How dare you call these men bottom feeders. Bottom feeders serve a vital function in their ecosystems.
Closer to zombies, feeding off of the people who don't have the capacity to survive.

They’re nature’s cleaning crew!
Wow this movie surprisingly is better than the last jedi the writing is bad yet not as shit as the last jedi,

The one positive I can give Disaster Movie is that it did produce one of the best reviews of anything ever from LA Weekly: "This carpet-fouling mongrel of a movie no more deserves release than do anthrax spores."
Wtf lmao
Holy shit that's an amazing quote. Sounds like something Yahtzee would say.
another positive: seeing kim kardashian get crushed by a boulder to death.
@Randy Burton People of all ages can enjoy the misery of Kim Kardashian
Randy Burton that is mystery
Fun fact Seltzer and Friedberg never actually worked on Scary Movie at all. They sold a movie parody pitch to Dimension called Scary Movie and when the Wayan's changed the title of their horror spoof to Scary Movie Selzter and Friedberg threw a temper tantrum and claimed the Wayans were stealing their movie, and after months of WGA arbitration they got writing credits despite not working on the movie in any capacity.
I didn't know it was possible, but you made their reputation even worse in my eyes than it already was.
This is honestly so funny
So they are leeches?
Also the Wayans are why the first two "Scary Movie" movies are actually funny to watch.
@@daniboy4153 the wayans weren't involved with 3&4 but I consider 3 to be my favourite one , 4 is ok

Imagine if after every joke in this movie, a cat just came up to hump whatever's related to the joke.
The worst part of Disaster Movie isn't even the over-reliance on references, it's that they won't even trust you to recognize them. There always must be a character pointing out and saying "Look! It's the panda from Kung Fu Panda!" out loud because we're all stupid.
Then again, these references are so dated it can sometimes be a feature.
I don't recognize several references from Date Movie because all those celebrities, films and TV shows are from 2006. One of the "jokes" is... whoever Britney Spears was dating in 2006. Who the hell cares!
LOOK GUYS ITS PETER GRIFFIN FROM THE FAMILY GUY TV SERIES
These movies dated are beyond belief
That and how these references were all written off of little to no information about its sources and only through trailers, as they hadn't released yet, in my opinion
Which IHE mentioned in the video, but goes to show how lazy these jokes are written
When I was 9 I put Date Movie on for my grandad to watch. He wasn’t impressed and had serious words with my mother.
This is funnier to me than these actual movies

I say all kids were made for this, especially babies. Hell even Beast Boy from Teen Titans would say this is stupid.
Comparing "Who killed captain Alex" to those movies is a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
Who Killed Captain Alex is pretty much the opposite of these movies. People with very little money working really hard with what few resources they have to make something completely new that’s enjoyable and delightful to watch and looks like it was a lot of fun to make, as opposed to people with too much money lazily slapping together something derivative and boring where everyone involved is getting a paycheck at least but they’re not happy about it because there’s nothing to be happy about in this production.
@@lmaolmao5587 other then those movies "who killed captain Alex" is made with passion and thus has a soul :D
Absolutely agreed. Captain Alex at least had real passion put into it. I'd take a low budget movie passionate movie over a big budget lazy cashgrab any day of the year.

The best fart joke I’ve ever seen in a movie is the one from Finding Nemo when the undersea mines are exploding and it cuts away from the chaos to show the waters surface...two pelicans right next to each other and due to the mines a bubble pops next to the one of the birds, the other one then says “nice.” and flies away. Classic.
Now that I think about it, it’s actually a really underrated joke 😂
I think lighthouse has the greatest fart jokes in cinema
The campfire scene in Blazing Saddles is also a classic
Paul Bloggs the movie with Robert Pattinson and willem dufoe??
The fart joke that came to mind for me was “who does number 2 work for” in Austin powers. The only one I could think of that genuinely stuck with me over the years.

Real talk, the movie isn't very good, but it's so infectious. It's hard not to be like DEADLY COMMANDOS for a week after watching it.
It's so much fun, and its not because it's bad. It's because it's entertaining.
It’s on the same level as Kung Fury
@@jays.6843 I feel like Captain Alex did exactly what it intended to do, bring joy to people who watch it. It's not 'meant' to be a polished production or even trying to ape something decent, like the incompetence on display in films like Plan 9 or Reptilicus. A group of people who love movies made a movie on a budget of under 200 dollars simply for the love of it. It's like the movie at the end of Be Kind Rewind, but in real life.
Yes, it's a wonder why it hasn't gotten any achievements
The best thing about Disaster Movie is that about 11 years after it was released, a talking British head decided to take a look at it and other movies like it as a public service, putting himself and his mental health at risk of permanent deterioration to inform his viewers not to watch them and suffer the consequences.
But I wished he did all of their movies… but I say just to these 3. Every movie they made is regarded, childish and too much for him to take.
Fun fact: the “from 2 of the 6 writers of scary movie” isnt really accurate. Friedberg and Seltzer made a scream parody that had its script bought purely to stop it ruining the market before scary movie came out. In return friedberg and seltzer got their names on scary movie
I got Disaster Movie because it was cheap a long time ago. I stopped watching at about thr Alvin and The Chipmunks scene.

"Most of the movies being referenced in Disaster Movie weren't released when the script for it was being written." In other words, Friedberg and Seltzer never actually SAW any of the movies they were referencing, they saw the trailers for the movies they were referencing and wrote their jokes based on what they saw
I guess that's also why they make jokes about these movies that probably sounded very clever in their heads but ended up being done waaaay better in the movie itself.

The general point of movies like this is... something to watch... while not watching. Like, the kind of movies that are funny when you're drunk or high or you're hanging out with friends and you just want some stupid noise in the background.
And part of the appeal ~is~ the cultural references, that is seeing characters out of place, out of their element or in a different "universe" so to speak. That and the gross out humor, the crassness, the stereotypes... they're meant to convey a kind of cultural backlash. It's like everything you're ~not~ supposed to do or you're ~not~ supposed to find funny and they purposefully force those social taboos out into the open and then just mercilessly take them to task... it's cathartic in a way. It's like, "Oh, you find this offensive? Well here let me shove it right into your fat head, ya jackass!"
What's funny isn't necessary the content so much as the REACTION that the content elicits from people. It's funny not because ~it~ is funny, but because of the way ~you~ react to it in disgust, shock. You... YOU stupid, you're what's funny! :D
Seriously these movies need a new category called "Disgusting." NO JOKE. That Date Movie is just so gross, not one laugh, just stomach turning.

The scene was padded even further by the cat getting out a long pack of rubbers packages connected together and slow motion shots switching back and forth between the orgasming cat puppet and the shocked cast looking on. Yeah...this film (which was the least worst of the lot) was so low on content they had to "dramatically" slo-mo a cat humping a corpse to get PADDING!

@@Reckno64 I don't hate the cat on concept. I mean, kitties misbehaving are a often used theme in comedy (see Tom & Jerry for example), but it was done piss poorly in this film. They went overboard on the crudeness, stupidity, and padding. I think it could've worked, but the writers and directors were just too incompetent and/or lazy to care. Worst part is was that it was a decent animatronic. One that was wasted in a horrid film. I hate saying this, but I also saw "Epic Movie" multiple times (long story short w/o going into details I was in a somewhat isolated part of the world on a job at the time and that was one of the few DVD's the small store had. I feel the overuse of pop culture jokes is what annoys me about most Dreamworks films and I can't help but think it's going to date them horribly in a few years. Same with the obsession of using the current most popular celebs for voice-acting as opposed to actual voice actors and giving them a good thing on their CV and nice pay cheque. Maybe the latter is just my personal annoyance though.

For example, in Airplane, when the woman next to the main guy sees he's sweating, because he's presumably scared of flying, she says "Are you nervous?", he says "Yeah", she says "First time?" and he says "No, I've been nervous lots of times." and that's IT. It's funny because nobody acknowledges how absurd what he just said was, and the scene carries on as if it were normal. There's no better way to kill a joke than to hammer it. The form that joke would have taken had these guys written it would have involved Shrek walking by in the background, her repeating what he said three times and a fart.
Not to mention, when the jokes aren't lingered on, if the joke doesn't land for you, you're not sitting there suffering through it. I feel like that's why some people didn't enjoy newer JonTrons as much. He amassed a bigger budget and started telling bigger jokes, as opposed to his former "quote per second" style.
a lot of modern comedies suck at that, to be honest.

@@lqu I thumbs up not because I found it funny in itself but just because you got the right idea with how they'd do that gag. Maybe he throws up on a fat chick too or something?
You could've said, these people take the joke too far.
When I watched Epic Movie at a friend’s house, I remember seeing the Nacho Libre scene where he just eats a bunch of Doritos and thinking to myself, “I will not laugh at a single thing in this movie.” I was right.
I still enjoy the awkwardness of that High School Musical spoof where the lead's ex starts singing about fooling around after the breakup... "I did a Black guy, I thought was Kanye..." as Kim Kardashian is supplying the backup singing...
I wonder if that was where she got the idea to marry him...
“ The twisted minds of two of the six writers of “Scary Movie” ”
They should have gotten the other four instead.
Shouldn't you be back in heaven.
Alberto Productions If you actually look at the end credits of scary movie, all the riders are separated by commas and “&”
But Friedberg and seltzer are separated from all of them, which leads me to believe that they did have a part in the writing process, but either none of their parts made the final cut, or whatever they suggested was highly edited
From what I read, Friedberg and Seltzer’s writing was not used in the final cut. So they became big filmmakers for no reason.

@Wild Sharday
Yes, I am in Heaven. A lot has changed here since An All Dogs Christmas Carol.
I saw disaster movie at a friend’s house when i was in high school. Keep in mind, back then i loved family guy for its edginess and references, i went through a phase of liking gross-out comedies like american pie, and i even remember hearing about how date movie and epic movie were a bunch of references and edgy gross-out jokes and that actually made me WANT to see them. I assumed i would like disaster movie. I can vividly remember sitting there, trying to laugh when i thought i was supposed to, and sensing everyone else in the room felt equally uncomfortable and disappointed. No one really commented on the movie and everyone forgot about it, including me. I think that says it all.
Sigh. 🥺
@Review_Man Yep. I had extremely low standards for comedy back then, but even this movie was just too low for me.
same here. it's odd because i actually like family guy and american pie (scary movie, too!), and yet i remember watching epic movie and the one part that got a laugh out of me was darrell hammond as the captain jack parody, because darrell makes me laugh. then i watched disaster movie and i honestly couldn't get through it (so alex is a brave soul for watching these).
i've also watched vampires suck, their twilight parody, and i got a slight chuckle out of that, but that's about it. what gets me is you can do dark, edgy, and risque humor and do it without references, but these guys obviously never got the memo.
@@nirvhannahgarden I still look back at earlier Family Guy (especially the first 3 seasons) and have fond memories. For all its faults, the writers at least came up with distinguishable characters and plots for each episode before they buried them underneath references and cutaways. Friedberg-Seltzer were too busy making desperate, edgy references and gags to even come up with a story or characters. Hopefully as '90s nostalgia exploitation is replaced by '00s nostalgia exploitation in the next 10 years, not a single soul will look back at Friedberg-Seltzer movies and say "those were the good times".
@Gideon 00 I didn't word that well. I never actually saw Date Movie or Epic Movie. I mentioned them because I do remember seeing commercials for them and thinking they looked funny (when I was 13 years old and thought people swearing was funny). Just to drive home the point that even as a teenager with no taste in 2008 I didn't think Disaster Movie was funny.
Po should go back to being a 3D model, he looks too creepy as a live action thing.
No kidding. Nightmare fuel at its best.
Every time I come back to this video, that insert of the man smiling leading to a cut off explosion is funnier than the sorcerer's stones joke before it
"I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of tax write-off."
Damn, dude, I think that's probably the worst burn about a movie I've ever heard. Cold.
Uwe Boll does the same with his movies.

I was traumatized by that Alvin and the chipmunks scene. I was 4 at the tine I watched that. No joke it took me 3 years to get over my fear.
Same bruh
@Garrett Reddoch I still find that scene disturbing to this day.
I was about 8 when i saw it and it made me litterally watch me back for like 2 weeks. Cause of the part where the eat the girls back
&Slobber Knocker at first I laughed at the scene cause I didn’t realize what was happening. But then one of them said mmmm tasty. That’s when I shat my pants lol.
Same here
The Chipmunks part of disaster movie legitimately traumatized me as a kid. I saw my parents watching it in their room and then that scene came on I straight ran into the living room shaking and shoving my head into a pillow. This video resurfaced my repressed memories, it was very enjoyable
These films reminded me of how toxic the 2000’s could truly be, despite how much we romanticize them now. They serve as a painful reminder of how much we exploited marginalized groups for cheap laughs. I’m not saying there aren’t people who still do this today, but is was much more normalized in the 2000’s. At least today there are people who call it out.
What's more annoying is the pedestal it's put on because it "had jokes that never would be made today everyone so soft!!" as if it's not the easiest and overdone comedy on earth that's also as fleeting as toilet humour, that's also STILL being done in trashy Netflix adult shows. I'll admit it was funny when it first came out, but now after everythings been said and done we'd only be repeating the same jokes to appeal to edgy teenagers
Yeah, it was sort of "shock humor" thing before we realized that racism never really died and has in fact, surged. Like, a lot of the people i hung out with that used to engage in that sort of humor... MOST of them are now like "Whoa... yeah no, that wasn't cool what we did back then." And this was all back when 4chan used to be the forefront of internet culture before the nazis took it over.
You do realise the movie is made by two Jews right?
I saw Epic Movie alone when I was like 13 and it was the first movie that I left the theater and realized, "Wait a minute.... that WASTED my precious 13-year-old time!"
It was the birth of standards. My standards aren't even that high, but for entertainment to disappoint me at the age I was when that came out is impressive

You are not
The reasons why "Airplane," "Team America" "Top Secret" the "Naked Guns" etc. work is because of three things:
1. The comedy is genuine and organic. The comedy in those films are not forced.
2. The filmmakers' commitment to their story.
3. The casting. A lot of those earlier films work because most of the actors were not known for comedy. The more serious their deliveries of their absurd lines, the funnier it got.
4. It's not just endless references to other pop culture.
@@definitelynottommywiseau3037 You're right. I sort of agree with you. Those earlier movies I mention make a ton of references, but they do "something" with those refences. They'll both propel the story forward by doing something opposite to the thing they are referencing. A perfect example is in "Airplane." In "Airplane," they parody the main dance number 'Staying Alive' from "Saturday Night Fever." But that's how Ted and Elaine first met, and it's added with absurd dance moves and circumstances. The problem with the "...Movie" trilogy is they just refence for the sake of referencing. The worst culprit is "Disaster Movie."
5. They are Clever with their jokes. Also you forgot Borat
6. They do have their fair share of dark humor but they don't linger on them for far too long.
I also forgot to mention that Shrek is a parody of Disney movies and Grimm Bros' fairy tales in general.
I thought the way Gumball did fourth wall breaks was refreshingly subtle (most if the time)
They were funny because they respected our intelligence and expected us to get the reference without spelling it out simply (e.g. they substitute the titles with either a similar one or a mockbuster jab)
Chowder had the best 4th wall gags, for sure
You know what’s crazy. My mother actually took me and my older sister to watch this
I finally know where that violent chimpmunk scene came from. aaand the princess eating a beer bottle came from. Thinking of it now, me and my brother watched it accidentally when I was *six*

Scary Movie paid homage to all kinds of classics in the horror genre. These movies didn't have a single reference to a movie more than 3 months old, so they instantly dated themselves.
