The 2 best tips for downwind Foiling are in this video. Game changers!
1. Follow the bumps in front of you.
2. Constant “Angling” while riding the waves- to keep speed and momentum up. Riding anywhere from 5-45 degrees. Just like with traditional surfing, you’re always riding at an angle on a wave. In the energy. The same applies to foil Downwinding open ocean or bay swells.

Definitely need to figure this out. Just wish I could go with someone knowledgeable vs just going solo.
Thinking I should invest in a DW board and some hand paddles as I want some extra safety to possibly get back up if I inevitably crash while learning.

So good! What size board are you riding and how are you getting up? Tow assist? If towed, why don't u go with a smaller board?

this is 4'4 prone board. we use a wave in the surf lineup to chip in up at the top, pump out to the windline and make our way down the coast.
