- Kayak Cart Dolly I put together this kayak cart/kayak dolly for under
$100. This was a very simple build and I believe it will get the job done!

Definitely on the trail of something good. Good luck with your adjustments and fine tuning
Good job!. There are prefab alternatives, but expensive. Looks forward to your final solution.
I ideas to tweek it.
This is smart! I run a bow mount so if I make something like this I’ll definitely need to make my carry handle mounted to the bow tubes on it!
Let me know how it turns out if you decide to build one
Its a lot better than most of the carts they sell. Think im going too go ahead and build one something like that for my kayak
I'll have an update on dolly video out shortly. With some things I've worked out
It’s a great idea just too bulky for me, good luck on the fine tuning and I’am sure it’s great for loading onto trailer too.
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it. It does break down and really light. The casters are what they are can't do much about them, it would be cool to figure out a folding system.
Rather than the strapping where the tonuge connects to the shaft I would glue on a T fitting and 2 small pieces of pipe with end caps you could then drill through it and bolt it on. I thin that would be a lot more sturdy. Or, LOL you could use duct tape :-)
I also made a cart completely out of PVC where I ran the wheel shaft through the PVC. I cut out expanded PVC board circles that I glued into the center of the pipe and that's what supported the shaft and wheels it worked great. Basically used the same technique I used in my pontoons. ua-cam.com/video/s2XkPoAxoI8/v-deo.html
I don't think the strap will break. There really isn't any stress on the shaft it's main purpose is for launching and retrieving the Dolly. How ever steering down the ramp did put some stress after yak strap was released.
I’m looking for something similar for my Titan. The commercial ones are just too expensive. But I’d also like to pair it with my trailer so they can be used together.
This breaks down pretty easy. If you come up with a plan please share with me.
@@tmkayakfishing8236 I’ve been looking at square aluminum tubing, connectors, and wheels. I think this is doable for a lot less than the $600 the commercial ones sell for.
If you put larger PVC pipe in your truck but just short of your easy launcher then your easy launcher can stay attached to your Hobie. My cart remains on whenever I am out of the water.
Oh, I have a LB/PU and no extension.
I have been wanting to build this same idea for a while. I currently place my cart in the water like it was a trailer and pull the boat up on to the bunks. I’ve always wanted to add a long handle so I could launch like a trailer on a boat but by hand.
It's a work in progress. I hope to put video out on completed cart soon.
At 6:55 into the video you remove an attachment from the transom/keel. What is that item? Nice job on the launcher BTW!
I redesigned in updated video. ua-cam.com/video/TwnUfd8VqUI/v-deo.htmlsi=jhLRXnR8tfZK89ol
Part of the launcher. I had it so I could break down when transporting . I've since changed the design a bit
