When I see a security guard and parent taking away a child who is crying, "I want to ride," my heart aches. But with time, I'll be able to stamp that child's ticket. Forget the memes, this is a staggeringly well constructed piece of music. The horn bass line represents the monotony of the daily grind, but slightly changes at points as guided by the other instruments. Then the rattling strings represent the people coming to your desk - mostly innocuous, but with a slight layer of intrigue. Next we have the string baseline which comes in at 0:23 (and a half), which represents that the daily monotony is starting to get just a bit more complex and dangerous. We get our first major percussion at 0:46, but only one strike. One strike of something dangerous. Then again at 1:03; as tensions are starting to ramp up, the weight of the percussion gets closer. Finally, at 1:20 the percussion kicks in fully as we get a key change - your job is no longer just boring paper pushing, but real, heavy duty work on which lives depend. It's some of the best aural representation of themes I've heard in a video game.
I wanna read something like this for most of the atmospheric musics. The most recent game I have played is gta4, which has a super unique and stylish soundtrack. It made me feel so much, but of course I wanted to read something explaining about it.
Just played it after 4 years yesterday and got all endings. Basically played it for the whole day. Still holds up and if the dev made a sequel I’ll bet it’ll be wildly successful and something a lot of people talk about for at least a year or two. Really hope the developer does make a sequel.
