- The detention of Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi has triggered protests around the world - but there's little hope his sentence will be reversed.
The 33-year-old musician has been sentenced to death, as announced by his lawyer, Amir Raessian, in an interview with Sharghdaily newspaper and shared on X.
Mr Salehi gained fame for his outspoken criticism of the Iranian regime in his music and his support for the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, which started following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini while in police custody in September 2022.
