🚓🚓 Thanks for clicking by and checking out one of Greg's all time favorite movies: HOT FUZZ! This is a "Take Two" for Video Village after an microphone malfunction ruined our original, first time watching (for Des) reaction. We asked our subscribers what they wanted us to do, and the response was overwhelmingly to have us watch it again - which is NEVER a problem as this is perhaps the best film in the Cornetto Trilogy (Greg's bold statement). Thank you all for your continued support, and don't forget to leave a comment down below and let us know your favorite parts of this action-comedy classic!
I can only imagine the row offscreen when you had to tell her you forgot the audio 🤣 Still making up is twice as nice. You did a good job anyway so no worries.
@@Muckylittleme he was at his place and texted, but my phone was on DND, so missed it at first. No use beating him up. He was going through it. Was hoping when I woke up it was a bad dream 😭 (We are just friends)
One think I feel people from non British countries miss is the chief's arm in a sling during the mugshots. Every child in the UK is told that a swan can break your arm with it's wing, and that is where he got his broken arm from not the crash. I don't know if the swan detail is a thing elsewhere -- but we take it from cradle to grave.
2:00 - audio comedy element - the song at the opening is "Goody Two Shoes" (1982) - perfectly complementing the intro of our straight and narrow protagonist.
50:20 After watching this over 20 times all the way through, I just realized that Janice Barker named her two boys Roger and Martin is a Lethal Weapon reference... Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs!😂
A great 'under the radar' movie is 'In Bruges' To this day I cannot understand why this seems relatively unknown...Not a line or scene wasted...really tight script
Totally agree! It's one of the best movies of the early 2000s, it's beautiful, sad, hilarious, tragic - spot on directing, writing, acting... but boy is it a tough watch (which is what makes it so great). If Des hasn't seen it, it's one we'll end up doing at some point I'm sure. - Greg
Of all movies ever produced, Hot Fuzz has to be top of the list on watch again, again and again to pick up all of the gags and reference detail. It's off the chain!
😂Love the reference, and I completely agree! This is SO fun to rewatch. Though we were bummed to lose our first reaction, it was a blast to go back through it with Des. - Greg
You were saying about some of the older Actors not getting to play in Action Movies. Forgetting? that the Actress playing the Hotel Owner (Hag) played the second Nanny in "The Omen" and fought in the kitchen with Gregory Peck. Also, that Edward Woodward played an action hero in "Callan", played the hero in the original TV series of "The Equaliser" and was also the Police Sergeant in "The Wicker Man" (whose last words in the film were "Oh God No") Plus he appeared in many other Action films. I think they all knew what they were doing.
100% - and it showed! They were amazing at it. I was more thinking at their ages rather than in their careers, either way, they killed it! Thanks so much for this. - Greg
I don't know if someone else has commented with this or you already know. But of the 3 village of the year judges near the end of the movie. The 2 female judges were played by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's Moms.
I know you had trouble getting this reaction done, but honestly it was worth it! This movie has one of the tightest scripts ever written with almost every line being either forshadowing or a callback. Brilliant work by all involved! Also, have you ever watched Spaced? If you like Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost you should definitely give it a watch.
@@carlgibson285 thank you! We are still trying to figure out how to use some of the footage from the original reaction. I have not seen Spaced (forget if Greg had) but we’ve had it recommended a few time now.

A couple of things many viewers from outside the UK miss: 1) the code for the evidence room at 11:55 is 999 - the UK national emergency phone number 2) the twin sergeants (at 9:08 and 10:28) are played by comedian Bill Bailey, who is very famous in the UK and a number of other countries (and among those who are familiar with stand-up comedy). He's been in a number of TV quiz/game shows, and some of those as well as his live stand-up shows are here on YT. Worth a look. On a different note, at 52:28 a deranged character saying "we would make Sandford great again" by using extreme measures takes on an interesting twist since the US election... 🤣
Thank you for that! I love getting that kind of insight that I miss as an American viewer. LOVE Bill Bailey - but I'm a stand up nerd like you mentioned. Appreciate the comment and the watch! - Greg

Hey great video, if anything this is the perfect movie to do a "take two" on. BTW: the other cops probably do actually live, you can see some of them getting up when Pegg goes to check on Frost at the end. "take out all the little people, you get to waltz off with the cuddly monkey" "cuddley monkey" is a fun way to describe Nick Frost, don't you think? "facist!" she says, as she uses the German machine gun from ww2. Perfect, no notes. If you've never heard it, I highly recommend the audio-commentary by Tarantino and Edgar Wright about this movie, it's just 2 action movie nerds geeking out and it's beautiful. Also obligatory: they originally wrote Frost's part as a love interest, but no one really liked the idea, so they kept most of the dialogue and gave it to Frost. Bonus one: the two Bill Bailey's are reading books by the same author, but one of them is when the author adds a middle initial for his sci-fi stuff.
Thank you very much for this awesome reaction! Hope you’re at full health Greg! “Shaun of the Dead” is like “Night of the Living Dead” had a drunken hookup with “Monty Python,” while “Hot Fuzz” is Michael Bay directing “Midsomer Murders” on a Red Bull bender. But holy shitballs, “The World’s End” (my fave) takes the fucking cake, or should I say, the Cornetto. It’s like “The Big Chill” and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” had a love child raised by philosophical pub crawlers. TWE is a masterpiece that hits you in the feels harder than the Kool-Aid Man crashing through your emotional walls, serving up more twists than a pretzel factory run by M. Night Shyamalan. It’s a nostalgic clusterfuck of epic proportions that’ll make you laugh, cry, and possibly question your life choices
Thank you so much, and you're right. I should have. There were a few I left out just for time. I have to get better about making these things shorter... it's the same way with my writing, always long. - Greg
55:41 Another detail I never realized is that Reaper has white horses... as in death rides a pale horse... that Nick then rides into town for the shootout.😂
