Thanks for putting this out there. I paid for a memory improvement kit, paid over 250 bucks..so I could remember anatomy and muscles. I later taught it to my kids for school. It was very similar to yours...the first one was making my whole body the files. Head face neck etc etc and then when we went on to larger needed memory it was a house. Rooms in the house, closets, placing things you needed to remember in those rooms. It's a brilliant trick for our brains!! Thanks again!!
I got 8/10. The video really helped me, as I have about 200 things to remember for a maths exam. I realised I can use this method with the flash cards to remember the theory and then do practice papers. I can combine it with a memory palace - so a room per subject, then a-z for each topic within that etc.
First Time - 1 Second Time - All 10. I was stunned that it worked... and the recall was almost immediate. I have had a problem with short term and long term memory from 1987 when I was 12 years old involved in a major car accident, head injury etc. I have never been able effectively memorize any type of information. I would be interested in other techniques for lectures / reading information and remembering it / and ..."I totally forgot what I was going to say" ...(after 60 seconds) AND remembering Names.
I've read about these sorts of tricks before so I had a story about a teddy bear sitting on a desk, walking over to a microphone & tripping over a water bottle into an armchair, there was an orange drink next to it etc etc.

The animal filing system is good, but on the first round I used a story. There was a teddy bear, on a desk, singing into a microphone, water bottle in one hand, spinning on an office chair, while drinking orange juice. Both times I got 8 - so still some work to go. Thanks for a cool exercise!
“The more outlandish the picture, the better it’s gonna look” - this holds truth. Such a cool exercise! I pictured each animal using the item in some way to help me remember. By the end of it, it didn’t feel like I was trying to hard to remember but rather, it just came. First time with just memorizing, I got 7/10, 10/10 for the animal recall, and 10/10 when using his method.
I came across your video since watching last year amongst others over the years. I'm a Computer Scientist currently working on a dissertation on QM algorithms this has helped alot! Thank you! I had to recall #7 and #8 for a minute but got all 10 correct initially! It is a matter of Practicing this technique, fine tuning it to fit more relative fimalar list objects to build my file systems per say, but this is quit effective for listing large amounts of information. With anything though, it does take minimal time to practice and master. I find with something more personal to allocate my list building helps tremendously remember such as numbers( I picture numbers as characters with eyeballs then relate them to marvel comic characters #1 is IronMan just FYI), listing more similar thing in the alphabet as well, more personal to me. I have been able to expand on this and is very useful. I have also showed this to a few Med students who swear by this when having to remember human anatomy it as well! very intuitive, simple, and effective! Thought I would give you a shout out thank you!
10 right and I didn't get any right the first time!!! And I have the world's worst memory! This video came at the right time because it really gave me proof that learning a language, esp. vocabulary, is easier with a picture or phrase! THANK YOU!
This was really great! I got 7 the first time because I was familiar with the memory palace technique but the second time i got 10/10 using this technique
On a wet weekend on holiday I learned to memorise 100 items , it was a system where the numbers up to a hundred has a meaning , etc , no 2 was a swan , 7 was a fish hook , so you could go back and forth and recall the place in the list of any item ,
Rene Bastarache I can already tell it is very helpful. The issue is that I have exams in two foreign languages starting next week. So, I need to remember many new words, and that's a different challenge I guess
You can use the word and the definition by creating a mental picture with the mental filed item you've chosen in your mental file. Then think on the item and you'll remember the word and definition. Just remember to make the entire scenario outlandish, funny or ridiculous so it will be easier to remember. Try it with a few to see how it works for you. Good luck...
Got 7 at the start, with no specific memory technique, and 10 at the end! But the most impressive is not just how many you can remember, but how easy and fluid it is to recall the items of the list. Really impressed! Hope I can use it on my law studies, hahahah!
Glad you liked it! Great job! :-) We just created a New MEMORY RETENTION & Test Taking Course. Click Here to learn more about it if you like: americanschoolofhypnosis.com/memory-retention-course
Actually now that I think about it, there’s a lot more stuff that I have to study. I gotta remember; Chapter 1; Earth and space ( solar system, AU, observable universe), Chapter 2; living matter (DNA, cellular division & organization)… this continues till chapter 11 which is engineering. But I’ll try my best. Btw my school book for science is over 400 pages
First time I pictured the items and remembered 9 of them but only 2 were in the right order, second time I did his method and got 10/10 in perfect order!!! I love this one! Learned it so quick and can use it for life. Thanks man :) I didn't even know this was a hypnosis guy, I just needed a mental break, and it sounded interesting and was a short video, so I clicked. BTW - having a very stressful morning here, but that exercise gave my mind a break from all of that and really helped me detach from everything, and that was really cool. Very interesting. I also do hypnosis/NLP, I'm a therapist, and I'm going to use this and learn some more stuff from this guy. I want to open up a support group for coaches afraid of selling or something like that, so I've been researching more stuff lately. I can't wait to check out your other videos! :) Thank You!!
I used a loci point setup that I'm already familiar with for the first run through...so I got 10/10 in order. The second time...I only got 8/10, but I blame that on me and not the method. I didn't create vivid enough connections with the animals. This method actually seems great. I'm shocked that I haven't heard of it up til now. Thanks for sharing! I'm already thinking of ways to expand it to file more info. Maybe use the letters a-y (ditching z) so that there is exactly 25 letters per run through (easier to memorize numerical locations in increments of 25 than 26 imo.) And then maybe use more specific categories. Like large mammals a-y, small mammals a-y, reptiles a-y, insects a-y, landmarks or locations a-y, objects a-y...Theres 300 slots off the bat. Do you have any specific method that you use to scale it up past 10?
Just be creative and you'll find many ways to do it. I just put this exercise here to show what's possible. I used it for my daughters senior exams over 20 years ago. She memorized 400 definitions in order, both forwards and backwards. It was spooky lol. Way too long an explanation to put here but it is possible to expand. Good luck
I tried this because I have to study for history for my exams and I just cannot figure out the right study method. The first time I kept repeating the things I had to remember, which I couldn't do fast enough after number four or so, so I just restarted where my last word ended. I got 6 out of 10, whilst after the exercise I got nine out of ten, because the cheetah I came up with just did not make sense. What i learned, is that making useful memories is actually helpful. It is not about just getting yourself to remember for now, it is about creating long term memory files, which will actually last. Thank you so much. This video was not only educational, it was also very fun to challenge myself! Thank you!!
Brilliant technique. First time I got three (only two really because one was in the wrong place). Second time I got 9. So this method definitely works!! As an actor I’m always looking for a way to make learning lines easier and this one just got added to another method I use. Many thanks for this.
the first time i got 9 by using a different mehod, i would just imagine myself walking into my room and step by step looking at the items, but if there were more words it would be too confusing, i tried the new method, i got 10 and it was all in order thanks!
I remembered 3 of the words in sequence before learning the technique but 8 of the words in random order. But after learning the technique, I remembered all of them in the correct sequence.
I remembered them all after the tips you gave! I usually used numbers and now I like the use of letters, first time using the alphabet for memory, I believe! Thanks for helping me widen my perspective! :)
I got all 10 On the last exercise, first exercise I did not have them in order and I am missed three. These tools are great for me I’m recovering from a TBI and my short term memory is needs help. Thanks so much for making this video
My English isn't very good, and I couldn't think of any animals starting with "i" and "j". But watching this video helped me learn two new words, iguana and jay. I knew about this memory technique before, but I never tried it. Today I gave it a shot, and it's amazing! I went from 4/10 to 10/10, and I think I'll remember all of them even tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing such a helpful memorization tool. By the way, when you mentioned teddy bear as the first item, I sincerely thought, what a perfect way to describe you.
Got 5 the first time and 9 the second. Sounds good to me. Works good for visual people. I will always see a caterpillar with a microphone from here on!
First time I got 3/10, with your method I managed to get 10/10. Thank you for sharing. I'm now trying to find a way of memorising new characters for language learning.
This is very good. As a not a native English speaker, I struggled with animals, but I still got say 9.5. I remembered the office chair the 1st time, but not the 2nd time as got confused with my 'Polish animal substitute', which actually turned out to be a completely different animal than I thought, and that screwed my memory process. This works 👌🏼
First time 10(and in order) using another technique of making a story out of it. Second time 8. I've watched a couple of videos on memorizing coz of my exams. (Analytical chemistry has procedures that you need to know in order, )I'm positive I'm going to get it right eventually.
I had all at the first attempt because I have been practising for such along time with my own techniques. I create story from the words I need to memorize
love the content in this uncles face and smile, because he knows, the viewers realize what he says works. gotta learn the amount of 450 pages condensed onto 60 in just two weeks time for my first state exams- desperate situation. lets see if this method is fruitful :)
holy damn i git 5 before then got 10 after i suffer from post concussion syndrome and my memory is going on me i would like to know how to put this in practice from reading from textbooks
I got 5 the first time and 10 the next time, honestly really surprised lol Also, how do we scale this up with higher amounts of items needed to memorize? Should I put multiple items in the sentence,or should I make multiple different sentences for each letter?
That was a really mind-blowing technique 🤯 Before using the method, I only got 3 items. After memorizing with the technique,WOW I got all correct. Thanks a lot buddy!!!!
I got 4 out of 10 the first time and I got 10 out of 10 the second time. I was able to go through the second time without having to wait for you to say the number or letter. I actually did not want to do this, because I need to memorize large definitions and examples of things. But I went ahead and gave it a try and I'm very glad that it worked. I will find a way to use this. And I'm going to look for another way to memorize very large passages and descriptions. Thank you!
Hi Kae, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and great job by the way. My daughter used this technique to memorize 400 definitions on government for a test and was able to remember them in order. You expand this idea for anything you like if you use your imagination.... Good luck.
@@americanschoolofhypnosis Thank you. I also tried a version of this with my son. He's 4 and we used the colors ROY G BIV to associate with animals. He made up his own story and it worked so well!
Eight the first time ( not in order ) and 10 the second time. I have a 20 page speech I must deliver and am so nervous - I keep going blank. Your tips worked so well for items, any ideas to help me with my speech? Thank you!
Short term memories such as your speech or things we read are stored in the Alpha brainwave state which is a light state of relaxation. When you're nervous you have difficulty reaching that level and remain in the Beta State which is why you can't remember things. So step one is to remain relaxed and take a deep breath before beginning. Next, take the time to imagine each part of your speech as if it were a story being played out by cartoons. Make it bigger than life, outlandish and funny. Be as creative as possible. Once you've done that, sit back relax and see how easy it now is to remember your speech. I wish you the best with it...
10/10. I'm late to the party but I've never experienced this much excitement and shock from seeing something WORK. before I tried the method I only got to 5/10, and having my mind remember each item perfectly (except for the stapler, but I got it in the end), made me feel ecstatic. I'm definitely trying this for my test tomorrow! Subscribed. Edit + P.S. - The hardest part for me was thinking of an animal starting with B, H, and A to my own amusement
5 of 10 the first time, not in the right order. 9 of 10 the second time, all in correct order. Simply blanked out on the 9th. I need to make a stronger association next time. Thanks for the hack!

It is very timecomsuming though. Brute force repetition would do the same in shorter time.
Is it the Anthony metivier kit?
I guessed 9 on my first try!!! Will be using this technique for pharmacology , thank you!!

Oh my goodness!! This is crazy how it works!! It worked for me. All 10! Perfect score! Thanks so much.
Glad it helped!

i got 9/10. its a fantastic exercise but im not sure how to use it to memorise paragraphs of information

Nice exercise.
Thanks for this.
I got a 7 on my first try and 10 on my next.
Great job! :-)
Marvelous presentation, the technique works, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Got 5 the first time and 9 the second. Sounds good to me. Works good for visual people. I will always see a caterpillar with a microphone from here on!
Caterpillar with a microphone? lol That's awesome...
First man: You have a bad memory.
Second man: I do too.
First man: You do not!
Second man: I do too!
First man: You do not.
Second man: Do not what?
First attempt - 2/10
Second attempt - 9/10
Thank you.❤️
Great job! Thanks for visiting.
first time=1; second time=10
You're a natural! :-)
@@americanschoolofhypnosis thanks for this info
Same
3 years later, using these techniques in medical school 🙏🏻
First run through I got 9, then after expertise I got 10, awesome work thanks
Well done!
That was fantastic. This exercise really helped a lot.
Glad you liked it!
THANKS SO MUCH I HAVE FINALS IN TWO DAYS AND I HAVENT STUDIED ENOUGH!!!!!!
First time I got 3/10, with your method I managed to get 10/10. Thank you for sharing. I'm now trying to find a way of memorising new characters for language learning.
Great job!
100%!! Thank you so much, I'm gonna use this from now on
You're welcome!
9/10 and I was not so much concentrated! Amazing technique! Love it! And love your videos!
Awesome and Thank you!
1st time (without technique): I could only remember 2 items. The first and the last in the list.
2nd time (with technique): I remembered all 10!
Great job!
I got all of them right! Thanks! I'm a casino dealer will this help me memorize 3:2 and 6:5 black jack winnings?
This is very good. As a not a native English speaker, I struggled with animals, but I still got say 9.5. I remembered the office chair the 1st time, but not the 2nd time as got confused with my 'Polish animal substitute', which actually turned out to be a completely different animal than I thought, and that screwed my memory process.
This works 👌🏼
Great. Glad you liked it.
@americanschoolofhypnosis Very much so, thank you 🙌🏼
First time 10(and in order) using another technique of making a story out of it. Second time 8. I've watched a couple of videos on memorizing coz of my exams. (Analytical chemistry has procedures that you need to know in order, )I'm positive I'm going to get it right eventually.
Great job... :-)
Idk how this is possible cause if you really made it out the 1st time you should be able remembering em the second time very well
I had all at the first attempt because I have been practising for such along time with my own techniques.
I create story from the words I need to memorize
8/10 after the exercise , inspirational!
Can we look at tips to mémorise poems and speeches? Thanks.
love the content in this uncles face and smile, because he knows, the viewers realize what he says works.
gotta learn the amount of 450 pages condensed onto 60 in just two weeks time for my first state exams- desperate situation. lets see if this method is fruitful :)
holy damn i git 5 before then got 10 after
i suffer from post concussion syndrome and my memory is going on me i would like to know how to put this in practice from reading from textbooks
How come this video only has 114,188 views for the past 7 years ?
This is a good starter for the memory palace technique.
Thank you for the sentiment. Please make sure you share it with your finds and family.
10 (1s time) 10 (2nd time)
I need a way to memorize physics for school exams, doesn't really work with letters or numbers you know
Me two
Valery Bell me too *
Samee
First time around I only got 3/10, 4 if you count a correct word in the wrong order. Second time round 10/10. Nifty trick
I got 5 the first time and 10 the next time, honestly really surprised lol
Also, how do we scale this up with higher amounts of items needed to memorize? Should I put multiple items in the sentence,or should I make multiple different sentences for each letter?
I got 2/10 the first time and 6/10 the second time. That was cool! Thank you!
Great job!
Wow got 10 :)
Teddy Bear
Desk
Microphone
Water Bottle
Office Chair
Orange Juice
Stapler
Trash Can
Computer
Pencil
That was a really mind-blowing technique 🤯
Before using the method, I only got 3 items.
After memorizing with the technique,WOW I got all correct.
Thanks a lot buddy!!!!
That's wonderful to hear! You're welcome :-)
Person, Woman, Man, Camera and TV 😁🤣 I had a stroke twce and cant remember a thing but i remember that.
😅😅😅😅
4 right at first then all 10 right the 2nd time. Thank you for this video sir. May God bless you!
this is helping so much thank you
You're welcome George.
Thank you!
Hi Kae,
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and great job by the way.
Rene Bastarache , Thank you so much for your kind reply. I will give it a try.
Welcome aboard! Glad you enjoyed it. :-)
I got all 10
5 of 10 the first time, not in the right order. 9 of 10 the second time, all in correct order. Simply blanked out on the 9th. I need to make a stronger association next time. Thanks for the hack!
