Finally one episode I haven’t seen yet 😂
Love this show.
Me too
Same
same, i'm genuinely surprised!
same!!
And I was on the KNIK this past Feb with my son oddly enough.
What a miracle. One would have thought 'stay with the plane' but 2 weeks! Surviving the crash, the bears.. Then such an answer to prayer, the road, the truck! What a great God
Yeah, thanks a bunch, God. 😂
The production value of this show is just off the charts. The reancments are just so realistic and immersive with how they use diff clips
Apart from Dave sling moving from right to the left 🤷♂️
@@skippystirling9770I didn’t notice that lol
@@skippystirling9770I actually skipped through. His sling was on his right arm the entire time.
Ya it really is incredible, I doubt they film exactly where these incidences occured allover the world…but I wouldn’t mind an episode about producing it :)
I love the vocab you used to describe how incredible the reenactments are. The actors are almost always just as incredible. Idk where they find them but it's just never a disappointment watching one of these episodes. I'm completely addicted to them.
Love the Narrator's voice, so easy to listen too and takes you to the events
Damn these boys got beat up bad…and poor Dave, every slip, trip, slide, water tumble was hard to watch. Thank the good Lord these men made it. And them looking out for and helping each other is why they both made it out.
Nothing wrong with going on adventures but ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pack for an emergency, ALWAYS! I always take water, my phone, waterproofs, a fishing knife, string, and plenty of nibbles, and I don't actually go far alone. I learned the hard way in Arizona to ALWAYS take emergency supplies with you. If I was going far I would take a festival fire and block fuel too. .. I always have tea bags, powered milk and trail mix anyway... Nothing more scary than being alone broken down in the desert ... That was 1996/7 ... Since then I have always carried water everywhere...
When i was homeless in Toronto this was my favorite series that got me through.
Thank God for seeing u through. Amen
Thank God for seeing u through. Amen
hearing how guilty dave is about simply piloting a crashed plane, regardless whether or not it was truly his fault makes me so grateful both men lived. one can't imagine the survivor's guilt dave or gary would've felt if either of them died
The reenactments in this show is absolutely amazing.
EXCELLENT ACTING AND NARRATOR!!!! 10/10
And music
Lying bastards these guys were in my backyard in the hedges with a Teddy bear they made the whole thing up
Dave was very handy making stuff out of very little. He is the person to be with when things go wrong.
Amen! 🙏🙏
My respect to the actors reply the incident n go through to give us n idea of the reality
I watch a lot of these types of stories and this is by far the craziest, nail biter I think I've ever seen. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and there were so many plot twists.. like did he really dangle off a cliff and pull himself back up with 2 broken ribs? Not to mention the other guy trekking as far as they did with a head injury slowly drifting into delirium. Their determination to survive is admirable.
The guy trapped on a mountain with 2 sherpas who had to leave him behind is a crazy one too
@@Where_has_the_sanity_gonejust watched that one. Insanity. 😮 Deff a seat-gripper.
Dude survives and goes back 2 months later. Balls.

As a smoker, I’m never without fire. Everyone should always carry a fire source on them at all times, even urban settings. Fire saves lives
And smoking kills. Just stop smoking and carry a lighter.
You've convinced me to start smoking. Thank you!
It's common sense. Carry a lighter, a weapon & water AT LEAST.

Love the actual guys here.
Bear whistle: Dinner is ready 😂
I know of the harsh conditions they went through, after living in Palmer, Alaska for 11 years climbing mountains.
I have a friend in palmer.
The whole experience was harrowing but that bear encounter was extreme
I live really close to where this happened and they did. A really good job with re-enactment.
you'd think everyone by now no matter where they go, and do always carry a sat phone with ya!
The whistle is like a dinner bell 😅
Lol
Is that really true? Does the wistle attract the bear since it's alerting him as well
@@shelleypilcher3812yes, it can be mistaken for prey by predators. Also ones like bears are very curious, so they'll check out what the sound is.
It made me pray for them when Dave started praying. 🙏

Honestly? A great pilot knows how to "crash" a plane with the best possible chance at survival. While I understand the guilt that Dave must've felt, it was his skill, knowledge, and quick-thinking that saved both of their lives from the crash.
I honestly can't find a good reason for you to implie that Dave was guilty of doing anything wrong with the landing, and why he should have felt like you say. Honestly.
@@aarde7036 no, I was saying the opposite! I was saying that he DIDN'T do anything wrong, but based on some of the things he was saying, it seemed like he FELT guilty. He actually did a great job with handling the aircraft during an incredibly dangerous situation that he had no control over. I hope you get what I mean now.
You mean it wasn't God who said.. hold my beer? 😆
He nailed it, except calling in a mayday lmao. Some pilot. 😅😅 his emergency bag didn't even have a satcom device or a gun.
Embarrassing.
Backing each other up they both walked out of there alive. Pretty amazing considering they first survived a plane crash. Bad enough. Both wounded and walked through bear habitat to safety. Sending them healing energy. Blessings...
Lmao I got emotional even tho I know they made it because of the title. 💪🏾💪🏾 good stuff fellas
Sure overlooked rifles and knives and tents ...for experienced outdoors men

If the plane has not exploded , I'm staying by the plane until rescued 😂.
They didn’t find the plane until 2 weeks later. How are you going to survive that long with no water source?
I've had a rough life and been near death several times. Gunshots, high voltage electrocution, blown off side of mountain by artillery, car accident versus semi truck, car breakdown in middle of nowhere, stranded in wilderness, etc. Each time I've remembered talking to God saying that I can't die, cause my mom, dad, girlfriend/fiancee needed me. Each time I felt like I couldn't go on any longer I felt like I had been slapped through my entire body, felt warm all over, pain subsided and heard a voice telling me "DON'T QUIT!". I don't know if it was God, a deceased friend/family member or just my will to live.
Nothing quite as dramatic as your story, but I've been through 7 IeveIs of heII myself.
I died briefly on the OR table during major surgery to fix my back. I lost 4.5 l of bIood, went into shock and cardiac arrest on the table and was brought back.
I was in the ICU 3x with serious iIInesses or after that surgery that almost kiIIed me.
I've had 24 surgeries and spent months of my life laying in the hospital and I had plenty of time to think about what matters and what doesn't.

No firearm or other emergency tools or gear like a way to start a fire, make shelter, or signal for help?
That's extremely stupid anywhere in the world, much less the wilds of Alaska, which I lived in for 11 years.
No matter where I go, I always carry a firearm, knife, cigarette lighter, communication device, and in my Jeep I carry blankets, food, water, more radios, etc.

Why didn't God prevent them from crashing in the first place?
Why did god crash the plane to start with
Couldn't believe what Dave went through getting wet ,nearly slipping off cliff broken ribs etc etc
They both were Very Lucky
Those campfires, tents and people Gary saw when hallucinating were perhaps scenes from his childhood, 50 or so years before
God answered their prayers. 💯
Quite the saga. So glad you two made it out.
THANK YOU VERY EDUCATIONAL, AND WE ALL LEARN FROM IT. ACCIDENT CAN HAPPEN!!
Just remember a three hour tour.
A few ughs with this episode.
So, there is this emergency bag, that the narrator and Gary describe as "little in supplies" and "pretty limited". Really? A large tarp, TWO sleeping bags, towels, first-aid kit, food, rope, and we learn later some flares. Gawd, what is that they are wanting . . . a second airplane?
Before that, when Gary is checking the radio, and gets no indication it turns 'on' after using the switch, did he not think that perhaps it was just wiring from the battery that was pulled loose in the crash. Was it not worth a check? Later they said he was restoring an older plane, but clearly having nothing to do with the mechanics.
Did they have no matches in that emergency kit, surely so, but if not . . . the battery again? It could have been used to produce the heat/ignition for a fire. Was there not enough dead wood around that could have been dried out enough if necessary by using some material from inside the plane? Building a fire, and keeping it going, would have created smoke that could have been seen from a long distance during the day and the fire from overhead at night.
Then the bear part. The narrator mistankingly says they are 'up' wind, and therefore the bear doesn't detect them. Wrong. Had they been up wind, he'd have quickly smelled them, as the wind would have been going from them toward the bear. Obviously, they were downwind.
Then jumping in the river, really . . . out of fear of a bear that isn't on your heels? Not afraid of a little hypothermia? At least look for a spot and way to cross with limited soaking involved.
Well, without these mishaps and miscues, we wouldn't have as many stories to watch.
What I don't understand is how a native Alaskan, and a Texan that's been there 2 years don't have a firearm on them? Everyone I know from Alaska carries a firearm, flying or not. Hell even here I VT most will carry a firearm when going out into the woods. It's just confusing why there wasn't a proper survival bag inside the aircraft?
Do you think if they had fire, they should have kept it lit and juste stayed out rather than trying to hike out? Would the fire keep the bears away?
Great video.
Idk but the way they ate the peanut butter pissed me off😂 i mean 24hrs isnt that long to go without food to act like your starving ti death
Looked nasty
I would have stayed with the plane, endless amount of Fire Fuel !!! 🔥
Oh my word……very suspenseful!
Remember the movie, while being chased by a bear, a long, sturdy pole was sharpened. When the bear jumped on the star, the sharp pole was planted on the ground, and the bear was speared while falling,

YOU TWO ARE LIVING MIRACLES, SAVED BY GOD AND ONLY GOD THRU ALL THAT! WOW! I'm thanking Jesus, he saved you both!!! Most situations like this end with death. I'm SO happy! God definitely heard Gary's prayer turning that man-eating grizzly the other way! God heard and answered your prayers for survival! All glory to God!
A BIG AMEN TO THAT!!!
@@DeannaBoggs-ss2ec Amen!
They became walking sticks of beef jerky for the bears. That's what you get for flying over Alaska unarmed.
Out of every “I shouldn’t be alive” episode the number one rule and lesson to all is bring a satalite phone. Simple as that
And learn how to use it..
And a 44 magnum
SOO heartwarming how Gary was allowed to take that bear cub home and raise it as one of his own after he was forced to kill its mother with a machete in self defense!
I think keeping a jar of peanut butter in your survival bag is a good idea. Aside from the sugars and protein, it can possibly mask the taste of other crap you might have to eat. For example, Kill a rabbit, cook the meat and put a little peanut butter on it... probably still gross but I am sure it makes it a little more tolerable. 😆 Perhaps bring a thing of table salt and pepper as well. 😅😅
Why is this so awesome ❤
No wonder people call me crazy. I went on hikes likes this as a kid for fun. Completely oblivious to the dangers around me except the river. Definitely would've gotten killed if a bear ever came across me. I was one of those "invincible" kids.
Hold my sword. *hands over stick and pulls out slingshot* I got this.
ALWAYS ALWAYS CARRY EMERGENCY GEAR...FLARES , FOOD , FIRST AID , BLANKETS , FUEL , MATCHES... WATER ...ETC..
I couldn't get beyond feeling agitated that they were irresponsible enough to leave without the most important basic survival items they'd needed.
There's one reason to keep a small plane prepared for the worst on each and every trip, and one reason alone: Gravity. That's all the encouragement one should need.
But this situation is well beyond that. They're In Alaska, in an area they've recognized as the last frontier. Not only is it untouched wilderness, it's also got the country's greatest saturation of brown bears- an animal whose encounters humans rarely survive.
For the veteran pilot to claim that they left their cell phones behind because they weren't going to be gone long (and subsequently also didn't have any self defense firearms or weapon materials, nor bear spray) is like a seasoned bungee jumper who usually leaps sites like the Grand Canyon deciding that they don't need to double check their clips or use the double reenforcements that they usually employ because this leap is much shorter, this time they're only jumping the Empire State building.
It's shocking that the pilot in charge didn't bring up the fact that he learned a hard lesson and now only flies if he has all important basic survival needs. Instead they focused on the harrowing survival journey when it could have been cut shorter if a Few simple precautions were taken-especially with making sure that portable communication tools were on board, charged up and ready for use.
It's the massive brown bear in the room that neither are talking about and I find it very confusing.
What's really miraculous is how well they were able to traverse the wilderness with such massive gonads. Holy crap.
Я очень переживала за этих мужчин,на них мог напасть медведь или пума,могли погибнуть от голода и ран.Хорошо ,что все хорошо закончилось.Ура.👏👏👏
I noticed they didnt rest much
Bears and other animals need to protect their territory.
Brown bear is more similar to the black bear than the Grizzly . The Grizzly gets much larger. You have a chance fighting off a block or brown bear, but no chance with a Grizzly. Your best plan would be to run down a steep hill. They can run 35 mph up hill but much slower running down as their front legs are shorter than the rear. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t go into nor fly over bear country without a gun.
Actually brown bear and grizzly are names for the same species, but depending on location they are called one or the other. Location actually influences the size of the bear d/t food sources. Interesting about running down a hill though! Very cool.
