- Twenty-three-year-old Mohammad Ghobadlou is the ninth person to have been executed in Iran in connection to nationwide protests that rocked Iran in 2022 after the in-custody death of Mahsa Jina Amini.
Member of Parliament for Cloverdale-Langley City John Aldag was a political sponsor of Ghobadlou. He felt connected to him after taking on his sponsorship last year.
Aldag says he has children the same age as Ghobadlou and felt he had like a father-son bond with him.
He took to social media to try and raise awareness to prevent his execution and said he felt helpless when he learned the news.
Global's Negar Mojtahedi reports.

So painful 😢 The world deserves better leaders.
In 2019, Iran 🇮🇷 had 218 cases of capital punishment, 10 times more than the US, despite its population only a quarter of the Americans,
while China 🇨🇳 had more than 1,000.
- and the Chinese regime advertised that China was a "very safe" country. Lol
Naive
Islamic Iran terror😔😔
Any other terror besides the Islamic one?
In Thailand and Phillipines!.......... oh wait
So evil and painful beyond words!
Should interview Prof Marandi, was on with George Galloway MOATS and RT International Crosstalk.... Way more to this story
Let's get prepared for an angrier world folks. 2024 is not a normal year. 😢😮
@MrKenng123 I was thinking the same
At least translate first seconds of your own video where she asks forgiveness from family of victim/police officer.
That's Global's usual way of half reporting, leaving out important context.
“Canadian”
😐😢 down whit islamic repulic of iran ✊
Iran has such a peaceful religion. And Mom continues to wear her Beekeeper suit to honor Allah. I don't get it
I'm not for capital punishment especially at such a young age. Even though he ran his car over a group of police officers severely injuring several and fatally injuring one, I still have a hard time with capital punishment. Sadly it's still practiced in many countries including the US.
Why ?that brings back safety to community ,if you take a live gvt take yours ,and you can ask forgiveness from the family of the victim, isn't that pure justice?
