Her voice actress in MKD & MKA did an excellent job as scream queen of those games & what particularly got me into mileena , was her deception fatality where she rips the head off I fell in love

Example- Scorpions' hara kiri was switched with Hotaru. Hotaru rips his own spine out, a Scorpion move
I’m glad she’s thriving now in MK1; although as an MK11 Mileena specialist I will miss how her overall gameplay was similar to the original MK2 version. She was all about movement, spacing and controlling the screen with unpredictable specials. She’s high risk high reward and that made her fun to use; you get to be more candid with her base move set since not so many players stuck with her.
Honestly yeah she was so fun in 11 to me, I loved her strike throw mix and movement. And yeah bc she wasn’t the most common pick you could get away with a lot haha, but against people who knew the MU she could be very hard to win with.
@@isaiahacevedo541 it’s interesting how they switched their game play styles; now it looks like Kitana is all about spacing and strike/throw. Mileena has fast buttons and lots of combo routes; although Mileenas normals have a little more reach than Kitanas did in MK11.
She kinda is 😭 Kitana having some of her moves shows they never planned on adding her to the game until the fan outrage so her addition was kind of halfassed
Mileena has been my baby since I was too young for my parents to be comfortable playing MK. I never played MKX but I picked it up after feeling so disappointed with her in MK11 and man it’s night and day. She is still the true and rightful Kahnum Of Outworld but MK11 version wasn’t it. I still can’t believe it

My fav character since MK2. I legit once played for about ten hours straight with her at an NJ boardwalk arcade without loosing once. I almost got into so many fights with how cheap i was being lol.
MK11, in hindsight, really went out of its way to make some characters an absolute chore to play. MKX was so fast paced and fun and then they decided to correct way too much by limiting and removing way what made characters from that game fun.
It's interesting. for the last DLC cast they were pretty weirdly made and balance. They all suffer from having custom moves that should be defaults or weird restraints. Like we have Mileena on one hand with her very limited customs and weak base stat and then we have Shang Tsung who has so much viable/fun customs.
So glad to see another one of these dropped. It's always fun taking a trip back through MK history. BTW, your competitive history videos have really helped me get into and enjoy the old MK fighting videos I see posted around, now that I can better understand the actual mechanics involved.

mk 11 was so true and so sad to listen. speaking as a mileena main myself. I think devs were fed up with the toxic twitter side of mileena players and this was their revenge of putting her in game, with basically gutting her core abilities into a shadow of themselves
I've watched every single one of these religiously (and MK Meta etc) and even though I've never been interested in esports-level analysis, as a future game designer these breakdowns are just so jam packed with information it's unreal, glad to see you're back on track and excited to see what you have in store next! pls do kenshi, my weeb brain will appreciate
When it comes to her appearance I think MK11 beats them all! I mean she’s Asian(like she has always meant to be) she looks identical to Kitana and she doesn’t have those stupid lips from MKX! HOWEVER when it comes to her gameplay and voice MKX(and MK9) is far better! And her costumes were the best in UMK3 and 3d era! So the perfect Mileena would be: Karen Strassman as her voice actress with her MK11 face and some of her MKD and UMK3 costumes!
I disagree, I think design and gameplay wise Mk9 and Mkx is best She's a beast in those games when it comes to kombos in those games and her appearence is a good balance of pretty and "beastly"
MK Gold is so funny because the reason all the version-specific characters are god tier because they forgot to program the usual limitations on their special moves
I never paid attention to the lore until MK11, and I've been playing since Deadly Alliance. For some reason I gravitated toward Mileena. I thought she was hot, I liked Raphael (sais), and when I saw her unmasked I thought it was so sick 😂 I always main her and MKX wad the most fun I've ever had in any fighting game.
Great video as always, man. The quality of this series and the MK Meta series goes above and beyond. It would be a massive undertaking, but I hope we'll see Raiden in the near future. I'd be really curious to see how the Thunder God stacked up in the older titles.

I always find it funny how each character in MK Deception has a Difficulty number listed alongside the stances they use, and Mileena's difficulty number was 2 but after coming back to play the game, I was so surprised at how she's very easy to learn and only takes a bit of practice to master, in fact she's probably the easiest character in Deception imo just from how simplistic her kit is. 1 bad stance means she's not gonna use that stance at all (I always thought of Ying Yeung as the worst stance in-game just from the damage scaling alone), but even her weapon stance combos aren't too hard to remember (most of it are just 3-button strings, and if u loop them it bags the usual 20% damage from 3-hit loops)
What about the competitive history of Liu Kang? I get the impression he's never mentioned in these videos, which gives me the impression that he's always not too good to be on top nor too bad to be hilarious. Yet, I personally think that Liu Kang always had a nifty set of moves, specially on MK9.
Excellent video as always, Ketchup! I always enjoy your insight and the thoroughness of the research and work you put in. It's a genuine treat to be able to see a side of a series I've long loved, but never had the talent, execution, or consistency to really experience. I especially love this episode as Mileena is one of my all-time favorite characters, in MK as well as in general, and it's nice to see her get some love and care. Here's hoping that if/when a Mortal Kombat 12 actually surfaces she'll make the roster and get a bit of her glory and luster back.

Loved her since the debut in MKII. Speed and aggressive moveset made her tricky to fight against, plus she is crazy good if you can time her attacks right. Also liked the backstory of Kitana having an evil doppelganger.
Sad to hear about Ur equipment, but glad to know it wasn't anything health related or something more important and U guys are Ok. Always hated her gameplay (yes annoying) but liked her as a character, still you do explain why she doesn't work in MK11 sadly. Good you guys are back and always nice to hear Evil Zone and SFEx music in the background.... PS: When are the heroes coming?, time for more classic good guys like Johnny or Liu Kang to have their spotlight
I just want to say how much I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these competitive history videos. They’re such a compelling breakdown and you do such a great job providing information from each game, but also perspective on certain competitive eras that I don’t have much experience with. I would love Jax to be covered in one of these. He’s always this character that always surprises me with how good he is. He has such diversity to how he’s designed and almost every time he’s surprisingly amazing which I don’t think happens that often in mk.
First of, welcome back dude. As for Mileena in MK11, she is one of my mains too, and yeah she leans much more intro Zoning and mobility and not into much of Rushdown and Footsies, unlike in previous games where she was great in all 4 areas. So she can still do some very good work, you just have to play her in a much more specific way, but as long as you do it does work. I myself ran into Scorpion players who actually afraid to Teleport at me just because of how fast and oppressive Mileena's Sais are, no joke. Also I myself have both Air Sai and Air Tele-Kick, and yes you can't combo Air Sai after Tele-Kick, but having both options means you can catch people of guard very well. So it's not pointless at all.
Mortal Kombat deception was my first introduction to Mileena and she instantly became my favorite that teleport kick was so snatched. with the speed and the reposition and the fact that you can do it mid-air I just absolutely love her character even in the new games she's my main
For my customized Mileena, I have two variations: Variation 1 - Rolling Thunder, Air Tele-Drop, Sliding Sai Variation 2: Rolling Thunder, Air Tele-Drop, Play Time Mileena has always been my favorite character but I've never been able to properly control her so I play Sindel instead. And in MKX, I played Kitana instead. I've learned how to control Mileena in MK11 but she's not as strong as in previous games. Overall, in MK11, she's my third most played character, with Sindel at #1 and Cetrion at #2
Mileena can be described as similar to Hokuto in Street Fighter EX & Fighting Layer EX. A character who’s fairly consistently above average with good tools and good ways of doing damage yet is rarely game breaking and requires good knowledge from the player, though few might see the similarities. Also, I was one of the few that played MKG (I think Thrill Kill is better than 4 & Gold just on the grounds of it trying to be its own entity and more grizzly environment and theme) and Mileena was pretty absurd even more so with spiked club. Sektor was just ludicrous in the highest sense of the word, and she could still be seen as a good counterpick to him.
I can't remember if it was Deception or Deadly Alliance but I had my youngest Daughter play me and she just loved the way Mileena looked. She just kept pressing 1 button if I remember right it was a high kick and no matter what I tried, I could not overcome it, it just overwrote anything I tried. I got so sick of her turbo spamming that button that I insisted she press other things too, how do you think that went with a little girl? 🤣 It was DEFF. Deception, that damn High Kick...

MK11 did her so dirty how does a character go from top tier in MKX with 2 out of your 3 variations to a flop in MK11, I was excited to see her in but I can't get over the fact how much more work I have to put in just to get substantial damage when I can just use Jacqui or Joker and put in half the effort to break 35%, but she's still in the game so that's a win in my book✨️
MKX Mileena is such a fun character to lab stuff out for. She felt so right to play in that game, piercing in particular was a monster.
Mileena was my 2nd main after Scorpion in X. Her piercing variation was ridiculous fun.

I always loved how Mileena moved. She has so many mixups compared to most of the cast.
I feel like Mileena feels unfinished in MK11 I honestly think NRS just buckled under the pressure for her and just quickly chucked her together.

It's a genuine treat to be able to see a side of a series I've long loved, but never had the talent, execution, or consistency to really experience. I especially love this episode as Mileena is one of my all-time favorite characters, in MK as well as in general, and it's nice to see her get some love and care. Here's hoping that if/when a Mortal Kombat 12 actually surfaces she'll make the roster and get a bit of her glory and luster back.

Would love to see a video on Mortal kombat outworld by Blackcyraxco. its a fanmade mk mugen thats entirely original. Sadly, he tragically passed away years back and it was never completed. I highly suggest checking out his work, probably the best MK fangame if it was finished. RIP Blackcyraxco, I'll never forget your effort

Loved her since the debut in MKII.
Speed and aggressive moveset made her tricky to fight against, plus she is crazy good if you can time her attacks right.
Also liked the backstory of Kitana having an evil doppelganger.
Sad to hear about Ur equipment, but glad to know it wasn't anything health related or something more important and U guys are Ok. Always hated her gameplay (yes annoying) but liked her as a character, still you do explain why she doesn't work in MK11 sadly. Good you guys are back and always nice to hear Evil Zone and SFEx music in the background....
PS: When are the heroes coming?, time for more classic good guys like Johnny or Liu Kang to have their spotlight

I just want to say how much I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these competitive history videos. They’re such a compelling breakdown and you do such a great job providing information from each game, but also perspective on certain competitive eras that I don’t have much experience with. I would love Jax to be covered in one of these. He’s always this character that always surprises me with how good he is. He has such diversity to how he’s designed and almost every time he’s surprisingly amazing which I don’t think happens that often in mk.

She feels really good in MK11, her X moveset I didn't care for but it was her design character design.
First of, welcome back dude. As for Mileena in MK11, she is one of my mains too, and yeah she leans much more intro Zoning and mobility and not into much of Rushdown and Footsies, unlike in previous games where she was great in all 4 areas. So she can still do some very good work, you just have to play her in a much more specific way, but as long as you do it does work. I myself ran into Scorpion players who actually afraid to Teleport at me just because of how fast and oppressive Mileena's Sais are, no joke. Also I myself have both Air Sai and Air Tele-Kick, and yes you can't combo Air Sai after Tele-Kick, but having both options means you can catch people of guard very well. So it's not pointless at all.

Mortal Kombat deception was my first introduction to Mileena and she instantly became my favorite that teleport kick was so snatched. with the speed and the reposition and the fact that you can do it mid-air I just absolutely love her character even in the new games she's my main

For my customized Mileena, I have two variations:
Variation 1 - Rolling Thunder, Air Tele-Drop, Sliding Sai
Variation 2: Rolling Thunder, Air Tele-Drop, Play Time
Mileena has always been my favorite character but I've never been able to properly control her so I play Sindel instead. And in MKX, I played Kitana instead. I've learned how to control Mileena in MK11 but she's not as strong as in previous games.
Overall, in MK11, she's my third most played character, with Sindel at #1 and Cetrion at #2
Mileena can be described as similar to Hokuto in Street Fighter EX & Fighting Layer EX. A character who’s fairly consistently above average with good tools and good ways of doing damage yet is rarely game breaking and requires good knowledge from the player, though few might see the similarities. Also, I was one of the few that played MKG (I think Thrill Kill is better than 4 & Gold just on the grounds of it trying to be its own entity and more grizzly environment and theme) and Mileena was pretty absurd even more so with spiked club. Sektor was just ludicrous in the highest sense of the word, and she could still be seen as a good counterpick to him.

I can't remember if it was Deception or Deadly Alliance but I had my youngest Daughter play me and she just loved the way Mileena looked. She just kept pressing 1 button if I remember right it was a high kick and no matter what I tried, I could not overcome it, it just overwrote anything I tried. I got so sick of her turbo spamming that button that I insisted she press other things too, how do you think that went with a little girl? 🤣 It was DEFF. Deception, that damn High Kick...

MK11 did her so dirty how does a character go from top tier in MKX with 2 out of your 3 variations to a flop in MK11, I was excited to see her in but I can't get over the fact how much more work I have to put in just to get substantial damage when I can just use Jacqui or Joker and put in half the effort to break 35%, but she's still in the game so that's a win in my book✨️
