Such a great value! Thanks Chad! I’m using a 10L Camelbak Zephyr hydration vest or 30L Aonijie C9111 Fastpack (review coming) for longer and overnight trips. Definitely considering this one from Innov8 to possibly replace my Camelbak for 5k to half’s. It weighs nearly the same as the 10L Camelbak, but I like some of the features/layout of the Innov8 better. Those side pockets are super cool and seem like an improvement for accessibility.
This is the hydration vest I would have bought last year if I had known about it! I like its big front/lateral pouches. 1 can serve to put all nutrition and tissues the other one as "garbage/bin". and it seems very fit. not bouncing at all on you. I have a Raidlight vest, entry price-point as well, with multiple little pockets... but too many of them which not very handy when you're both running and tired... and can't remind anymore what is where ^^! Nice review, as always, the landscape of your trail training is absolutely magnificent, and beautifully captured.
Thank you my friend! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. And I totally get the "tired while trying to remember where you put something" feeling. Haha
I bought myself the 8 (in a lovely pale teal colour) and tried it out yesterday and it was great, although it is cold here at the moment (UK) so I was wearing three layers under it. I'm pretty sure it won't rub when I'm down to one T in the summer - I tried a friend's Solomon which did rub. I am only 5ft tall and have trouble with rucksacks and other vests being too long for me and rubbing at the top on my neck and/or digging in low down. I didn't have any of these issues yesterday, the small size was still nowhere near the tightest so there is plenty of room to tighten it up when I have fewer layers on. I agree with the lack of bounce - I didn't have it done up very tightly and yet it still didn't move. I've bought the L in black for my son for Christmas so I'm hoping he likes it as well. I found this video while searching how to attach poles to the vest so thank you for that info and more....
How refreshing to see a product being such good value for money in 2024! Based on your review, seems like Inov8 could have added an extra $20-30 on the price tag and still seem kind of ok. I wonder if they're prepared to take the profit hit in order to establish a broader customer base for their vests/other products in the future. I like how the vest looks - simple design (not overengineered), looks pretty solid and well thought out. If you consider it only comes in one color (I think), no flasks and only 3 sizing options, you can see where they have cut costs. Fine with me and credit to Inov8 for this one. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over longer term use, multiple washes etc, but it looks pretty good.
@SeeChadRun Thanks Chad - just one question - does the bladder hose (when used) simply exit out the top of the rear stuff pocket and over the shoulder? No complicated routing round the ribcage via the side pockets like the Adv Skin 12, for example?
@solebrother9620 They kept it simple... There's a piece of fabric on either shoulder that you can feed it through and then through a stretchy loop on the front of the pack.
I've got the ADV Skin 5 vest and have been very pleased with it. I've used it for a majority of my races and many long runs. In my mind it's still the overall pick that I recommend and ultimately end up comparing other packs against... And while the INOV8 RACEPAC 8 may not have quite as many features, it's less than half the price and will still work great in training and races. Plus, the choice of materials and build quality matches that of the Solomon's. Cheers!
The 4L Racepac is on my shortlist. The other is the Adidas Terrex Techrock 5L which is reduced from £140 to £80 on black friday offer. The Techrock has the water flasks included. But Id only need one 500ml I think so that would bump up the Inov8 Racepac to £70. I think I prefer the minimalist look of the Inov8. Im not keen on the prominent Terrex branding. But is it a much better pack do you reckon?
I can't say how the INOV8 RACEPAC compares to the TERREX pack, but it isn't great value. Personally, I'd choose the RACEPAC 8 over the 4 as it adds a little more versatility without bulk. I continue to use this pack and I've been very pleased with it.
I really like the Solomon ADV Skin vests as well but this one is definitely going to stay in my rotation! I went with size medium in both brands which fits me well.

@@SeeChadRun that's great. Keep it simple. Thanks for the quick reply dude!

I like the Solomon Adv Skin 5. But this is definitely enticing. Is the sizing the same?
