Thank you for this video! I wanted windows to recognize the HDR certification on this monitor and it would not until I installed the driver. Most people recommend not installing monitor drivers and just using the driver windows installs, unless it causes issues with the monitor so I had not installed the driver. After watching this, I installed the driver and windows now shows the HDR certification in display settings. Much appreciated! I will avoid the display manager though as I'm fine with using the OSD controls and rarely need to change anything after initial setup.

Sir, I complement you on a awesome video... and to comment that of all the people who have done unboxing and assembly, your the only one who did it the way the box design allowed!. Face down in the box with all protection around it you attached the stand and "then" took it out of the box fully assembled. I have seen people do this on the edge of a sofa, the edge of a table etc, all after the protection has been removed. I'm really ho humming the purchase of this monitor to add to my UHD Samsung and Asus Pro Art set up.

Awesome video. I have 2x G3223Q monitors at 4K running on an NVidia 4090. I update the latest firmware and drivers but my 2nd monitor was running at 60 Hz and there was no option available to choose a different refresh running 4K (didn't matter the Windows menu or NVidia Control Panel) . Moving from 27" Full HD to this 32" 4k Dell monitor 2 weeks ago, connected via DP 1.4 to RTX 3090 and it's absolutely amazing, nice colours, 144hz, G-SYNC compatible, fast response time and good HDR. You can switch between some 5 or 6 modes of HDR, using Game HDR for games and Movie HDR for movies or videos and it looks perfect. For anyone wondering: this monitor is great, but if you watch a white text appearing on a black background (like it usually happens at the start of movies), the whole screen instanly will change its brightness. And it does so, depending on how much brightness you have.
SO the whole screen goes boom! Bright with text, and black, then it adjust on the fly. It really sucks, I will return it and take tv instead

Comprehensive video, and while it's a bit of common sense, I appreciate the helpful reminders on firmware, etc. Plus it was great to see PIP working. But what do you mean by burn-in being a little bit less of an issue on this display, wouldn't you say it's significantly less of an issue? It's actually the main reason I chose 4K IPS over a 1440p OLED.

    • @ioone

Thanks for watching! Earlier versions of G3223Q had some easily noticeable burn-in on them that users were reporting that were above normal expectation of an IPS monitor. Whether by firmware or newer manufacturing, that issue *may* have been resolved. But yes you are right that when compared to OLEDS the burn-in issue is probably significantly less. The monitor also has a built-in LCD conditioning feature to remove burn in when you notice it.

Yes the cable can do 4K @ 120Hz as well as 144Hz. I cannot tell you if this HDMI cable is High-speed (10.2Gbits/), Premium High-speed (18 Gbit/s) or Ultra High Speed (48 Gbit/s) as there is no meaningful labels on these cables. I have doubts that these are ultra-high speed (ex. for full HDMI 2.1 spec) since I believe DSC (compression) is used which probably allows for a lower spec HDMI cable to be included but also achieve the 4K@120/144Hz image.

The part where you are comparing "contrast" (it's not really a question of contrast, just black levels/gamma setting you're looking at there) via the Lagom black levels page...it's actually the 4k Dell that looks more or less as it should. Anything below 5 should indeed be pretty hard to distinguish from pure black (but on a good monitor that's well calibrated, you should still be able to see the appropriate box there, just very faintly). The S2721 has quite elevated black levels (at least as far as what is shown in the video is concerned, I'm sure it looks a bit different in person). Might be a misconfiguration of its gamma setting compared to the color profile it is using in Windows.

I think at 1440p you can run it at max settings with a 4080. At 4k you may not be able to to max out the settings. It is a trade off. I think 2k at max or 4k at just below max will still be really good regardless. I prefer the Dell version (over the gigabyte) because their customer service is really good in case you have something that is defective. As a side note, the LG32GQ850 is a 32" screen size running at 2k/1440p. 2k is better fitted for 27" monitors as the pixel pitch is denser. The 4K monitor should look more crisp and detailed.

The biggest difference I have seen in person is that 4K makes a huge difference when viewing text on the screen. 4K is so much sharper. Also being an IPS the dell won’t suffer from burn in like the latest 2k monitor OLEDs

      @musicbro8225 Місяць тому

@@AlaskanWonder The first 4k monitor I saw in a shop was 27inch (Dell ultrasharp) and the text looked amazing, easily the sharpest in the shop. The problem is that it's 60hz refresh, so not really suitable for gaming.
I'm not a big gamer and do mostly video and music, so Oled is not really suitable, but I do need a colour accurate monitor which is again the ultrsharp hehe, it's got a wider colour gamut than the G3223Q. It's frustrating that not many popular reviewers have reviewed this G3223q, so it's all just anecdotal or what I can see on my monitor which doesn't really tell me everything I want to know. Although I can tell that Mr ioone has a very strong blue cast on both his screens, I can tell because his skin tone looks natural but the whites on the desktop look very blue. For consoles it is sufficient, and for PC, with DSC compression, it is also sufficient for today's standards.

@@shihabhossain515 I hopped over to the popular site rtings.com and compared G3223Q and G7 S28AG70. Because G3223Q uses DSC compression (and PS5 does not), it displays color as chroma 4:2:0, the text clarity might not be as good compared to the odyssey one. You get an extra HDMI cable with the G3223Q. The G3223Q has additional Picture-by-picture which I think is more useful than just PIP. Everything else is pretty much the same. For me the 32" size is worth more than the 28" size. At 27-28" I would think the general optimal resolution is 1440p. Check warranty as well for Samsung. Dell has a really good return policy for dead pixels. Overall I would choose G3223Q based on the specs.

Just bought this monitor last week and set it up today. I noticed that when you extract the drivers (not firmware), it creates a folder on the C: drive that has 4 color management profiles - Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_HDR_v4_MHC2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_Native_v2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_sRGB_v2.icm. Now when you go to advanced display adapters and check "color management" - my default only shows 1 - Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm. What I want to know is why there are 4 profiles but only 1 is installed? Also why is it picking "Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm" by default? Is it worth adding the other profiles or just adjust stuff via the control panel/manager? I do creative work so I feel the sRGB profile might be a better fit.
Also in Advanced Display Settings, bit depth is 8 bit and color space says SDR? These can't be correct? How do I switch it to 10 bit and HDR?
I've set it to 3840x2160 and refresh rate is 143.963 (which is weird rather than have 144) but close enough so thats it.
Anyway thanks for this video Steve. You're the only person who has given the G3223Q this much love on UA-cam. No other person has reviewed/unboxed this beast or given us helpful tips like you have.

Hope you've had some success. My current profile (after auto installing the drivers) was set to Dell_G3223Q_HDR_v4_MHC2.icm. I don't have the other profiles showing up. What video card are you using? I use an AMD 6800XT and using the Adrenalin software you can go to the settings button (the gear symbol), display tab and force the color depth to 10bit (assuming the graphics card supports 10bit output). I'm assuming Nvidia should also have something similar.
As for picking DCIPS_V2 as the profile for default I'm not sure why. Perhaps the onscreen menu was set to a mode (non HDR, etc) when it was installing? Let me know how it goes.
