HOW TO Turner Motorsport E46 M3 CSL Airbox Installation: Dipstick Modification and Mounting DIY

    Today we are installing the new TMS CSL Airbox
    A few things that must be done and their corresponding times in video are below. All part links below as well.
    2:06-4:30 Modify and bend Dipstick to new location, or you may purchase a CSL dipstick. We chose to modify ours- this allows us to use the dipstick normally instead of removing half of the airbox to dip oil.
    fabricate a bracket to mount dipstick (on engine preferred and as shown) 4:30-5:57
    Trim Plastics to avoid any rubbing 15:34
    Split box,Transfer standoffs mount lower bracket and setup on the airbox underside 6:00-7:38
    Install intake boots on CSL airbox, hiding clamps for cosmetics 7:45-830
    Mount airbox and being sure that clamps do not interfere with the throttle mechanism, The clamp heads in the wrong position may cause you to hang up on the throttle linkage 8:30-10;30
    Install Lower lines onto airbox, Install Vent hose onto mounting tab10:00- 12:12
    Install CSL air shut off valve 13:30
    Install intake bell12:30-13:20
    Install Intake air temperature Sensor relocation wiring harness 14:00- 15:30
    Consider an oil catch can or CSL vent tube- the stock one does not fit

    CSL Dipstick TUBE- OR MODIFY YOURS LIKE WE DID- If you’re unable to fabricate brackets and bend the tube then this is a viable option

    CSL dipstick- Only used if you decide to use the CSL dipstick tube.

    CSL crankcase Vent hose- the stock one doesn’t fit. If you drive your car hard as its meant to, the oil catch can system is a better option. However, if the extra money isn’t available this hose will work.

    Oil Catch Can System- This is highly recommended over the OEM crankcase vent hose for performance and longevity. The regular vent hose were an emissions part and recirculates oil and creates sludge and carbon buildup from burnt oil throughout your engine, throttle bodies, valves, and everything else!. Using a catch can also takes any water vapors out of your engine that may have occurred! At high RPMS the oil separator system becomes increasingly more important.
    TMS Baffled oil catch can designed for the E46 M3. It installs flawlessly with its bracket and includes a drain hose.
