My trusty well-used, several year old salmon adv skin 12 is finally starting to die - frayed cords etc. This (and the 20…!) look of interest to me to replace; nice video! I’ll check this and the 20 out. Really competitive pricing too.
100% worth checking out. One extra point I neglected to make is the materials and stitching look and feel a lot more durable than the Salomon. However it remains to be seen how this translates into comfort during an ultra.
Spot on review, just bought the racepac 8 for £60. Selling my active skin 4 and sense pro 10 as they are a little big. The racepack front clips are a game changer for me.
@@DuyPN-fu2tf Haven't done an ultra but have done a 3 hour long run and my only criticism is that it would be nice to have the side/front pocket combination that the Salomon has You loose a bit of extra space that I personally utilise for nutrition. It's not a deal breaker but nice to have.
@@ccumba Thanks for that. My opinion still stands although I haven't done anything more than 15 miles. Next ultra isn't until the UTS in May. I do really miss the extra space tha the Salomon has on the right (my right) pocket where the side pocket reaches around to the front (the Inov8 only has that extra space on the left). However I massively prefer the rear compartment on the lnov8 because the bottom is wider (Salomon's narrows) so it's better for distributing the load and making it flatter. Tbh I don't think there is a huge amount in it between the two vests but Inov8 is far better value
Looks good, thanks. However, I’m really looking for a vest that can carry 4 500ml flasks, with easy access, for hot weather running. I prefer soft flasks to a reservoir so that I can keep track of fluid intake. Anyone know of an option?
Hi Rich, thanks for the video! I did take a look at this vest, and my only concern was the opening of the main compartment at the back seems quite small. Have you had any issues getting kit in/out etc., or have you found this ok? Thanks!
Cheers! I agree it is a touch small but not a deal breaker. It's fine shoving in a dry bag of mandatory kit. Of course it doesn't compete with the side zip opening on the 12. It feels bigger than the opening on the Adv Skin 5 if you're familiar with that.

@@richt3993 thanks for the reply. Good extra info, thanks. And you’re right - the importance of buying and testing before a race! Cheers.
Thank you for this brilliant explanation, it is EXACTLY the information I had been searching for. Keep up the good work!

@@richt3993 it seems that everything you mentioned is resolved in my Evadict 10l vest

Absolutely.
The Inov8 Ultrapac 8 has side pockets for flasks AND front pockets.
