    What size pulley and belt did you have to upgrade to? Did you need to replace/upgrade any wiring to accommodate the increase in amps?

    I rebuild alternators for a living and you're pretty much on point with this video. That method will work as long as the bearing isn't frozen to the rotor shaft. Even then it's not hard to reset the brushes. The factory alternator is a nippondenso which are excellent alternators,but just fall short in the amp department.

      @FabbinAdventures  6 років тому +2

      Thanks! Yes unfortunately the factory alt just doesnt put out enough for winches, lights, stereos, onboard air or welders. Thats why i went the route i did.
      Yeah resetting the brushes are no big deal, i just wanted to keep it simple for folks that may be a bit hesitant to do this job themselves.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hi could you possibly offer any tips on upgrading my alternator to a cs130 on my grand vitara1 but not having done this before I don't know if its possible to do to my vehicle. Did you have to reroute your hose configeration ,on mine it looks like I may need to to get the alternator in . any help would be much appreciated.

    i wouldn't do that to a street driven vehicle. The stress on the bearing is possibly enough to bugger it up.... if I'm not mistaken....

      Not sure what stress your talking about, its been in service for nearly 2 years now. But thanks for watching Fabbin Adventures!

    How many amps does that alternator give? I have mounted the alternator of a Ford Escort diesel that gives 75 amps! I love these videos you are a teacher! A lot of tools and good hands! Keep it up !!

      Thanks for the kind words! This alternator puts out 105 amps, i had lots of trouble with burning them out untill i put a bigger pulley on it to slow it down, now it works great!

    Do you still use original bracket??

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  5 років тому

      No you have to get the gm conversion bracket from a place like low range off road, or roadless gear.

      Its a GM cs130 alternator. Should be able to go into your parts store and ask for one.

    You suppose to disconnect the negative from the battery first.

    • @alexb4409
      @alexb4409 4 роки тому

      You are wrong. If you leave the positive connected you are at risk of shorting the battery out due to the positive still being connected to the battery. Drop a wrench or something falls on your battery and BOOM shorting.
