30 Mile Oahu Downwind Voyage

Alan Davis to area beach so far is Oahus longest downwind stretch we have done. For many years we overlooked or neglected the potential. The wind line is too far outside, the wind direction is finicky, logistics are hard, and so on. But glad we made the voyage because it’s great to get some productive miles in for M2M/M20 training!

In what conditions the ultra high aspect wings are better? Is it possible to navigate faster also on slow bumps with these wings or they only suit bigger conditions? Aloha

@@cefirmeza ultra high aspects just improve the glide and allow you to use smaller wings. In my opinion they perform better when the fetch of the bumps are longer. Short fetch, maybe a 8.5-11 AR would work better for better pump acceleration

Great video! Love all the voyager content! Question: looking at getting into DW and searching for my first kit. Prone background, no paddle experience. I feel the volume formula breaks down for light riders. I am 140lbs, 63kg, so the +20 or 1.4x rule has me around 85-90L, way too small. So should I just focus on length and width? Something around 8ft and 19-20inches? Any rough volume recs? Thanks!

Great words of Wisdom from someone with a lot of experience. I also recommend to shorten the journey if you can by 1. Getting your paddle/stance/pump technique dialed on a standard SUP (perfer Race SUP). 2. Build a Cardio Base on a standard SUP (perfer Race SUP).
