Thanks for taking the time to make these informative videos. I grew up as a kid hunting in hunting clubs where i only hunted green patches out of a shooting house. In my twenties I started hunting public land and I got decent at killing deer there (but rarely would I kill very mature bucks). I've watched most all of your deer hunting videos in the last two days and I have really learned a lot. I am able to look at my own personal experiences of my encounters with deer and deer sign and really understand why I saw what I did based on your videos. I've always had my best luck by creeks or swamps, hunting on edges, and I have jumped several deer off of beds that were positioned exactly how you mention in your videos (small piece of high ground in the edge of a swamp, on a hill in the bend of a creek with the wind at their back, etc.) Looking forward to do some more scouting on the land I'm hunting now. Where did you move to?
I’ve made the mistake several times this year of setting up on not so hot sign because I scouted my way in and began to run out of time so I felt forced to just set up and hunt.
I’ll definitely take your advice next time and just keep scouting and if I don’t find sign I’m confident in then I’ll just scout till dark.
Since you mentioned it I’ve seen the THP guys and the hunting beast guys do that very thing (no hot sign they don’t set up most times)
It's hard, right? You want to hunt so bad that you end up settling for a not so great spot...
I did this ALL THE TIME years ago and got frustrated.
THP and Hunting Beast channels are excellent resources to learn from.
