    The soft curl perm is one of my favorite skills! The hardest part is the retouch! This can be accomplished by doing a cushion wrap or by doing the root perm skill. The reason why many complain about shedding is overlap. Apply conditioner or silicone on the old hair (get a friend to help) and only apply step one and 2 on the regrowth.

    I am two weeks in with my wave nouveau. There was a lot of shedding from by the second day. One thing I learned for my hair was not to comb it so often. I feel a lot better now but we'll see how it goes. Thanks for all of your videos. It really helped me understand the shedding issue.

      I still don't understand the shedding. And it seems that my hair is shedding more than ever. But the funny thing is, my hair has grown like crazy. I did get a touch-up & my touch up came out better than my very first perm. I'm still loving my hair, just not the shedding. 😪 I am thinking maybe I'm not drinking enough water. Do I need stronger hair pills? Do I needs some iron. I just don't know. 🤷‍♀️ But like I said, I still love my hair, it's just the shedding. I do not have a Wave Nouveau, I have a Design Essential curly perm. Like I said before I love it better than the Wave Nouveau. I'm trying to think back to what I was doing in my teens & the 20s when I had a curl & never experience any shedding. As long as I can, I am going to figure out this shedding thing. I wish there was a forum that we can go to that addresses this issue and can truly help. This is my 5 math I do believe with having a curly perm, let's see if I can make it to a year.

      I been doing this service for over thirty years when it first came out. This is not what a wave nouveau looks like. I don’t know who did your hair but they don’t know what they are doing. If you are not applying you finishing lotion on the scalp and hair every two days you will experience your scalp itching and hair shedding. You should be getting it done every three months not every six months. Most of the stylists have not took the classes of wave nouveau so they try to do them like carefree curl. They are putting people under the dryer and this product is not made for the dryer.

      Don’t t straighten it. Try low manipulation don’t comb or brush too often, use a wide detangler, don’t use a denman or small bristle brush. Do keep it moisturized. It doesn’t have to be wet like a jeri curl, but frequently oiled and conditioned. Wait as long as possible to shampoo after getting it done. The smell sucks but worth it. Anytime you apply heat always use heat protectant even if blow drying.

      So true! The key to gentle with the hair that is because it takes about 3 days after a chemical service for the hair to set. This is just a perm for already hair. Following up with products like acidic shampoo and acidic hair products help. Soma is a good brand for curly hair because the pH is on the bottle.

    • @VincentBalducci
      @VincentBalducci 2 роки тому +2

      @@msfloyd9810 it could be many things. I tell my clients always see a doctor if the shedding is concerning to rule out medical stuff. In addition make sure shampoos and styling products are acidic and have the pH on the bottle. During touch ups never overlap on old hair. For vitamins Mediceuticals can help a lot.

    Hey lady, I just wanted to speak on the Wave Noveau. I tried a thing with the Wave Noveau. It probably hasn’t been done before or I never saw any videos on anyone doing this process.....call me a dare devil. I researched the brand and I did an experiment on a test piece of my hair. I concluded this: why does one have to use the step 1 to get your hair straight and then totally redefine and make new curls when you can enhance the curls your already have. I am trying my own technique. It doesn’t look like a Jheri curl. Also my hair does not look or feel like hair after a texturizer from a relaxer ( I tried that back in 2009 and hated it. Hair would tangle and strands would be a lot of different textures. I had lots of breakage) My curls are literally softer, looser, still thick, with way less maintenance. I will have to give it about 3 months to really see how it’s doing, but so far no complaints. Just a disclaimer, I’m not saying for anyone to do this, I just wanted to experiment and was curious. I did buy all the tools and supplies to apply it to my hair safely, but I did do it myself. Again I don’t recommend anyone else to do this, I was natural for 7 years and I wanted to try something new. I don’t know how I came up with this idea and that I struck up the nerves to actually do it, but the deed is done.

      @@REMGEMS144 I don’t think I can post a picture in the comments and I don’t do any videos or pictures on UA-cam however If you give me your info I don’t mind sending you pictures. I do feel that with any new hair products you have to give it 3-6 months to really speak on the results. So far my hair shedding is minimal. I rock my Afro sometimes as well as throw some hair gel on my hair with a good leave in conditioner because some hair gels can be harsh. Washing is still a breeze and I feel when my new growth comes in it will mix very well with the processed hair still.

      @@venustillmon this is really interesting. I’ve had the wave nouveau for some years and I always wanted to try skipping step1. However, I liked the fact that the WN reduced my volume and I am afraid that wouldn’t be effective in this regard if I skipped the first phase. Is the result like a more defined afro or did it reduce your volume too? I’d love to ask you more questions and see the results.

    • @venustillmon
      @venustillmon 3 роки тому +3

      @@sanjallyjobarteh2189 I found that the Wave nouveau chemical mix did not work that well over time and I did not leave it on that long ( just the normal 15 minutes.) It just kind of reverted back over time and yes it did define my curves at first. My hair was still easy for the washing phase but I found my hair was not as soft. I have lots of volume still, but it was easier to manage and cut down time. For me I like the volume that is why I don’t want to do the initial straighten phase. With the WN It was only really soft when I did a protein treatment. That’s why you have to give it some time to see the full results. I did end up buying a different chemical the Wave Xavie and the Liscio brand conditioner protector. So I experimenting with that on test pieces. So far I am liking that better than the Wave nouveau. The hair initially started off soft and continues to be soft, no protein added. It smells better than the wave nouveau. ( It was my on mix I made up) Those chemicals are harder to come by if you are not a cosmetologist, so I am working with what I can get within reason and keeping safety in mind.

      Moisture is key. I see a lot of woman blow drying and wearing their hair like they did prior to getting the perm. That is one of the main reasons for the breakage. If u want to wear the hair blown out for a long period of time DO NOT PERM YOUR HAIR. it’s that simple. JS
