4:07 This is why you have the percentage field as well, so you can leave the resolution at the final setting and simply choose a smaller percentage for preliminary renders.
Thank you for this, question how do you get the rendered side to show in color? when i change it to rendered view it shows everything in the object view
i thought before...fill is for filling the overshadowed part and then rim placed always at the back of the model. and in this tutorial. you put fill light at behind of the model and before that i thought its a rim light. but i was wrong. it seems like rim to me and then im confused why you add another rim at the opposite side from fill. can you explain why?
Great tutorial! I would appreciate if you could tell me how you managed to have one window in render mode and the other in material preview. Whenever I change one, the other gets affected too:(
Do you mean I have 2 viewports? If so, you can customized viewports the way you want. Just hover the mouse to the corners when you see the mouse changed to a "cross"...hold down the mouse and drag out to add new view. One thing you didn't do in this video is explain what the various lights are used for in three point lighting. I took a Audio and Video course, which explained it a bit, though I think I forgot most of the reasoning behind why three point light seems to be pretty standard. The only thing I do recall is that the fill light, if I recall correctly, is used to keep the subject's back lite up so you don't get a dark area around them on their back (or something like that). That's especially important for green screening, because darker spots tend not to key out well. The ring light keeps shadows from forming on the side of the body where you don't want them, and I think it's use to create a bit of a shadow on the other side. I might be wrong, but that's what kinda recall.
wow, really good; succinct but full of useful info on how to light, pleasant voice, background music not too loud. You should do more tutorials (if you were wondering).
Thank you. I just switched to a new team and had been super busy at work. finally find some time now. Working on the tutorials and should be ready in the coming week or two. Fingers crossed.
Hello I don't know if you'll see this, but after I placed the lights, the bottom portion of my backdrop is a grey colour versus the back which is the blue i chose..
My friends shaders affect light in Blender. I tried several shaders and between the default shaders like Difuse bsdf and principal bsdf it doesn't receive any light. And do you know how to set it up to receive light?
It's a shame at 1:44 you say to activate render display without actually telling us how to do that. The entire rest of the tutorial doesn't work if you don't know how to do that. Very frustrating.

Incredible! With this video I learned in 8 minutes what I have spent hours trying to figure out. Thank you!!
Glad it helped!
7:40 You can press keys e.g. NUM3 and NUM4 to switch quickly between different render result slots.

A superb tutorial that want to know how to get pro renders
Informative tutorial. In the newer versions of Blender, I am not able to move lights and image ref with the gizmo. I had to press G and then move it.
Awesome tutorial
