That's insane you've manually dug _that_ much under your house! Gives me inspiration, as I'm planning an 8 foot wood fence around my backyard, with will require 2.5 feet of digging per post - child's play compared to what you're doing on your hands and knees! +58 pound pull-ups are also inspiring. Way to go, amigo!
"Bowl uh miso, please." Spot on impression! My wife says I do a good "Gollum." :P
I've listened to Sapolsky a few times. Seems like such a smart guy, but wow, shocking he has such an under-thought narrative. Guaranteed every level of (what is now) crime, would skyrocket if we lived without laws. Ex. If shoplifting was decriminalized, I'd save a ton at the grocery store!

The way that I approach the digging, is to focus on the step I'm in, and not to see the whole project. That way it's never hard, and it never feels like it can't be done.

The drone footage is "next level!" It gives such a wondrous perspective! And I've gone with the Buddhist monk, Ajahn Brams views on the present moment: not to have my mind stuck in the past or reaching for the future. But it hadn't occurred to me that while I was being "present" someone else could be beside me with their own version of "present."

Glad you like the drone footage... it's better than watching my face :D

Excited to hear you are headed in the direction of Finland. Something I dream of, maybe when I retire! I'm guessing you are planning to do the Freestyle events. Impressive performance up Greylock! After just a couple weeks of classic. Love all your videos!

Yeah, Finland is where I"m pointed... we'll see if it happens. Yes, I'll just be doing the 3 freestyle events.
Greylock was a fun experiment - I only used classic roller skis 3 days prior to the race (never used them before that). So my elliptical and bigfoot light (treadmill) translated well to a classic stride.

Since I was 17 or so, I've been quite convinced that we do not really have a free will, in the sence that we can choose in a free and independent way, since we do not choose the thoughts, experiences, genes or random influences that lead up to a decision. I think this view makes it easier for me to forgive and understand myself and others. But I cannot see how it leads to the conclusion of Sapolsky's, regarding crime and punishment. Clearly, the consequences affect the behavior of people with or without a free will! Also, I find your reasoning regarding the whole of a person going beyond the conscious parts an intriguing angle on this. It does remind me of Einstein stating that god does not play dice, and the idea of hidden variables... My experience nevertheless certainly suggest that I have a free will, or at least a will, so not sure if any of this matters!

I rollerskied for the first time in a few months yesterday and was slipping on some of my left arm pole plants. I brought my arm in closer and that worked but then my elbow was sore that evening strength training. Do you think the pole plant rollerskiing has any correlation to proper on snow performance?

Interesting insight on Adler's book. It made me wonder, given the time he was alive and the area of Europe he was from, whether he was a believer in social darwinism. Remnants of a very dark time in history.

I very much enjoyed watching the TCS New York Marathon last Sunday. Have you ever ran the New York Marathon?

I've never run a road marathon. Just trail marathons. How about you?

Back in the day [late 1980's] I was mainly a 10K specialist [sub 40 min 10Ks]. Interestingly enough, it was Alberto Salazar winning the New York Marathon way back in 1980 in 2:09 that started my interest in cross country running while I was at secondary school [I'm not from the U.S.A.]. As yet, I have never ran any marathon, but I had always had the New York Marathon on the bucket lists of thing I need to do before I leave this earth; and it is still on that list I just don't know when. My question to you is, would running the New York Marathon be something you would consider doing for your channel? I would be quite intrigued to see what time you would run. BTW I am quite impressed with your 5K times.@@runningraw

The NYC Marathon looks like an exciting one. So many people out cheering on the course.
My ankle won't let me run consistently anymore. So any chance of a road marathon is now gone.

Oh what a shame! Three years ago I had a case of severe sciatica, and problems with my left knee which then transferred to my right knee, I could barely walk properly, far less run. I was convinced that was the end for me and running, so I became a diligent walker, walking as far as 10 miles on some occasions. To cut a long story short, on 10th October 2023 I decided to try and run again for the first time in 3 years, running a whole 1 km without stopping to walk. I gradually increase my distances and on 10 November 2023 I ran 4 km in about 23 mins. Next Friday which will be the 17th, I am going to attempt 5 km. I have devised a training plan whereby I should be able to run 10 km by March 2024. As long as there is life there is hope. Don't assume you will never be able to run on the road again. I would like to invite you to watch a fellow youtuber called Dr. Eric Berg, search for a video he made about how eating beef can heal the body from various injuries. All the best!@@runningraw

Well done on the walking! 10 miles is a very impressive walk!
I'll be running a bit in the future, but marathon training would not be smart for me. I'd rather just get in 1 mile, or 5k shape at some point again.
