Man I hated my 05 tundra crew cab with the JBL in it, I had to put a metra overlay harness in it to put a after market radio and speakers in it. As both the head unit and amp took a $hit on me. Had to rip out the entire interior for it as the amp and all the door speaks are wired to the drive rear wall and I wanted the overlay harness to run down under the center console and up under the rear deck for the rear seats. Great work by the way, love seeing y'alls take on wiring.
If you want a short cut just buy the interface for 120 on eBay and it will allow u to use everything factory or aftermarket besides tv flip down monitors
I have an ‘03 Sequoia with the JBL system. There are two plugs that plugged into the factory JBL unit. I have a harness that connects with the larger plug with all the speaker/ power wires. The smaller factory plug has three wires connected to it. There is one brown with a white strip and two gray wires with red stripes. Any idea what these three wires are for? I have searched and searched and can’t seem to find the answer. I did find a couple of threads that makes me think they have to do with dimmer and illumination and that I may not even need them for anything with my new radio. Any help would be great!
jbl system was a nightmare to work with in my Toyota but i got it to all work nicely ive had thoughts of just installing a stand alone head unit in the dash pocket and leaving the jbl head unit alone.
Could someone please explain what happens to the input and output harnesses once you removed the amplifier? Do you ignore them altogether and just run new wiring from the head unit to the speakers?
Seems like your the only shop with the heart to do this install. All the shops around me are scared to do this I guess. How much would it be for this full install?
question. so if i remove the factory amp and i dont have that sub you use. do i need to install a new amp or is the custom harness using the factory amp power?
Hi I’m sure you get a ton of questions about the jbl system on Toyota’s but I have the infamous tundra jbl amp that’s impossible to find a pin out diagram and wondered if you know how I can find one for it I have a 22pin plug and a 24 pin plug to the amp and I want to use the power and remote leads for a small all in one under the seat amp sub setup and then I already got a new amp to power my doors hooked up to the speaker leads using a adapter for the amp so if you can help me at all that would be so awesome cuz not even the shops around me know what to do so I’m outta options
Hey guys I sent an email about stickers have you guys seen the email or checked it recently can't wait to get some stickers.....love the vids keep them coming
hey Dean and Fernando, I have a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with the factory system(not Rockford) but I already added an under seat sub. looking for some aftermarket door speakers to run off the factory head unit and any plug and play adapter if required. can you share your expertise. i believe the 4 door speakers are 6.5 inch.
Hopefully you can help. I pulled a Kenwood 9990 w amp sw control out of an 04 sequoia and installed a AVIC-W8400NEX with a rp4.2-ty11. I also used an antenna splitter for both antennas. I get FM perfectly ok but absolutely nothing out of the AM side. I tried the radio in another car and it work, so it is not the radio. It appears the antennas are powering up. Any thoughts? could the pioneer not have good reception sensitivity with this vehicle? Thx
@@FiveStarCarStereoInc how do you determine if a system is factory ampified? An amp hidden in the center console and behind the ac controls is not something a DIYer would know to look for. Keeps putting out the great content, Quarantine binge with Five Star Car Stereo!!!!
Just picked up a 2004 sequoia limited thanks for the install information the wire colors from the amps were helpful.
