    I adapted a GM CS 130 alternator to a 1999 Honda CR-V ex the pigtail i had to add a 4th wire to it which is the speed sensor wire. before the vehicle's transmission went i upgraded the alternator to a 160 amp CS 130 alternator by Tuff Stuff Performance. they can be ordered from Summit Racing i got the koolcharger one as it had the cooling fins on the critical area where the bridge rectifier is. the alternator i had to use is from a GM truck with a 7.4 454 big block chevy application. as i had another option to use the larger CS144 alternator but the CS 130 fits in the Honda fine as i had to make a top bracket so it adjusts properly even though it rotates the wrong way it still charges as it does not matter the direction the alternator will charge. as some GM alternators the warning light has to function for it to charge if u use an LED light for a warning light then u need a load equalizer for it to work. as i figure that out as the regular CS130 with the exterior fan on the front will fit in Honda civics, Acura Integras, and Honda CR-v models up to 2001 on Honda D and B series engines. the newer alternator with the internal fans is the CS130D. as they have the 4 wire connections on them. some vehicles u don't need to use a CS130 alternator you can use a Leece-Neville alternator, or another brand alternator whatever fits the vehicle and mounting configuration + wiring depending on the connections on the regulator.

    Excellent video! Does anyone know where I could buy the original 2-wire NipponDenso plug shown around 3:00? Mine is completely broken. Thanks

      This may work for you. The original on the Suzuki is a 3 pin plug: amzn.to/2FsXPPu

      Sorry for the late reply. Some comments were lost in the YT system for some reason.
      The pulley I used came from another stock AC Delco alternator. AC Delco only sells genuine serpentine belt pulleys on Amazon. This other pulley sold there may work. As a bonus, it's a deep groove:

    wont this heavy alternator affect the Engine performance as i believe that the engine is 1300 CC only. I'm driving a Suzuki Gypsy in India and my mechanic asked me not to install a heavy alternator as it affects your engine performance.

      It will be fine. I have zero problems and full engine power.

    would this work for a geo metro?

      @Designedbyinstinct  7 років тому

      Yes, I believe so. There is a smaller size CS alternator called the CS121. I don't know correct part number for it.

    Do you have any power surges after the install? I did this swap with my samurai and I get headlights and turns signal get brighter and then dim and also when I'm driving I get the dash warning lights turns on and off (flicker)

    Where'd you get your v pulley at?

    • @Designedbyinstinct
      @Designedbyinstinct  7 років тому

      From a friend. I think it came off some other GM alternator from Autozone. There are a couple places online that sell new ones for this conversion $14.

      Can you track down the link or part number? This is the last item of contention in order to fully complete. Thanks.
