This may sound semantic but it is a incredibly necessary distinction. Compromise will get us nowhere because there is a vastly negative zone of potential agreement, the two sides are way to far apart. However i believe collaboration is possible if started from the Palestinian side and by starting with agreed upon structures that punish competing behaviour from either side.
I'm afraid it doesn't seem that way. A handful of people speak and act this way, a handful of people retain hope. and the majority of people will always do the opposite. this is about the numbers, not the quality. if hope could change the world, it would not be repeating the wrong things over and over and over and over endlessly.
And this is written in the Bible. One day, The Lord will come back, and all will see that He is the only one who could save you. Please guys, bow your knees and ask God, the 3 in One tho save your black and sinfull hart. Its not to late, one day it is to late...and then..
Just so every here would know: Hamas kills Palestinians for being gay or not loving the Hamas. When people say "free palestine" what they should really say is "free palestine from hamas" and that is what Israel is trying to do. Unlike Hamas, Israel doesn't want to kill innocent people, they just want to take down the Hamas and bring a good government for the people so that there will be no war and the people in Gaza could develop and start building homes and schools and to have a nice country. Israel is trying to free palestine for hamas bc israel gave palestine a lot of money to develop a country but instead hamas takes the money and creates more wars.
I’ve been saying for so long that the extremely hateful pro Palestine protesters calling for the death and destruction of Israel only add fuels to the fire and ofc the extremities in the Israeli government doesn’t help too. It just continues this never ending cycle of death and violence and it’s the innocents who suffer at the end if the day. I think people should fight and hate less and try to understand each other more because everyone gains from a peaceful future in the region where no mother or father needs to bury their child again
@@jamama3But both sides are guilty of terrorism, just different types, the IDF would not rope and parade kidnapped Palestinian young women parading them while Israeelis spit on their unclothed mutilated bodies. In this way Palestinians are different. But the UN forces were found to commit mass violence against the local populations in many countries, so any nation, and ethnicity, even Western culture armies are known for rope. So we can only psychologically assume Israel forces do commit rope when nobody sees. And the Hamas attrocities were horrific, but bombing entire areas disproportionately, knowing that Hamas forces civilians to stay to act as civilian shields, knowing this, especially since the IDF knows that the Hamas militants are often civilians temporary volunteers, so deciding who is Hamas and who is not is complex militarily. So Israel bombing Gaza makes no sense, even if they catch or bomb Hamas leaders, new leaders will take their place. The Palestinians voted (they disagree) for Hamas, and Hamas invested money in military tunnels and weapoms, not civilian infrastructure, and Israeli is so afraid of Palestinians after multiple Intifadas with suicide bombers and Molotov cocktails and stabbings of civilians, the Gaza and the West Bank is separated from Israel physicallly culturally and socially. Hamas and Hezbollah type Jihadist acts only increase the disenfranchisement of Palestinans. Vengence never ends. Even if Palestinians disagree that Israel has a right to the Land, Palestine cannot unalive or terrorist action Isreali citizens to magically migrate to Europe. It is not realistic. And Palestinians know their terrorist actions directed against Israelis will not magically change anything, so in fact, Intifadah perceived as the Second Intifadah, is a form of Gee-n-cide against the Israeli population. Hamas condone their own terrorism as a “Sacred Language of Resistance and Martrdom against the Coloniser” and Israel denies decimating the Palestinian population. And Palestinians and Israelis who call for peace are threatened by their own. So this type of discussion and human contect is unrealistic after 7th October. There were pro-peace activists in Israel but today they are subject to violence from far right Israelis. I hope for Peace.
thats unfortunately extremely naive and privileged viewpoint you can hold, Im assuming youre white but in most cases changes happen through revolution not talk, its not us who choose to be violence but it was the oppressors that made it necessary to do violence.
94% of Israeli Jews think the Israeli military has used “adequate or too little force” in Gaza. Some 88 percent of all Jewish Israelis think the number of Palestinians killed or wounded in Gaza is justified by the war. THIS IS THE ONLY TRUTH WE NEED TO KNOW FREE PALESTINE
This conversation is extremely dangerous. Palestinian people deserve the right to self-determination, the right for refugees to return, the end to the seize of Palestinian land and settlements, the end of the horrible siege and blockade on Gaza and the intentional starvation, the end to the constant mowing the lawn campaigns, the intentional targeting of civilians including my, at the time, 12 year old friend in Jerusalem. The only sympathy the Palestinian people ever get is that of them being the "perfect victims". Do you only have solidarity with Palestinians if they allow themselves to be brutalized by the occupation without ever being able to resist or fight back? Are you in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their struggle, or merely a sympathetic witness to their brutalization and slaughter? People can dilly dally and try to spread fake sympathies but that will never move us forward. Real justice is a requirement. We must reject conditional solidarity. We reject those who want us to make our rhetoric and suffering more palatable to feel better about themselves.

This is what the world needs. Not warmongers, Not fanatics, Not fundamentalists! This is what these two sides need Israeli-Palestinian. These two men should lead, these two men who strive for peace. These two men who have lost so much, but still try so hard to find a path of tolerance. These two men are the epitome of what the world Needs now!!! The people who control the world, control the conflict behind closed doors for their personal benefit. Global elites and military industrial complex create all the mayhem and conflict so that they can continue to profit from them. They are too powerful to be overthrown.
You do need both sides to want peace, forcing it is impossible... when you have terrorists like Hamas, and when 70% of Palestinians support Hamas (so polls tell), how can you make it peace? Its nothing but a wet dream unfortunately, they will never change, they live in an extremely toxic society, where if you talk about peace it endangers your family (arabs who condemned Hamas acts on 7th of October told while interviewed, that their family gets death threats from other arabs). Where if you are a girl and you come home "too late" your brothers will literally hit you to death (they really killed her). This is the sad truth about most arabs in Israel...
Watching this, it stood out to me there was no mediator, interviewer, whatsoever, to regulate the conversation. And they were not sticking to a script. They were having a conversation. Both of them talked for a while, listened and then responded. You can see that these people really understand how to listen to the other side and that this is their job, it is beautiful, and I am so glad I and so many other people can learn from these qualities. You two are beautiful rolemodels on how to move forward, to a better place.
I’m Jewish and I really think this is the kind of video we all need to listen to. For me, I empathize with both Palestinians and Israelis because I know that both are caught up in this tumultuous war when we forget that they both had families that were lost to senseless violence. In a world where we have to align ourselves with political ideologies, Aziz and Maoz are the kind of people we need because they’re people who have been through unspeakable trauma because of their governments and they represent the huge majority on both sides that sincerely want peace. They don’t get enough recognition and I’m glad this TED talk is getting attention. Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon also started this incredible tour business called “Mejdi Tours”, in which it gives nuanced stories for both Palestine and Israel. Their purpose is to create peace “between the river and the sea” as Maoz poetically put it. When I see it, not only does it give me hope but it makes one feel less alone. I hope that there are more people like them out there who truly believe that there will be peace. To anyone who’s Jewish or Muslim, just know that I accept you and I love you unconditionally.❤ Peace will come if more people believe that. It may be a hard journey. But as long as people believe that, the world will change in a second. 🇵🇸🤝🇮🇱🕊️
So you think both sides suffer equally? 45,000 dead vs 1,200? If yes, your morale compass need fixing. There is no comparison. One side is just pure evil and disgusting.
This is beautiful. These two men are showing the best example of how to bring peace. If only their leaders would listen to them. It's never a country's people who are the problem. It is the leaders who seek more power, who stoke fear and anger among their people, who cause all the problems.
No, the fact that most Palestinians are literally governed and support Hamas-ISIS, that's the true obstacle to peace. Most Palestinians don't want peace, they want "victory". And victory will happen only when they will take the land and kick out the Jews. Too bad, that won't happen.

@@ISLAM-is-only-way-to-hereafter That's just completely detached from actual history. Muslims colonized the land, destroyed synagogues and Jewish temples, and many Muslim and Ottomans rulers oppressed them. Under the rule of Islam Jews had no rights and had to pay the Jizya. Jews and Arabs did not live in peace in Israel in many occasions throughout history - For instance: The looting of Safed, the Hebron Massacre, the Palestine riots, etc... In addition, Jews were persecuted and ethnically cleansed in a series of pogroms and government sanctions in most Muslim countries in the 20th century, especially in Iraq following the Farhud Pogrom in the 40s. Unfortunately, history does not change according to different narratives. From the Dawn of Islam, Jews were massacred by Muslims, which are not even native to the land.

That would apply to almost any conflict in the world now....Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine..perpetual conflict with human suffering. Most people aren't aware nor do they care.
I'm finally taking a moment to learn more intricately about the Isreali-Palestinian conflict after I overheard a coworker saying "Palestine let this happen to them. They knew" as if the genocide and displacement of people and their suffering was on their own hands. at the head of this conflict is, as always, ignorant old men who have no interest in peace and no true empathy for their opponents or their own people. Civilians should never have to suffer in a war of their leader's making, and those leaders spurring their own citizens to partake in violence and infighting with those they should love and value as equals is despicable and deplorable no matter where in the world it takes place. Good idea Chamberlin. Of course, the majority of reasonable people want peace and prosperity, but there are still sick unreasonable people out there who want to see the world burn. We must not give in to wishful thinking, as that would be our demise as predicted by Ibn khaldun in the 15th century

To reduce it to "ideology" is to dehumanise these people and their legitimate demands. When words like "Extremism" and "Terrorism" are used in the west, it is never used to describe Jews or white people. Only brown people. Why? Understand that this is racism and unlearn it.

If the goal of peace is crystal clear and shared by both sides, you can use the law to solve this issue. If you pass a law on both sides saying that any actions such as xyz that are considered to be actions that work against peace, you go to jail. For example teaching hate.
@So, just to talk about one side, basically all Palestinian school books have to be reprinted, all schools & public institutions renamed, all posters and murals removed and replaced by the opposite message. Quite a job on your hands. You have to remake the whole Palestinian environment and threaten with jail anyone who tries to return to the accostomed patterns of the past 100 years? I mean I am all for it , but just: Good luck with that..

@@timidtom yeap. Not easy AT ALL. Doable? But I cant see any other realistic solution. Please do emphasis on the word realistic.
@ I probably agree that despite being unrealistic it's the most probable path towards peace. Yet, the path towards at least 20 more years of at least sporadic armed conflict is about 95% more likely and both parties will very likely calculate that in to their planning & day to day policies making it more like 100% certain..

I am a proud Jewish American and I believe the Israeli speaker would make an incredible Prime Minister, and the Palestinian speaker an outstanding President. If leaders like them were in charge, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, the world would undoubtedly be a better place
If people like them were in office, you would be seeing Argentina, Hungary, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia all breaking away from the UN, the Southern United States seceding from the US, the far western states seceding from the US, and a couple of states from the Midwest seceding from the US as well and violence would quickly break out in India.
What states? If you are talking about Judea and Samaria, and Gaza, so let me sum it for you: The guy on the left is being murdered by terrorists, unless there is a plot twist and you realize that he is not so peaceful after all. The guy on the right is being dropped from the position the same day he got it.
I’m a Galilean Arab from Southern Lebanon. I lost many family members in this conflict for 3 generations and it is still ongoing. Before I point toward the speck in my Jewish brother eye, I need to see the log in my eyes as an Arab! My culture is dominated by religious and nationalistic narratives and lies that enslaved us for generations in endless limbo of hatred and bloodshed. It is time for my people to repent and change our ways. We must look in the mirror first and pursue peace regardless of the other side actions. And I believe by doing so, we will build bridges of trust and heal the wounds in a new generation that will find their way to peace with their Jewish neighbors. We don’t live in peace with others and between ourselves and that is why Lebanon have been a mess since 50 years, because we are attracting to ourselves what we are spreading. I wish my people wake up before it is too late and stop this insanity.

The most correct answer is this one. Extremists are the ones causing the conflicts and they exist everywhere and they will keep existing. So wars are not avoidable. Wars will exist as long as humanity exists.
Innocent people? If a rocket lands to a random area and all people die there, even the worst people who died there will be called as innocent. There is no innocent people on the world

Anger isn’t an answer, but if Hamas was allowed to stay in power it would have put Israelis at risk of further attacks. Whats funny is i kinda half listen to things, and i cant even tell which one is Palestinian and which is israeli. Either way the message about growing together is needed.
I am deeply moved by this, particularly that hope is an ACTION, and that if division must be seen, it is between those who believe in constructing a better and peaceful future for all versus those who cannot (yet) see this as a possible reality. Aziz, Maoz- I pray, hope, and beg anyone who listens to you to believe in this message. This is what the world needs, and it is NOT exclusive to Israel/Palestine. This is human nature. Hatred is a strong emotion, and stronger yet when we are see and feeling ourselves and our families oppressed and hurt. But we can overcome this part of human nature. We can belive in a better tomorrow. We can believe in peace through discussion, learning, analysis, understanding. From the bottom of my heart, continue forward, and Godspeed.
This is what we always needed. Civil conversations of understanding and calm. The only way to thrive is to trust each other and hear our stories. We know the struggle when we listen not kill or fight each other using harsh actions like violence and destruction. I pray and hope for less control and anger and love and peace for these human beings.

For Hegel tragedy is the conflict of two substantive positions, each of which is justified, yet each of which is wrong to the extent that it fails either to recognize the validity of the other position or to grant it its moment of truth. The situation between Israel and Palestine is definitely a tragedy.
I was deeply saddened and felt more hopeless with each passing day as the situation escalated, but this clip has given me a glimmer of hope. Your strength, which far surpasses any weapon, is truly inspiring.
These 2 people are doing what the world needs to do: they are talking, compromising, and making peace.
Noooo
It's scripted though
Hamas destroy peace, Iran destroy peace
@MrStuv Yeah? Tell us about it then.
I started to cry when he said "there´s going to be peace between the river and the sea". There is still hope in the world.
That should be the chant in the Western universities.
I'm afraid it doesn't seem that way.

Where if you are a girl and you come home "too late" your brothers will literally hit you to death (they really killed her).
This is the sad truth about most arabs in Israel...

As in Israeli I don’t believe I ever wanted revenge because it will not bring our people back and only make the situation worse, hate will only bring more hate and suffering
But we can not abandon our people that are kidnapped and tortured in Gaza by Hammas, the people who are there for almost 8 months!!
They need to come back home first !!
@@Bella56188the people who have to come back home first are the palestinians who was kicked out their home 76 years ago , the war will end when the palestinians from gaza and west bank can freely see their families and their lands that their grandparents told them about ,and if you are telking about your kidnaping people realize our kidnaping people first who was taken and torturing by israel years and years ago men women and children ...and you will comeback from where you came from your real exsisting countries in europe and north africa ...that time palestine will be free and the war stop

It’s so unfortunate most people in the USA don’t actually realize the gravity of this situation. No empathy whatsoever, just buzzwords and virtue signaling. We’re talking about real human beings, not ideas or politics. I pray for their peace on both sides ❤
That would apply to almost any conflict in the world now....Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine..perpetual conflict with human suffering. Most people aren't aware nor do they care.
There is a growing group of people who are standing against the deaths. Sadly Western media is making it difficult. Censorship is overwhelming.
I still do not know everything there is to know about this war, but I am trying to learn so I can have empathy for my fellow man even across the sea amd with different values than I, because we exist on this planet together.
the what do you want people in the USA to do? it’s not our problem at all, it’s stupid we are sending money to fuel war it should only be used for humanitarian aid
If you wish for peace, forget about 'sides'.
I was filled with tears this whole talk because this has divided friends, families and relationships and to see two people who were severely effected by the crisis and war find common ground through respect, love and understanding is so emotional.

@ISLAM-is-only-way-to-hereafter Before '48, there was NO Palestinian county or kingdom, dude.🙄 It was just region controlled by multiple empires WITH different ethnic groups living in the land. And as for the "we welcomed you in" part, wrong. 1) There were always Jews maintaining a presence in the land no matter how far you go back, and 2) Israel was NOT created to be refuge for Jews, even though it acts like one. For the last 2000 years, the majority of Jews that were displaced and ended up in the Diaspora have always had the mission statement of one day returning home to the place that we descend from.
To my Palestinian cousin, from an Israeli:
In the depth of your tears, I see my own reflected,
Divided by great sorrow, yet our destinies connected.
A dream, faint yet radiant, through sorrow's heavy mist,
Where peace and freedom shimmer, our path to coexist.
Side by side, let us forge a realm anew,
Where Christian, Muslim, or Jew, our unity accrue.
Together, we'll pave a path, hand in hand,
Where children play freely, in a peaceful land.
Inshallah, BeEzrat HaShem, let our hearts be bound,
From the ashes of war, let hope's bloom resound.

When it bleeds, it bleeds all over.
The abode of suffering is the heart.
Bleeding from time immemorial,
Has caused much anguish.
History is full of bleeding, irrespective of religion:
Mahabharat, Karbala, and the Crusades; blood was shed everywhere.
Suffering can cause agony in the wartime
Or Misery in the peacetime
Sometimes it is visible
It hurts the most when it is not.
As the heart and brain do not accept it
Humans cause excruciating pain to other humans.
It is a crime against humanity and Mother Earth
But who cares,
When it bleeds, it bleeds all over.

Of course, the majority of reasonable people want peace and prosperity, but there are still sick unreasonable people out there who want to see the world burn. We must not give in to wishful thinking, as that would be our demise as predicted by Ibn khaldun in the 15th century
In order to be peace, there needs to be justice
we’re here together saying we’ll fight on the same side. this is what a whole world needs.. salute to the both of them
The problem is no matter how far you get it will be destroyed by extremists. How do you deal with extreme ideology
End the occupation and oppression, then you won't have "extremism". Extremism is the result of extreme unjust settler policies. It is a natural response of a dignified people.
Doable? Maybe... there's some examples that are far from perfect and far from finished but we could grab a bit from here and there of places that were able to change. For example racism in the us is less, as I said, far from perfect or finished, but better than before. Jewish hatred in Germany is another example. History can teach us. Its hard, costly, laborious.

Indeed. A meaningless delusion. We're seeing reality right now sadly.
I pray and hope for less control and anger and love and peace for these human beings.

you know I hope for peace between the two...bcuz lives of innocents are more important than land..i hope they find some way so both are satisfied and no more innocents loose their lives ..the traumas this war gave to general people those just wanted to live with their families happily didnt deserve this...so i hope for peace...i wont comment who is right or wrong on the basis of how many people loose their lives in both countries...one life is also precious as much as thousands or millions...they worked for their family , home ,kids , parents but to go all in trauma just bcuz two nation are fighting over a land..and bringing back the history as an example rather than living in peace in present and make a better future..
Hello Ms. It is not about land. It is about radical Islam.
@@MrStuv Ok..whatever the reason is..innocents don't deserve to die..so i hope they find a way to stop this war..understand the sentiment first wt i meant
@@MrStuvyou really need to open your eyes a bit and get out of this vicious cycle 🔁
@@ABB56. I see where you are coming from. Believe me. I know what I'm saying.
@@ABB56. You just can't understand me because you do not live this.
Totally agreed when they said to forget the past and set aside the present to build a better future. Dont let anger turn into hatred.
PEACE !!!!!
I am deeply deeply moved by these two (I’m actually holding back tears). They make it sound easy. It’s not. But I think they are right. Never let anger stop you from doing the right thing. That’s true love for humanity.
None of the people are at fault, it's the governments on both sides who are to blame. The only annoying thing is that the vast majority of the people see only their perspective and their loses and immediately blame the opposing side instead of those selfish people in those high up jobs who make such decisions. It's refreshing to witness even through this screen 2 people so brave yet so morally grounded to look at it for how it is. Thanks TedED for making this video
Bravo to you both. This is how we heal our world.
2 minutes in and im crying....it's so sad what we are all living through...
Thank you for sharing your stories from both sides...my heart breaks
For the first time in months, I am able to let it out- moved to my knees, sobbing. Because I see that we haven’t lost all humanity.
Respect to both of these two. If only world leaders could have heart and courage the way you two showed during this discussion.
There has to be a way we can all live in peace ☮️
Ends of Israel and Zionism that usa and Europe created to control the middle east we used to live in peace Jews + muslims +Christians in most of the Arab countries before 1948
I am a Israeli, but now I see 2 sides 🇮🇱🤝🇵🇸
Thank you
@@cyberprop1 thank you man ! everyone should see the truth ...
For Hegel tragedy is the conflict of two substantive positions, each of which is justified, yet each of which is wrong to the extent that it fails either to recognize the validity of the other position or to grant it its moment of truth. The situation between Israel and Palestine is definitely a tragedy.
Good
That makes sense to me but Israel was the one to invade palistine
they are actually the world leader we need right now...we are different, but we are same too...we are citizen of Earth
I was deeply saddened and felt more hopeless with each passing day as the situation escalated, but this clip has given me a glimmer of hope. Your strength, which far surpasses any weapon, is truly inspiring.
