We all dream of having bigger workshops, but this guy built this piece without moving more than three feet from his vice. It's pretty humbling and is an amazing standard that he's set.
You know, what you are actually doing is important not only to us followers of complex and interesting pieces of art and furniture. It is also important for generations to come in that you document and demonstrate old work prosesses and skills that often were lost after the industrial revolution. My father built boats, log cabins and houses and I learned so much from him, but you are on a level that very few artisans can match. Thank you for your sharing and teaching, Mr. Epic Upcycling. No one beside you, no one above. Summer greetings from Mette in Norway:)
Apart from the mastery on display, what I like about these videos is that the tools are all normal ones, Stanley, Record, Marples etc, not modern boutique tools costing hundreds of pounds each.
This was absolutely intense. The care and thought of making something from scrap wood to a handcrafted heirloom was mesmerizing. Thank you, I was captivated all the way.
Good mornin', godfather of palettes and rusty nails... today without any nail!!! This is showin' how craftsmen worked centuries back in time... that's traditionel woodwork... and amazing to see it nearly noiseless... absolutly silent... like each of your videos: Sound of silence! Think, Simon and Garfunkel has known you much earlier!!! 😂 Your patience is allways unbelievable... step by step forward! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍🤩
This friend of mine, he works with primitive and simple carpentry tools, but he produces luxurious, wonderful and authentic pieces of art. This gives us a clear indication that it is not important to have advanced equipment to produce professional work, but what is important is in the mind that works. I think this person practices his work with love and passion, thank you My friend, I am sending you greetings from my country, Saudi Arabia.❤️🌹
extremely enjoyable to see an artisan doing his craft to see that someone can achieve all this without modern tools or electricity thank you c.noel vancouver canada
Thanks! Never expected to see anyone make such a fine-looking piece of friction-fit cabinetry! Last time I saw the techniques you used was reviewing the work done by my grandfather during World War Two rationing when nails and even glue were hard to come by.
That Sir is craftsmanship of the highest level. No Glue, No Nails, No Screws, NO POWER TOOLS. Excellent work 👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself 🇨🇦
Absolutely the best channel I’ve ever seen , the self evident love for wood is amazing he caresses every piece of timber individually and with passion ! Not to mention his skills are outstanding! Don’t change anything your formula for content is perfect and unique ! Do not fall for the narrative that so many do just for views clicks and subscribers
There is not one video of yours that doesn’t make my jaw drop. I took up woodworking during lockdown and am only tinkering really but I think I might have a go at this if you don’t mind, the failing and learning would be just amazing for the soul. You my friend are a master
This reminds me greatly of medieval chests, especially grain stores that were in every house and hovel. Though the lids weren't attached in that case, and fitted upside down on the chest to allow a clean place for bread making once you had ground your daily/weekly grain. Of course saws were luxuries and it was almost all done by hewing axe. Thank you for showing these techniques.
@@dropperknot It’s a long lost art continued by few, your blessed kind sir...Seems we belong to the same club, been doing the same things all my 90 years, breathing.😁
That little hand drill brought back memories! I can hear my grandfather's voice ..stop pressing so hard, let the drill do the work silly girl! My childhood in a sentence ! Love that you've done another amazing job! You are a fantastic craftsman and I look forward to each and every project
I loved watching that, you've got mad skills. I wish I had the skill and the patience to do that. I hope whoever buys it off you appreciates the work involved.
Showing once again why you are the best woodworking channel on UA-cam. No gimmicks, no annoying "jokes", no shortcuts. Just high quality craftsmanship. You should have 20x the amount of subs.
Love watching you work your magic. The curls of wood when you plane the wood are so satisfying, except i got a little seasick when you took us on a ride on the plane!!!!! Beautiful piece of woodwork. Makes one realise the work the colonials had when they first settled the americas and Australia and New Zealand. Thank you for sharing.
Seeing him working with the wood so relaxed and patient you realize why when God decided to come down like a human and have a job like other people, before starting teaching for love and forgiveness, He chose the profession of a carpenter.
Thanks for the idea of this and the idea to not use any power tools or screws and ECT imma give it a shot. I know I'll probably mess up and fail but I'll give it a go it's not easy at all to do what you did in that video
So it turns out there are parts of the internet people are literally unable to hate on because of how well done it is. I scrolled and scrolled didn't see a single negative comment
Bringing back the good ol' days of how things were done before power tools! Real craftsmanship right there...I love woodworking and general tinkering, but don't have the space or budget for shop tools. It's not like I'm trying to mass produce, or on any time schedule to get a project done, and I rather enjoy the finer, by hand style of making something. It reconnects me to the past that way. Really dig your work.
WOW just WOW! Your attention to detail is incredible! You never cease to amaze me. This was a treat to watch as you created this fantastic piece of art!

I love hand tool wood working. It's not often I see creators making things absent electrons. I see lots of skill, precision, and craftsmanship. Well done!. Thanks for sharing.
What an absolute pleasure watching you create this piece, I've thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. A wonderful gift to have at your finger tips. I just love the wooden chest. Regards Jan
I've always enjoyed it when you pass over the power tools and use hand tools. When I dine out, I always order something I couldn't cook at home. It's the same with UA-cam videos. I don't watch people do things that I could do, rather the things I only wish I could do. I get exited every time I see that you have uploaded a new video. Thank you for sharing these brilliant videos. 😎
Unearthing more treasured fine pieces of woodcrafting again. I like the different methods to construct and bring together the finished work as with all of them. I guess no biscuits in this one maybe some tins of beer.🍺
Quite a remarkable build, Eric. What impressed me most was the accurate drilling of the holes for the dowel pins. That is pretty hard to do, and done very well here.
I just want to say that, watching you do all the work by hand, helps me think about ways to be more efficient and creative, even with power tools. I have some injuries that don’t allow for me to be able to build things completely by hand with no power tools. So it’s a privilege to SEE it all done by hand. Thank you for sharing your skills with us all.

They said "you can't put a square peg through a round hole." He said "wanna bet!" Truly incredible craftsmanship!!
hahah, yes, just what I was thinking. bravo.
But you do drive a square peg into a round hole, the soft wood pegs in old oak building s is a good example
