I love how cold and stoic the inspector is, yet you can see his moral struggles which is how I imagine his character to be in the actual game.
And it greatly encapsulates the consequences of letting the wrong person in when judging by morality, truly shows how hard this job have to be. Absolute masterpiece

@@BRNardy in one of the endings, inspector can escape to cobristan(sorry if I butcher it). The inspector for cobristan interrogates the player, and shows the picture of the player, which he has a beard. Unless you mean the picture in here, then yeah I get it.

6:11 I love that even Jorji was put into this. Hes such an endearing character, apart from where he tried smuggling drugs, but thats in the game.
And he goes away calmly when he's detained, no panic, just disappointed acceptance, promising to come back with better papers next time.

Watching this right after finishing the game hits different. The way it captured the guilt of the first time denying entry to someone begging to be let in, what a masterpiece. RIP Igor Savochkin, I didn't know who you were before this but you were the perfect inspector. I'm going to replay the game with this character in mind now.

I'm Belorussian (I have a Russian name and I speak Russian as well) and our names are always spelt differently in English. In my passport my surname is spelt with "Y" and in other documents it is spelt with "I". It just always happens to us (sorry 4 possible grammar mistakes)

I think it works better as a short film, a full movie would require a lot of added stuff which would ultimately take away from the spirit of the game, imo

5:25 i used to work at the passport expedition office and yes, this is accurate you have to make sure all the documents are alright with what the official archives say, sometimes someone else made a mistake and you can't do anything but deny them their passport until they fix their papers.
Sometimes, and mostly old people, will beg you to make an exception for them and start telling you the story of their lives, they don't have much time and want to see their children abroad, they always wanted to travel and such, when they start to cry you wished you could do something but there is a reason why there was never an exception.
The moral of the story: don't trust anyone visiting his sister 👌

8:04 уверен это уже подмечали, но я заметил часть деталей только спустя эти годы) "до конца жизни не забуду" и далее она взрывается, очень продуманный и намеренно слишком тонкий чтобы был намек на дальнейшие события, а вот мертвый взгляд заметил только сейчас, ее специально даже загримировали посильнее, чтобы это бросалось в глаза, актерская игра так же намекала. Отличнейшие работы вместе с бехолдер! Жаль что марафон картин такого рода кажется завершился, согласен что был бы идеален this war of mine и с бюджетом отлично сделан даже фростпанк. (Хотя во втором мне кажется куда сложнее учитывая, что даже сама игра скорее стратегия.))

This is amazing and I'm glad I found this video again. This is truly heartbreaking because you really want to be nice but a gesture of kindness and understanding can put so many lives at risk. That is what makes this job so difficult and emotionally taxing. This short film really shows that well. I love this.

That was amazing! Love the choice of the lawful neutral inspector whose heart starts to melt when he can get away with it. The set design was simply fantastic too. I would watch a feature length version of this multiple times over!

Especially Elisa’s part, even though she wanted to enter because of Sergiu, she can’t because she has no entry permit. What if she and Sergiu had planned something? Maybe that’s the reason why Sergiu persuaded the Inspector to let her through even though an entry permit is strictly required. Showing empathy because you’re human, but if you showed it to wrong people, you’ll no longer be a human anymore.

in game it is so easy to be mercifull to everyone though. I even gave back the pasports to the guy with 2 fake ones XD.
Btw if the guards were able to hit someone 5 yards away with a rifle or see someone walk up to them in the opposite direction of where they are supposed to go and say “for kolechan”(or how ever you spell there countries name) after the same attack has happened many times before a lot of the attacks could be avoided

I'm here after 100% completing the game. What an incredible experience, I've never experienced anything like this! The short film beautifully manages to capture the atmosphere of the game and do it justice, albeit with a low playing time available. P.S. what a heart of stone from the inspector, personally I have never refused Elisa entry, she and Sergiu are my favorite characters... alongside Jorji, of course! ;)
