#thefrugalcrafter #watercolor #art - Навчання та стиль
I have some gouache that I have not tried as yet. Watching your video made me want to get it out and see what I can do with it! Thanks Lindsay. I love your videos!😉🤗
You should!
I purchased Davinci Gouache from Cheap Joe’s around 8 years ago. I used it for a brief time & went on to something else. I got them out a couple of weeks ago figuring I’d have to trash them. Nope! They’re fine! I am so impressed!
Thanks for sharing!!
I was thinking to myself, don't do #foodpaintchallenge when you are HUNGRY! And then I just remembered I have French bread pizza in the freezer. close enough!😝
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video.🎉.
You are so welcome!
You always make everything look so easy
Now I want pizza! Lindsay, your food paintings always make me hungry. ❤❤❤🍕🍕🍕
How do you think I feel 😆 I had hubby bring home pizza hut after this!
WOW! It sure doesn't look like you were struggling with the paint! Gorgeous colors and so inspiring. Makes me want to tell my "Why would I want to paint food?" voice to simmer down and get my gouache lol!
You can do it!
I glanced at the thumbnail and thought it was a cooking channel and now I'm making pizza dough. 😂 Thanks Lindsay💜
Enjoy!
Love that brush creates nice wood effect
Thanks, it's called a wisp
I love your painting Lindsay! I also love that you really test things out before doing a full review. So often nowadays I have texts and emails asking for a review - for whatever I bought - when I've barely had time to get it out of the packaging. I've also seen reviews for various things where people are basically saying the item just arrived and it looks great 😂 Which isn't really helpful when I'm trying to decide if I want to buy something, lol. Thanks for all you do! 🌟
You are so welcome!
This painting turned out really good♥ well done!
yum yum ^-^
Thanks!
A lot of people seem to like Davinci. So glad you're reviewing them! I wondered where you were getting your challenges. What fun ways to encourage people to use their art materials! I bought some gouache paints over Black Friday sales too and haven't tried them yet. Also, haven't made the cauliflower pizza crust that I started. Good reminder on both fronts!
I just want a piece of it! That was awesome! Details are amazing.
Thanks a bunch!
Yes, I love food ❤
🎉art supplies while not edibles are a close second
I love this painting. The gouache looks interesting. It was fun to watch you do the details. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Great stringy cheese and loved the wood grain.❤
Thanks so much!
Beautiful 😍
Thanks 😊
wonderful work, I love it ☺☺☺
Thanks!
I love the food paint challenge. He does amazing thing with food paintings
Me too!
I’m excited for the full review of the this gouache! I have the Himi and Art whale ones, and my goal is to update to them as my professional set. So hopefully you will have good things about it 😂
They are a bit quirky.
Beautifully done! I love my Da Vinci gouache. They rewet from dry excellent
Good to know!
Can you put them in pans for later? Some people say they do this but it hasn't worked well for me with the gouache I have. (Holbein)
@@l.b.8779 I think these would pan well, like the mission titanium class.
@@l.b.8779 I think they will pan well! Definitely better than Holbein for that use case. (:
@@GingahSnapsArt thank you!
Love the painting! 🎉🎉🎉 since I use Holbein Gouache and love it I'm sticking w a winner right now...
Good plan!
I bought a large set of Himi gouache in December from Amazon (should’ve started out much smaller); that is, jelly gouache. I don’t really like it. So, I bought Winsor Newton Designer gouache while it was still on sale on Amazon. Until I tried the WN gouache, I was on the fence about the medium. Now, I love it.
To save money, though, I’m still using the jelly gouache in my sketchbook until it’s mostly all gone. I’ll only use the WN for special things for others. Thanks again for a great video. I learn just by watching you🎉🎉🎉🎉
You are welcome:) himi I not my favorite jelly gouache but the annigoni is pretty good!
Hi, Lindsay. Than you for your video.🎉.
You are so welcome!
This pizza slices look fantastic! It is so nice to hear your voice when you are having fun. It was the kick I needed to get my paper and paint out. I also appreciate how you take your time until you are ready to express your opinion for a review. I lokm forward to it when you are ready.
Thanks so much
I absolutely love this piece. I out loud said WOW when you showed it to us on Sat chat. It looks amazing and sooooo delicious. I’m not sure about the technicals of this paint but I’m having fun with them. I did look back at my swatch sheet when you said others said there was a sheen. I won’t say what I found because your still forming your own opinion on them. I have been enjoying them tho. 😊
Since I painted this I have done a few more paintings and recorded my final thoughts so I'd love to know what you discovered.
@@thefrugalcrafter I do see a shine to them. It doesn’t bother me though, it was disappointing when I saw it at first. I made a piece that I will be giving away and that one shows if the consistency is on the heavy/thick side it will dry shiny. There is a sweet spot where it won’t shine.
I made a travel pallet and they re-wet so good. The magenta and the black ended up not sticking to the half pan you know what I mean? So those those moved around I’m not sure if it’s because of the amount that I put because it was a tester so I didn’t put that much just incase I didn’t like the way they re-wet.
I came to the conclusion that I will fill them completely but will keep a tube of white for a clean white. I’m looking forward to having gouache on my travels and I think these are perfect for that. I will update you when I take them on their first trip. 😊
i got a set of 12 turner and the paul rubens , i need to use them more ,i wish it didnt crack, thank you i want to learn to make my own pizza at home ,
These don't crack but they are much more transparent like watercolor is.
😊
Very fun watch. Gosh looks so delicious wanted to grab a slice, been a while since I’ve eaten pizza himm maybe I should make some dough aww could do family make your own pizza night, yep so gonna do this Friday night. Um ok back to the painting sorry I wondered there for a moment. Can’t get De Vinci paints here in NZ but we are slowly getting brands from America if enough Artist ask for them so yes I will be asking for these paints in my art store I go to, you never know no harm in asking. These do look interesting I think it’s that transparent ness your commenting on sounds like a gouache I would like. Will wait for the review but great first look at these.
I asked Jadon to bring home pizza after I painted this 😆
Def good enough to eat. :)
Thanks!
Hullo Lindsay, I have fallen so hard for DaVinci watercolors, but I have avoided gouache as I have so many negative associations with that medium! I have purchased the gouache mixing set from the DaVinci web site, yet I have only used the white! I am surprised at the colors you selected to review, but your gouache collection is probably the reason why you chose them. Please include your thoughts on a good sample set if it is different from the mixing set from DaVinci. I believe that I am excited that you say that this gouache is more of a watercolor experience. I suppose that flat (often dead looking surface) so common to most gouache paints is a dealbreaker for most. I am just more excited about seeing your complete review! I believe that you have created a very desirable pizza painting! I have to say that it was a very successful painting! I am curious about your thoughts on why you have doubts about this being a gouache for your average person? Is it only for professional users? Thank you for sharing this initial impression with us. I have enjoyed watching your videos and listening to your evaluation of supplies for quite some time, please keep them coming! 😊
I'll post the review in a couple of weeks. I chose the colors for mixing (primarys), and I couldn't decide between raw sienna and yellow ochre, so I got them both. Their white is the best bet, no issue there. These are very similar to mission titanium gouache or even the gansai tambi watercolor. The alizeran crimson, pthalo blue, and raw sienna are shiny in mass tone. They are also very transparent except for the white. Quirky.
I got a single tube of DaVinci gouache, and while I like it, the texture isn't like any gouache I've ever used. Otherwise my experience mirrors yours - it's not all that transparent and yes, it's a little shiny when dry. But thanks for this review, as I wondered if it was the tube I got or if my experience with it was typical.
Thanks for sharing! It's kinda stringy. What color did you get?
@@thefrugalcrafter I got the Magenta - it's gorgeous.
Hi! What is a good gouache to start out with (thats not the jellu cups) that doesnt break bank?
I'd get the shinhan 12 set amzn.to/3uGSJxp b3cause the colors are great and easy to use. I slso like the holbein mixing set of 5 but it's almost as much as the shinhan 12 set now.
This is awesome. I m craving for pizza now :D
Thank you 😋
Hi, Lindsay and Gang. This is a retraction. I had brought a seemingly great buy on a Winsor & Newton gouache set to your attention, but when I received it the gouache didn't seem up to snuff to me. W&N customer service confirmed that this was student grade gouache - in spite of the fact that the Amazon ad stated "Designers" and there was a sticker on the box stating "Designers". I have returned it. Sorry. Suzanne
I saw they have release a student grade looking set. I really think winsor Newton is trading on their name by releasing a bunch of white labeled stuff that is the same quality you can get for half the price. You have to really be careful about what you buy from them now.
