Today I review Dell's 4k 144hz gaming monitor. Is it worth the high price or should you wait?

Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! It’s $600 now and think about using this for work (MS Office) and gaming also.
Did you get it?
@@elmalloc No, I got the LG Ultragear :) Same specs but LG had better customer reviews for service/product reliability overall than Dell.
Just want to say that i got this monitor and it is perfect. Has both FreeSync and GSync support, backlight bleed dont exist, has 144Hz, 2 HDMI 2.1 and Display Port. Amazing monitor.
Other monitors are total scam.
Really recommend getting one. Perfect for the eyes.
I suppose you don't have any complating about ghosting then? Apparently the G3223D doesn't have any so I don't expect its 4K version having any, but you never know
No USB-C ??
@@Bizzarti It has with mouser cursor on desktop and it's very fast.
But i had that with TV before so i don't see that being an issue.
I tested in games and Hz is very responsive. It has less blur when i move left-right fast as possible.
Oh and once can be heard some electrical noise for like 10-12 seconds then be gone for the rest of the day.
Sometime happens every 2nd day or everyday.
It's normal and has no effects.
@@addtyu6176 I don't know what that means, but it has USB ports below.
Plus can use speakers instead of directly being in PC.
It doesn't have USB-C only USB-A for a 2 port hub on the monitor. The monitor doesn't have speakers but you can pass through audio via HDMI to a speaker port on the monitor. (You will need a headphones or external speakers for sound)
I just got this, and my monitor says it supports hdmi 2.0, and pc/tower recommendations that go with this? Specifically for fps games.
Great review. Now that you have been using the monitor for a few months are you still enjoying it. I don't game, I am looking for an office monitor but I work in marketing so I do graphic design and photo editing. What I really liked about this monitor is the color accuracy. There are not many 32" 4K (with IPS panel) monitors available. I am pretty sure my laptop can only output 60Hz so the extra refresh is not important to me. Just looking for your overall feedback on the monitor and if you have any other suggestions, for a creator monitor. Thanks
LOVE dell computer like desktop at home an always Buy XPS, last for looong time ...BUT comes to their Monitors usually buys them under $1000 32" none of them have that Ture 4K looks & the POP colors even in HDR , even in this one
Does this still have the image retention issue?
Nice video! Do you have any settings recommended for SDR gaming?
Thanks. Please subscribe for more videos. Every setup and room lighting is different so it is tough to recommend a certain setting. I use factory setting and the picture quality is amazing.
@@javatheboxer Will do and thank you for the reply!
Have you game hdr enabled or display600?
How are some of the popular AAA titles performing on your setup? I'm also having a 3070Ti gcard and considering on getting this monitor. TIA.
Sure, what games do you want me to demo on it? Subscribe to my channel and you can get the video when I release it.
Hello mate nice review, do you believe I can play on this monitor with my humble gtx 1060 6gb ? (Not on 4k of course)
But a 1080p with 144hz( as I’m doing with my aoc 24” normally so long). Thanks 😊
no need to upgrade if you don't plan on utilizing the higher resolutions (1440, 2160). 1080 will look worse on this monitor than on your old AOC. If you go for this monitor, I would consider making large improvements to your hardware.
I agree! If you are not going to utilize the 144hz or 1440p+ resolution, I would get a cheaper monitor. There are some great 1080p monitors out there that won't break the bank!
I already got this monitor, pretty good for that price,i will recommend this monitor
Yeah for under $700 it is a great monitor.
Could you tell if it contains full bandwidth ports and Ycbr 444 or 422 on PS5 ?
@@ismaelberrocalgarcia8387 Limited
dude it's $599 now I'm going to get it
@@albertfreeze7129 where is it 599?
Great review!
Does it have imnage retention?
Mine doesn't and I've had it for 9 months. But if you do get it, it goes away.
hi I have a question, I have a 2080ti. It does not have hdmi 2.1, but does have dp1.4. so i should still be able to take advantage of 4k@144, correct? I'm reading conflicting information online and I'm just trying to be certain before I purchase. I've read that DP 1.4 caps out at 4k, 120hz.
Yea, dp 1.4 is the way to go
@@reynaldykwok6954 thank you, I already have my new monitor and absolutely love it so far. It was quite an upgrade for me.
How do you turn HDR off
Can you tell us the graphics card you are using for this 4K display? I have a 3070, and do not play demanding games which really makes me consider buying one instead of 1440p panel.
I have a 3070ti. I am able to play 4k games on it without any issue. I don't play a lot of demanding games either, most of my games are old and 4k is fine with max setting (Witcher 3, NBA 2k, PUBG)
@@javatheboxer that’s great! I plan to do the exact same thing, dlss is great for some of the optimized titles, and I mostly play a couple of old ones too, I think it will cover my needs. Thanks for the reply, really helpful!
Same. I don’t play new/AAA and will probably play older games at 1080p which scales perfectly to a 4K monitor, unlike 1440p.
I'm an office work person that hates 60hz. Why do people keep suggesting 60hz for programmers? I'm constantly reading/scrolling while coding, 60hz is a headache inducer.
I got 2 of these over lg 32inch ergo for the high refresh rate since i mainly only use a monitor for work and shows... Since its a long term investment i decided to get a high refresh rate monitor. Hope it's good, i had to return a lenovo y32p-30 earlier since the screen just looked too yellow when received
Will it be compatible with macbook as an external display ? I have macbook pro 14 and its 120hz, so i wanted to get an external display that also supports more than 120hz cause i got used to the smoothness already. Will it support that feature with macbook ? and also what cables i will need to use with macbook to get the full experience ? THanks in advance
Mine arrives tomorrow I will let you know
@@matteuklol thank you ) i will wait for an update from you sir🤝
this one is AUD490 on EOFY sale at the moment here in australia. great deal if you aren't looking for HDR like i am.
This or Alienware QD oled 34DW for $1100?
@@zacthegamer6145 this oled has burn ins. If you're not afraid then it's a newer tech, but with caveats of unpredictability
Can the monitor display 21:9 3840x1600 properly (with black bars above and below)? Thanks.
Most likely? Though why are you looking at 16:9 monitors for a 21:9 resolution.
@@waddoo1234 In some games, setting a 21:9 resolution gives a bigger fov than 16:9, regardless the resolution. It will also be less taxing on the gpu, and might be more cinematic or immersive. At the same time, I can also use 16:9 for everyday web browsing and the rest of the games.
I didn't see the setting in Windows and when I enable 3840x 1600 in a game it stretch out the image
just bought it today, after discount really good price
where did you pick it up from and for how much? hard to find this one on sale
@@The-Sentinel dell official website from malaysia have promo like 599 usd only
wow, that is a great deal for the monitor. Great find!
Deos it have image retention?
@@Palalal5984 no
should I get this over there dell U3223QE I can't decide!
U3223QE has 400 brightness vs 600 in this one, also U3223QE has only 60 hz rfefresh rate. U3223QE has 98% dci-p3 color gamut, whereas this one has 95%
Some people are saying the colours look very washed out. It that true?
Not at all. Colors are amazing on this monitor. Great for graphic designers.
Hello there, excellent video! I just wanted to know if what Dell says is correct about this monitor. The HDMI 2.1 ports on this monitor are only at 24Gbps and not the full 48Gbps, and dell says this monitor can do the full 4K@144hz with 4:4:4 colours with DSC without chroma sub sampling? Is this true?
I just bought it refurbished, and I read the same thing, but I heard it impacts consoles not PCs only
dell support says it 48gbps
Can you do 120hz 4K with a ps5 on this monitor
Yes
Do you know if this monitor support pip and pbp ?
It does
PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
Can i turn brightness all the way down?
No, brightness won't go all the way down. Subscribe to my channel and I will post a follow up video answer all the questions in the comments with a video response.
Would you recommend this monitor to use for my ps5?
It is a great monitor for PS5 but why not use a normal TV?
@@javatheboxer I was playing on a 77 inch OLED in the living room. Kinda pissing off the wife lol
Image retention or burn in?
Serious? For an IPS? Common!
Honestly, not much of a review. But showing those pictures on the screen of that Dell G3223Q 32" 4k - oh that is mesmerizing good screen quality for an IPS screen...
Got mine hooked on a nice 4080. Great monitor.
Hello, please works on this monitor Gsyng on 144hz, HDR on with 4:4:4 colours? Thank you. You need DP or enough HDMI 2.1?
Yo I am planning to buy RTX 4080 next week and when I have the money I will 100% buy this monitor...How is the experience with this combo? Be honest. Thank u for ur time
@@deimosok2003 yes bro i will be honest. this card is amazing, about 50 fps with 4k gaming on cyberpunk with rtx on. secondly, the monitor itself is very nice. the colors are not as vibrant as i usually like, its a little flushed out, but overall its an amazing monitor with great refresh rate. i think the two work together well. good luck.,
Is the Dell SE3223Q 31.5-inch Monitor - 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) at 60Hz, 4ms Gray-to-Gray in Extreme Mode, 1.07 Billion Colors - Black version compatible with iMac iOS Ventura ... and MBP / Monterey? Can't seem to find any info anywhere including the Dell website on this. Willing to invest in this but not if I can't use ALL of it's bells & whistles on my computers.
The monitor you are talking about the SE3223Q is Not the same monitor. It's a $299 60Hz non gaming monitor. which is all you need with a macbook. Any macbook can hook to ANY monitor. it JUST a monitor. At $299 it will Not have Thunderbolt inputs so you will have to buy a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and use the HDMI ports.
the monitor in this video is a $800 GAMING monitor that is 144Hz (the macbook is not strong enough to give anything over 60Hz anyways) Don't try to game on a Mac. it's a waste of time and money.
That is correct. You can use any monitor on your Mac. You just need an adapter or a docking station.
@@mgaming7 This isn't 100% true, it depends on what type of gaming you are doing. There's a dedicated gaming reddit for macgaming anyways. I play League on my macbook pro at native resolution (which is higher than 4k) and it runs fine and well over 60fps. It's perfectly viable to look at a gaming monitor for a mac user.
@@RekariRyuusei you can use any monitor on a mac... not sure what your going on about Rekari... and not sure who asked for the life story ether...
@@mgaming7 macbooks can display the full 4K 144hz to the monitor using the appropriate dock like the Caldigit TS4 or a thunderbolt to DP 1.4 adapter
DELL AW2723DF as an alternative here
hows the backlight bleed?
Not bad at all. I use this monitor in a dark room and my browser is in dark mode so it is easy to see if there is backlight bleed.
@@javatheboxer What do you mean? I've yet to see a monitor where you can't turn down the brightness
The only thing I watched this for was HDR, only to hear this dude say he turned it off.
In general, with a 3070 TI, I feel this review is total nonsense - as AOE4 won't hit 144hz on a 3070 at 4k.
IPS PANEL, RIGHT?
That is correct!
Can i use g-sync with this monitor? I have 3080ti.
Yes you can!
www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000131820/dell-amd-freesync-monitors-that-are-nvidia-g-sync-compatible
I've cabled mine to an rtx 3090 and the HDR 600 is pretty good ngl I love it. Couldn't imagine myself ask for more on this price, I love my life
HDR has been hit or miss for me on other displays I've used but this monitor looks fantastic with every game I've tried so far. Absolutely loving it.
Hallo man, please, works Nvidia Gsync on 144hz with HDR on and 4:4:4 colours? You need Display port or enough HDMI 2.1? Thank you

Does any one have experience using of M32U and g3223q?
I know that dell has 23ms input lag when gigabyte has 12.5 when gaming at 60hz? On the other hand dell has better responsetime at maximum refreshrates so I am really confused which one to choose.
Also gigabyte has BFI and dell doesnt have.
So does anyone has idea how to decide?
I saw the M32U at Microcenter and it is a nice monitor. You can't go wrong with either of them and it is hard to compare between both of them. With that said, I am very happy with my monitor.
we have 2 firmware update after the launch now , but they will never test it again , i saw the result about you talking
colors are better on dell, and the programmable buttons on the dell are nice. but if you really need kvm then get the gigabye
@@javatheboxer by the way. What do you think if I go with lg c2 over either m32u or g3223q?
Do you think its worth it?
My only concern is gaming on ps5.
I assume you are getting the 42" OLED. If so, then go with LG. They are all great monitors/screens but when it comes to gaming, size matters :) I was thinking of the c2 but I also use my monitor for work and 42" is too big if I am sitting an arms length away. Let me know your decision and please subscribe for more of my content.
Does it come with the hdmi 2.1 cable?
Yeah. It came with a high speed HDMI and Display Port Cable
what game is that?
Age of Empire 4
which age of empire? 2?
4
Hi
Hi
Not really the game to show graphics. 🤦🏻♂️
Let me know which game I should demo and I'll create another video
Why is the monitor lagging and spiking all the time??
