I've actually been looking for a while on making soft looking characters. Everywhere I look has well defined characters and objects, so this actually helped out
Listen, I’m a complete beginner to blender, I know nothing about it, but this tutorial is AMAZING. I managed to make it, I still didn’t finish the design, but everything else- the mesh, physics , animation. Complete and cute, thank you for being detailed, and thanks for the tutorial!
Love you for telling me exactly HOW to use blender and follow the tutorial down to the keystrokes you’re using. Massively helpful for a new overwhelming workspace and starts training your fingers for shortcuts faster
@@clonkex fever frames are special nightmare filter totally correct, everything gets distorted in a really weird way by the fever modifier. Everythings starts shaking. The special thing about the fever modifier is, that it is not apllied inside of blender, but uses a special quantum entanglement feature in the CPU (in some few cases GPU) to conduct fever in the participant later viewing the animation. It is highy recommend not to operate heavy machinery after being exposed to the fever modifier. Only us it when really needed with safty nets applied. You can bake the fever modifier into the keyframes to minimize the sleepiness after watching the animation. Sorry, I love internet.
Very cute video, exciting to try to learn how to create this look. Thanks for creating the tutorial. Once it got to grease pencil, though, it didn't include enough detail for me to follow it. There's some amazing stuff in this tutorial, but in the future, I'd highly suggest going slower and explaining each step more thoroughly. If this had been an hour-long video with precise descriptions and explanations, it would be absolute gold.
If anyone is having any problems at 4:43 with the cat exploding after putting the subdivision below the cloth, I just increased my quality steps under the cloth physics from 8 to 10 and that worked for me
This is a good tutorial for it is not lazy, other had said something like, "apply a mirror modifier", I often work like so, but to not use it and just eyeball positions until you think it look good often give a more dynamic and natural result.
man maybe I'm just bad at animating but when you just handkeyed the tail position I was like "there's no chance that's gonna turn out looking good" but damn it worked so well, I guess that's what separates people who know what they're doing from me haha
They’ve changed the adjustable parameters under the Render > Shadows dropdown. It no longer suggests cube size or cascade size. It now displays rays, steps, volume shadows, and resolution. Any chance you could look into this and provide your idea of what is necessary to reproduce your steps with these new settings? :) thank you! Edit: using blender 4.2
Hey, iam stuck at 5:10. Maybe someone can help me. The animationen doesnt stop to bug. I start the keyframe from 0 and i also taped in to edit mode and back into object mode. It still colapses at the end. PLS send help
I wanna create a game in the future when I’m an adult and I want it to look a bit 2d while being 3d,but knowing my lazy ass,I probably won’t even have the motivation to download blender so I can learn how to animate.Though I’m gonna watch this regardless.
I think i did something wrong, but i used blender 4.2 and i couldn't really get teh hook to be working. I will try to edit this when/or if I solve it. Will come back tommorow :D Awesome tutorial btw Edit: Wierd "solotion, i had to save and restart blender for it to work"
10:19 Maybe someone knows what the problem is? I did it on version 4.2. when I created the base color the blender stopped responding, I tried it many times, I don’t know what the problem is
4:06 why can't mine move like that? Mine moved fine until 2 frames, at the 3rd frame, it got big and covered my screen. completely covers the screen. 😩
uhh.. i'm a dumbass, i know. but at 6:13 , when i add the replace key to the animation, the cat blob fell down like expected, but when it touched the plane, the blob just went frozen. (i kind of panicked so i did some messing around..lol) also i'm using blender 3.5 if that's any help ((also i'm kind of new to blender))
When I was making the tail animation, I found that it was different from the one in your video. I think this is a problem with my animal plug-in. I am studying how to solve it...
Some of this was definitely helpful. But please slow down the footage in future videos. It was a pain to follow along while constantly rewinding to watch what you did. Also, please consider using a different overlay to record keyboard and mouse input, it's quite tough to see with the one you are using. Lastly, to other users who were following along in blender 4.3. Please know that some of the settings used are not present in the current version of blender. Like the shadow and render settings only having blend and dithered now.
guys why isn't my mesh following the hook around ive tried multiple time and i can't put in key stamps either i select location and no key stamp appears
Hi, thank you for sharing. when i move empty only vertex/faces from pin group are following empty. rest of cat mesh stays in the origin location... any idea why is that?
What can i do so the cat lands in the same spot as in the beginning? I would love to make it loop, or at least so that it is not sliding away after unpinning.
Instead of moving it with physics, you'll have to animate its movement, then you can animate its end destination too. Then you'll just be relying on the physics for the jiggle, though that means it probably won't line up perfectly (from the chaos of the jiggle), but you can hide that behind a lower frame rate or do some video editing magic to make the perfect loop.
I met a trouble at 14:20, when i set P to isolate the feature. This look like some error at lineart ( a whole black at render screen ) and when i start to Shift Space that crash me out the project
Can you help I am not able to animate the tail moving every time I INSERT the key frame they just dont move and the final position of the animation becomes the first one as well. I did it from the start again but got the same problem again with the key frames this time with chop sticks movement as well, what i Am doing wrong? Please tell me

I mean you can still tell its 3D. I would suggest fever frames and timing of those frames to mimic a cartoony look
Is that like a few very abstract, nightmarish frames? You know, like the weird dreams you get when you're sick 🙂
@@clonkex he probably means the consistent framerate witch makes this looks too ‘3D’
@@perori_neko I know what he means. I'm joking about the typo "fever" instead of "fewer".
