Hullo Lindsay, you are so creative with all of the mediums that you work with! Truly a lovely floral painting! I have enjoyed working on Hunnemule velour papers! I have watched Emma Colbert Arts channel and she has videos on comparing different papers and she has a selection of velour papers that is really amazing and her pet portraits are truly stunning! She is able to get a level of detail on her paintings that I have yet to attain! Thanks again Lindsay wonderful video as always. Truly amazing pastel work as well, thank you.
OMG!!! You've done a boatload of paintings that are my favorites (your 4 fall leaves on the boardwalk was one that made me sign up with you) and this was is no exception. I don't know of ANY other artist who does soft pastels as well as you. You are gifted to be sure. It looks so realistic even my husband thought it was a photo. I bought your pastel class last year, and this, THIS is one I'm wrangling next. Absolutely STUNNING, Lindsay! ! Applause applause!!! :) Fanna
As usual, the way you create realistic glass and flowers no matter what media you are using is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing with us so generously and explaining what you are doing and why, each step of the way. We always can count on learning from every video you do. Thank You!
Your work is stunning in pastels. Im always amazed when I watch you work in other media besides watercolor, I forget how proficient you are in so many different mediums. you are so talented and honestly this pastel painting came out amazing!❤ I would buy it and hang it in my house it's beautiful Great job!
Absolutely beautiful! It was so helpful to see the reference photo on the screen--as you created, I could then see the highlights and lowlights better. Thank you.
I am going to echo the word gorgeous for the painting! It’s fabulous, and the hints you gave us as you went along are priceless! Thank you so very much Lindsay.😉🤗
Absolutely gorgeous, Lindsay. It took me forever to get through it this morning because I couldn't hear it well enough. (Not your fault, I think I'm losing my hearing). Definitely well worth the persistence on my part. 🤟
Gorgeous! It looks great on the toned paper. I'm wondering if something like moleskin with an adhesive back would work and last longer and not dry out for covers. Thanks for all of the handy tips, too.
😮 Oh my goodness Lindsay this was gorgeous to see you create with the pastel mediums. This medium is very new to me with all three different types of pastels (pencils, pans, & sticks). I have got some individual sticks of white, light gray, & light blue that I use for textured highlights’ sparkle for my watercolor paintings. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Gorgeous Lindsay. The colors are so pretty. Do you have a pan pastel tutorial? I'll check. I have the 20 set and soft tools but never use them. Thank you for another inspiring video.
This is stunning! I have been having a rough start to this year. January was a total loss. February has been a bit better with me diving into junk journaling. I doubt I will get much done in the near future because I have to move some time this year.
I may have missed it but if you don't have velour paper for soft pastels what about cold-press watercolor paper &/or gesso treated paper. Is that too rough for the soft velour look/feel?
I highly recommend critique club. I love it. I find it really helpful. Beautiful artwork. Soft pastel isn't my thing but watching it done well definitely is. :) gorgeous!
Brilliant:) I hope and trust you will enjoy it at least as much as I do. Yes definitely, for me it's like listening to Bob Ross, but more than just oil painting:)
Wonderful flowers! Beauty! I like your creativity! Catch my big like for promoting your creative channel! With all my heart I wish you creative success in creating new beauty! With a friendly smile, Mr. Hi! :)
Beautiful as always! Makes me want to break out my soft pastels. I wonder if you wash the covers with a conditioning soap, in between uses, if they'll last longer. 🤔
I love your channel, definitely a favorite! I recently got those pencils from Amazon and I adore them! The colors in the set seem more suited to portraits. They behave a lot like my Carbothellos but not as soft as the Caran d’Ache. They sharpen like a dream! I wish the tin lid stayed on tighter; I put mine in a pouch and they’re holding up great… what are your thoughts on them? 🌷
So the pencils are graphite, the pan are oil, and the soft are chalk? There's also wax? I think the ones I have are all oil except the watersol crayons. I like their softness a lot except they aren't truly "opaque" in that a lighter color won't go over a dark- it will just mix with it. I do the cheap pentel on the bottom and then go over with the super soft monte marte. I learned that from you :)
Pan pastels are only made by one brand, but there are lots of good stick pastels. These Arrtx and Paul Rubens are good but not the cheapest, and I like the soho brand as well, but if those are out of your budget, Faber Castell studio half stick set is nice amzn.to/3Pjm4Fh and amazing has the 72 set 40% off
I like to hold my artwork up to a mirror or take photos of my work in progress and then flip them left to right. I can usually then spot any corrections needed because the flipping forces my brain to look at the image from a totally new perspective
Beautiful ! I just got a set of Ohuhu soft pastels...my first ever set...seemed like a good beginner set, but I have no experience with them so I'm not sure. I have used Hahnemuehle velour paper though, with my Luminance coloured pencils and I adore that paper! Wonderful video, thank you for all the tips...I will break out my Ohuhus and give it a go 😊
Gorgeous as always.
Just now, I'm obsessing over oil pastels. Soft pastels look lovely, but I worry about the dust.
Thanks 😊
It’s so magical watching this piece come together. The writing on the glass the reflection on the table. I’m in awe. Thanks for sharing 🥰
Thank you so much!

Great idea!

wow, really gorgeous Lyndsey.
Thank you so much!!
I may have missed it but if you don't have velour paper for soft pastels what about cold-press watercolor paper &/or gesso treated paper. Is that too rough for the soft velour look/feel?
You can totally use that, the look will be a bit different. Try the papers you have:)
I highly recommend critique club. I love it. I find it really helpful. Beautiful artwork. Soft pastel isn't my thing but watching it done well definitely is. :) gorgeous!
Thank you!
I just signed up for it and am super excited to explore all the tutorials! Sometimes, I just play Lindsay’s tutorials to listen to her talk 🤣

I really like them. They do sharpen well! I put them in my storage with my other pastel pencils so I will use them more!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
This is gorgeous! Is velour paper similar to suede board?
I think so
So the pencils are graphite, the pan are oil, and the soft are chalk? There's also wax? I think the ones I have are all oil except the watersol crayons. The products I am using here are all a type of soft (chalky) pastel.
Say what brand of pan pastels do you recommend, on a budget. Thanks

Such a beautiful reference picture isn't it?
It sure is!
Wow!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks!

Good tip!
👍👍👍
Very pretty. But not into pastels. It's a texture thing with touch.
Many people are like that:)

I wouldn't think colored pencils would work on that.
