or nonmusical listeners say the vocals are Meshuggah’s weakness. But in fact, the rhythm of Jens vocals, and his consistency in live performances, shows off his musical intelligence. Boris is the second guy I’ve seen single out Jens’ vocals-the other was a professional songwriter.
@@davewolf6256 fax, dude sounds amazing live, and he's just as much an important piece to what meshuggah is as the guitars and drums.
Hotel? : Trivago
I’ve followed Mesh for 25 years. And your reaction put it perfectly:
“How”
"He have 3 hee hat" 🤣
Imagine when I was editing and I notized that I said "hee hat" for the whole video.. 🤦♂️
@@borist. That's perfectly alright! I knew what you meant. 👍🤣Still, it was pretty funny.. I'm sorry. Not trying to make you feel bad!💖
It’s his accent
@@lindsay8320 And a nice accent it is.💖I didn't even notice that he said "hee hat" at first.. I was too busy enjoying the video. Wonderful job Boris!
I was actually surprised that a black metal drummer said Bleed is "too much" for them...
Great reaction anyways
Keep blasting my friend
considering the rhythmic patterns of black metal, i think this may be too much for most people. i'm not speaking of the sheer speed, like the great Nicholas Barker does, also his taste to pick his beats is superb.
Black metal isn't really about dynamics. Meshuggah is all about dynamics,
@@seaofseeof agreed
@@domonkosscheiling5809 one of the crazy things in the song is that the hertas on the double pedal keep relentlessly changing. It's a deluge of change.
@@seaofseeof Depends on what bands you listen to... Dodecahedron, for example, is literally black metal Meshuggah.
From one drummer to another, I feel your pain brother!!!
Same bros…😢
Don't miss Clockworks and Nostrum playthrough!
Clockworks is awesome
Nostrum is a pure killing drumming
I love, and agree, with both of the comments here. Next level drumming technique
Nostrum is badass 🤘
After seeing many reactions to this video, your are the ONLY one noticing/commenting on the ghost notes! Keep it up, you're really entertaining!
This is why I admire metal musicians. Most of them are really talented and showcase what you can with it to maximum potential.
Best reaction video ever to Bleed ever.
Don’t Worry, even Thomas had to practise a lot for bleed. It too Tomas 6 month to learn all the songs on this tecord.. except bleed.. for bleed it took another 6 month. :) you should react to Dominator Fjällström. :) he has some drumcam I think you would like
That's something new that I didn't know, glad to hear that, feel a bit better haha.. Btw I did 2 reactions of dominator, he's one of my favourite drummers
Yeah and then he did Clockworks.
Your story at the beginning sounds exactly like me learning to play guitar.
I could literally play the entire sweep picking section from this godless endeavor by nevermore before I could comfortably switch between the cowboy chords. I could play the cowboys from hell solo passably, but I couldn't play the riffs. I could play Canon rock, but I couldn't play canon.
I actually auditioned for a band and they were amazed by my sweep picking, legato runs and tapping(was not a prestigious band.) Then they tried to teach me an absurdly simple riff that was just a gallop on the E, then a single note on the A, repeatedly. I couldn't play it.
I'm not even joking. I spent a solid two years of playing 4+ hours a day entirely practicing lead wankery. My rhythm playing sucked, my vibrato was trash, my bends were offensive, my dynamics were random and even my palm muting needed work. But, I could play a non stop string of 16th note triplets at like 180 bpm.
Don't ignore the fundamentals, kids.
So damn true man
Ive met a couple guys like you. And dudes who can do crazy blasts beats and fills but cant sit in a simple groove. I dont get it.
@@jacksdad734 it's like trying to drive a dragster through a parking lot
The ultimate soft brag - nice
This is why I started off with so much Metallica riffs so I could get that gallop, fast palm muting and string switching down
Loved your reaction! Finally a metal drummer reacting to metal drummers! Best of luck with your channel and your career!
Meshuggah have always been like the steamroller of metal. It moves slow but if you get caught under it you’re done.
If you haven't yet, you HAVE to react to Mario Duplantier from gojira. He is insane on the drums.
Heaviest matter in the universe live is INSANE!!
@@psychogoreman198 I got to hear love live, what a wild song
Art of dying
You're the first person I've seen doing a drum review that mention the ghost notes on the snare. Cheers
This is a monumental task for any drummer to play this song...Tomas is a fucking Beast!!!
Love your channel Boris keep it up bro!!
Your reaction was priceless! And yes, that guy is depressingly amazing.
Hey man. Great reaction and commentary on one of my favourite songs of all time. Have a new subscriber dude.
I am not a drummer myself, nor do i play any instruments. I however enjoyed this review as i am a massive fan of this track. Very likeable energy from you, stick with it and you could have alot of people watching here at some point imo. I will check out your album later today🤟🏻
Thanks man!
"Are you fucking ready?"
"Absolutely not."
Probably the most honest, and common reaction to this song 😂
Awesome review! Had me cracking the fuk up this morning! I needed that. Thanx bro
I like how honest you are and not doing that fake bullshiting like some other reactors
Bleeeeed. Always enjoyable.
Dude you're awesome! Totally get the performance anxiety! They call it "Red Light Syndrome!" Great reaction man!
I laughed a lot. Your really funny man ! Please Keep commenting unbearably good Drummers .love it🙏😂 thx
Thanks man
The absolute blender of mixed feelings lol. I’m with you man.
you must see them live my friend. it's an unforgettable experience
Hey...I took a listen to Tryglav. I liked it! Liked that it pulls influences from across the metal genre while being very much Black Metal. Rock on!
To think they play this song at Every live show in a full set is insane. Amazing drummer
He's one of the greats! His endurance and rhythm is top tier. 🤘
That Terror Vision poster filled me with instant nostalgia. Keep rocking dude!
Me: Hey Thomas, what time is it ?
Thomas: When ?
"how." ahaha great reaction, dude!
I watched this reaction over and over again,Thanks
17 minutes of being envious, too real lmao
[Video starts...]
Me: is this dude a vampire?
[Introduces himself as Boris]
Me: whoa
😂😂
Hey I'm just a guy randomly passing through UA-cam, big Meshuggah fan, and ive never watched a drummers reaction video lol but i found watching your response to this amazing legend of a song very entertaining, i never before "felt" the anxiety you were referring to in the drummers sense when hearing this song, and I've heard it and played it 1000 times in my life (on guitar). But when i think about it, you're damn right lmao like the pressure is intense. Tomas Haake is a drumming God, there's no other possible opinion about it. And when you posed if it was perhaps the most difficult bass drum part, or complex, or whichever you said or meant, it certainly wields a strong case for it in my mind lol this is actually to me one of the most beautiful songs ever written tbh, these patterns are 100% unique, original, they go HARD, they ARE HARD, and the patterns are legitimately, like, measures of music i have never heard before. To put it in Meshuggah terms it's basically the best polyrhythms ever invented lol like honestly as far as hard, unique riffs, how ya gonna beat Bleed, ya know? If you can play Bleed correctly on any instrument, then you ought to be able to play ANYTHING on that instrument lmao it's a new standard of writing for real. But my bad about the ranting lol i just was expressing i am enjoying your video a lot, so thanks a lot ✌ btw i subbed
Thanks man, glad you liked it
i am glad we have people like you on this planet.
Dude i just stumbled on your channel and you've got a new sub. Gonna bingewatch it. Gonna check your band later on today. 🤘🤘
Thanks man🤘🏻
Haake is such a fantastic drummer. seen him play live a few times. love Carey and Hoglan too.
It's not much the double bass speed with the herta fill pattern that makes it near impossible... It's the fact that it is done continuously changing rythmic patterns between 3,5,7 in all the possible ways while keeping a perfectly straight 4/4 on top of it... This guy is one of the fucking best at what he does😍
Best band ever.
No, but Haake is the most talented drummer ever.
Everyday all day anywhere
the best band ever!!
Best reaction video yet.
Thank you so much! You’ve now got a new subscriber!
This kind of setup is all about efficiency. Big surround kits are very cool and look good live but are very inefficient if/when your all about maximum effect from minimum movement. But it's definitely something to get used to because it creates small channels to hit most of your instruments now. Accuracy is key. Polyrhythms for life.
Him: "I want to play Blast Beats!"
Me: I completely understand, Boris.
just checked yourt band and I have to say that Im keeping it on the repeat ! sounds pretty bad ass, really great band !!
And in tip of all that this guy just looks so calm and casual while playing
Definition of a drum god !!!
It's the socks! good reaction dude!
I know you made this video a few months ago and I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment. However, I just wanted to say that I have listened to your album (from reading the description too btw!) and I must say that you are fucking AMAZING! I loved every minute of it and saved the album to my playlist. I love your songs Evil Dead, Night of Whispering Souls and Creature of the Night the most! Keep it up! I hope to hear more new music!
Lol, fking love this guy's reactions....went like this: disbelieve - anger - admiration - wtf is happening? - this thing can't be human - anger again - resignation - acceptance - amusement - and fking anger one last time....like most of us....lmfao, great reaction, and fyi, I too don't think Thomas Haake is human, i believe it is some kind of machine sent from the future to end life, just waiting it's moment...
Cool react dude!
Glad you came up in my recommended
Good point about the pressure 👍 never thought of it that way, and when I did - it gave me anxiety😁
Same 😂
I enjoyed that jam
.. had lots of love in it
Meshuggah has been this crazy since the 90's.
absolute legendary commentary
Fredrik Thordendal (lead guitarist) wrote this track. I highly recommend his solo album, under the name Fredrik Thordendal’s Special Defects “Sol Niger Within” it’s an incredible, insane experience.
Late, but i second a listen to sol niger within, its a very fun listen.
I heard three seconds of your vand in this video and I'm already in love
I've seen a lot of reactions to this song & you are the first one to understand how truly fucking difficult this is.
Ghost notes is how Thomas keeps time… 🤪
Dude I just found your channel. Big likes.
Awesome dude
I love your reactions.
Meshuggah is the quantum mechanics of Metal🔥🤘
The herta pattern on the Kick is nuts!
Bro, I suck at drums, but have loved them since childhood. When I heard this song I emiediatly thought of Gene. Pure perfection, we all can't be nail part, but if he was a metal drummer, I think this is how he would play, along with Gene! Love the show bro, keep Chopin!!!!!!!🤘
Love it Boris!! Greetings from Canada !!! I leave you a tip bro but i am f n broke!! Love the channel Cheers !!!
No problem man, You're already supporting me by watching my videos🤘🏻
When you realise tomas is playing 4 seperate time signatures at the same time 🤯
“pOlYRyThyMS!”
@Corvidae is 8/8
That's all drumming dude. Hi hat, snare, bass pedal, and crash some times splash. Granted it's still hard to play but drummers always have multiple things going on at the same time which is exactly why I as a guitar player can't fathm doing it.
I’ve stopped telling people that I play drums. I now tell them that I’ve only started to learn to play them.
This would be almost impossible to play on a record, this is live and no fucking adding drums in the back. I fucking love this drummer.
He’s a beast, this song kill us all
Love your honesty!!! ”How!?” Well, imagine 110% of the rest of the Earths non-drummers that actually doesn’t understand the difficulty! I’m a new fan...of you! Greetings from the Meshuggah-country of Sweden! Oh and in the name of Black Metal...”In nomine Dei nostri etc etc
He hats 🤣🤣🤣 your awesome Boris T
Loved the reaction. I know you will love reacting to Ne Obliciscaris - And plague flowers the kaleidoscope. In your case do the drum cam... i love the live version but you will enjoy the drum cam more.
Haha...this was fun! :D
“It’s better that it’s finished … fuck you.” 😂😂😂 Dude that’s exactly how I feel when I hear him play, thank you for that honest reaction.
I appreciate your story. I've been working on the traditional blast for nearly a year, but playing for a whole song without stopping and changing to another beat, and trying to play a fill are all very counterintuitive for me.
Ha, really enjoyed this
I just about threw my sticks the first time i heard this.
I believe you are correct. This has to be possibly the most difficult song ever to nail in regards to double bass performance.
P.S. nice Celestial Bloodshed shirt.
It's the socks!!!! Tomas, plz share with the rest of us.
I LOVED your reaction!!!!!😊
I think you're my new favorite Boris!! Definitely subscribed!!
Definitely checking out your band too being a huge Black Metal fan!!!! 🔥💀🔥
Thanks man, great reaction. Yes, TH also inspired me to ... quit drumming. But I tried and tried his chops over and over again and I still can't play it. But.....it made me a better drummer. Always remember that unlike guitarists, drummers want to share their skills and knowledge to other drummers. It's called inspiration. Never forget that! Love, another drummer :-)
Grande Boris!!
You should definitely check out the Gojira live at hellfest recording of Where Dragons Dwell. Mario has like a 4-5 minute long non-stop double bass line in it and idk how his legs didn’t just fall off when they were done
Because Gojira is absolutely savage
Oh yeah
“Cant use or close one Hee-hat because, you know.. his legs do whatever they want” lmao
This is exactly how I felt when I first heard this. And I am a sub par drummer at best. Seeing someone with skill have the same reaction felt good. LMAO
This song makes me think about how the moon was created
You sound like me about three weeks ago. I came across a one-armed bassist perfectly playing Rancid's Maxwell Murder. I felt like just hanging up the bass for good after that.
Cool guy I will check out you’re band 🤙
9:42-9:56 you got me right there🤣
Practise makes the master.
please react to Archspire's Spencer Prewett Drum Playthrough.u'll be amazed.
Agreed! It's insane.
Yeah, he is on another level as well.
Thomas is the brain surgeon of drumming !
