As a long time woodworker, I really am in awe of your work! That wood chest is an heirloom for sure! 👍👍👏👏
Thanks very much :)
They said "you can't put a square peg through a round hole." He said "wanna bet!" Truly incredible craftsmanship!!
Even after 40 years of working with wood, I still love the sound of sharp tools cutting through the fibers :P
You know, what you are actually doing is important not only to us followers of complex and interesting pieces of art and furniture. It is also important for generations to come in that you document and demonstrate old work prosesses and skills that often were lost after the industrial revolution. My father built boats, log cabins and houses and I learned so much from him, but you are on a level that very few artisans can match. Thank you for your sharing and teaching, Mr. Epic Upcycling. No one beside you, no one above. Summer greetings from Mette in Norway:)
Thanks Mette :)
Respect 🙏
Wow, thats all I can say. Incredible, Wow again!
Do you Work for IKEA !???
Seeing him working with the wood so relaxed and patient you realize why when God decided to come down like a human and have a job like other people, before starting teaching for love and forgiveness, He chose the profession of a carpenter.
Uploading just as I’m sitting down for lunch and need something to watch? You’re a legend as always, mate.
What he said!
Thanks Sam :)

That Sir is craftsmanship of the highest level. No Glue, No Nails, No Screws, NO POWER TOOLS. Excellent work 👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself 🇨🇦
Thanks very much :)
This was absolutely intense. The care and thought of making something from scrap wood to a handcrafted heirloom was mesmerizing. Thank you, I was captivated all the way.
This friend of mine, he works with primitive and simple carpentry tools, but he produces luxurious, wonderful and authentic pieces of art. This gives us a clear indication that it is not important to have advanced equipment to produce professional work, but what is important is in the mind that works. I think this person practices his work with love and passion, thank you My friend, I am sending you greetings from my country, Saudi Arabia.❤️🌹
The art of carpentry, when people say I need this tool,or that electric tool,,just watch these videos, and learn something special, great videos keep them coming please.
There is not one video of yours that doesn’t make my jaw drop. I took up woodworking during lockdown and am only tinkering really but I think I might have a go at this if you don’t mind, the failing and learning would be just amazing for the soul. You my friend are a master
Folks, that is what’s called professional wood working, the man’s a genius. Old, Old long forgotten techniques by most cabinet makers.
I’m loving this build.
Can’t help wondering what they used before sandpaper was available.
@@davidcrocombe1322wood files and rasps.
@@davidcrocombe1322 Sharkskin!
@NBZW Not by me, my friend. I'm 90 and spent all my life doing what he is doing now.
@@dropperknot It’s a long lost art continued by few, your blessed kind sir...Seems we belong to the same club, been doing the same things all my 90 years, breathing.😁
So it turns out there are parts of the internet people are literally unable to hate on because of how well done it is. I scrolled and scrolled didn't see a single negative comment
bad comments also disappear on long videos
i guess haters have a short attention span
He loves wood shavings too much. Should change the title to "Memoirs of a Thin Wood Shaving"
Fantastic chest, I love the wooden "nails". God bless
Can I just say... Phenomenal!
Every once in a while youtube blesses me with a gem. Thank you
The authentic creak of the hinges completed it.
Keep up the good work.
Old world craftmanship right here. The lost or fading art of carpentry without the use of modern technology. Super impressed.
Absolutely marvellous. You are a rare treasure Sir.
Thanks! Never expected to see anyone make such a fine-looking piece of friction-fit cabinetry! Last time I saw the techniques you used was reviewing the work done by my grandfather during World War Two rationing when nails and even glue were hard to come by.
Thanks very much :)
"Friction fit" concerns me a bit. How does it not fall apart with changing humidity?
This is a man who actually enjoys the process. Very patient. Knows what he wants and is not in a rush to get there.
The treasure chest in sailor-pirates stories: mesmerising 😮😊
this is therapy for me...
Best thing on the Internet.
The squeek of the hinges certainly adds to the character of the chest. A great piece, thank you, once again, for sharing your work.
Thanks. The creaking hinges was a lucky bonus :)
Nothing said again and a perfect little chest at the end. Absolutely ridiculous! Love it.
That's what I call perfect craftsmanship - Awesome
Bringing back the good ol' days of how things were done before power tools! Real craftsmanship right there...I love woodworking and general tinkering, but don't have the space or budget for shop tools. It's not like I'm trying to mass produce, or on any time schedule to get a project done, and I rather enjoy the finer, by hand style of making something. It reconnects me to the past that way. Really dig your work.
a true craftsman! Always a joy watching you turn wood into something new!
Thanks for building and filming!
Wow watching this reminds me of my dad who liked you was a true craftsman. Thank-you it made my day
reminds me so much of my grandfather's work , you are wonderful, thanks so much.
That box is a thing of beauty. I feel so peaceful watching it come into being. Wonderful! Thank you for the lovely visit. 🖖📚🫖🐈⬛
Everything you make is pure awesomeness.
Thanks very much :)
when his hand tools are way better than your power tools🥲😂😂 awesome work...loving that opening and closing sound💪🖤🤟
Pure skill and craftsmanship, soul healing project for any woodworker
Awesome, this is the way a work of art is made, only hand tools and lots of knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
We need the same type of videos for other furnitures, table, desk,...
Absolutely amazing. I can't wait to build one for my grandson.👍👍
I love watching a true craftsman at work, great vid thanks.
That little hand drill brought back memories! I can hear my grandfather's voice ..stop pressing so hard, let the drill do the work silly girl! My childhood in a sentence ! Love that you've done another amazing job! You are a fantastic craftsman and I look forward to each and every project
Every time I think this is the best piece Jason made. Then he exceeds the last again! What a skill and what a joy to watch.
Beautiful! I will be watching every single one of your videos!!!
You are a true artist, congratulations.
Spectacular! A masterpiece heirloom. And those squeaky hinges, brilliant touch 😉
Showing once again why you are the best woodworking channel on UA-cam. No gimmicks, no annoying "jokes", no shortcuts. Just high quality craftsmanship. You should have 20x the amount of subs.
Thanks very much :)
I love watching a real craftsman at work.
Looks like a baby pirate chest. Love it. Thank you . 👏👏👏
One word Amazing!!!!! could watch you all day.
Thanks for making something beautiful from something so mundane. There's hope for all of us.😊
This reminds me of watching my dad work when I was a little girl. I loved watching the curly cues of wood as he use the plane. I’m 78 now. You don’t see work like this anymore.
I’m 32, making a cane with hand tools. Well trying to anyway 😂. I love the little curly wood too.
Настоящий мастер! Великолепное исполнение!
So nice to see someone doing it "properly", by which i mean no power tools, no glue and most important of all, no epoxy!
Really was a pleasure to watch
The perfect amount of "creeeeekkkk" when you open the lid. It's beautiful.
I just want to say that, watching you do all the work by hand, helps me think about ways to be more efficient and creative, even with power tools. I have some injuries that don’t allow for me to be able to build things completely by hand with no power tools. So it’s a privilege to SEE it all done by hand. Thank you for sharing your skills with us all.
I've always enjoyed it when you pass over the power tools and use hand tools. When I dine out, I always order something I couldn't cook at home. It's the same with UA-cam videos. I don't watch people do things that I could do, rather the things I only wish I could do. I get exited every time I see that you have uploaded a new video. Thank you for sharing these brilliant videos. 😎
Деревянные петли это шикарно)))
This is upcycling on a whole ‘nother level!!!
Fantastic job!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Thanks :)
As a machinist...I am in awe of woodworking at that level and talent. Cheers to you! I've never seen a dowel punch....brilliant. Thanks from B.C. (Canada)
Sir, If I EVER get to your skill level, I could die a happy man. When I read the title for this video I knew I had to save it for a time when I could watch it a couple times and back up to take notes! I have never heard of friction-fit cabinetry before today. An amazing job and great inspiration!!!
Amazing skillset and patience that can't be matched. Doing that chest with power tools would be fun, but doing this way is unequaled. Good job.
Without a fully manual electric tool, I thought the work was sensational, congratulations friend.😊
Unbelievable.
I hope it never falls into the hands of someone who is unaware of the immense skill and craftsmanship that went into this piece. It's simply amazing. A lifelong treasure.
This is how my Brother Charles (RIP❤) built things out of wood. Very strong durable & beautiful. Thank you ❤ & Blessings
You, my friend, are a true master. Just found your channel thanks to Midwest Magic Cleaning and I'm thrilled. I would love to learn how to make goods the old school way, stuff that truly lasts and looks made with heart, soul and a love for the craft.
THANK YOU FOR USING HAND TOOLS! I love the sound a #6 hand plane makes.
#6 my favourite plane :)
Liked before i've watched the video. I know it's gonna be another epic piece. 😁😊
What looks like something so simple is NOT! The intricacies you put into your projects is phenomenal! So enjoyable to watch, thank you!
i fuckin love woodworkers like this. doesnt fall for those companies releasing those tool that rob you of skills.
A real inheritance piece - one to keep through the generations to be handed down from parent to child.
*Perfection! It turned out great! Old Good School! These sounds, like in my grandfather's workshop!*
*Well done master! Respect* 👏😍
Thanks very much :)
I love all your content but going hand tools and old school is absolutely fantastic to see. You Sir are a gifted craftsman!
Thanks very much :)
this is the way i learned to work wood
Another fantastic video! I’m always excited when you post a new one. This build is really exceptional when one considers it is accomplished without the use of any type of adhesive, using only hand tools and without plans! You even made hinges!
I am so grateful to see you create another piece of work and with hand tools. My father passed on his knowledge to me and it has given me great pleasure using tools like yourself 😊
Now THIS is craftsmanship !! Awesome build.
Thanks :)
Beautiful to watch. Goes to show how much help modern tools, glues and fastenings give to speed up the process. Cannot beat handmade.
You make working with wood appear simple, but what you accomplish takes special skills. I am always in awe watching you work. Thank you for sharing with us. 🥰
great work, i did get a chuckle for you putting a square peg in a round whole lol
OH MAN THOSE BLACK DIAMONDS. THEY BELONG TO THE HEART OF HEAVEN.
What a craftsman you are!
The crisp sound of razor-sharp tools was simply amazing. Thanks for sharing the Japanese style saws in action and the chisel holder that turns a chisel into a plane. I hope you can find a pirate to buy your chest.
This is incredible!!! I didn't even know it was possible to make all-wooden hinges and fastenings. As always, I'm incredibly impressed and have a ton of respect for your work. I really admire your commitment to using scrap and pallet wood. I hope you're having a lovely June and safe from wildfires, wherever you are! :)
👏👏👏👍💪
Без станков. Высший пилотаж!👍
Nice job, looks good. But the best was watching you making everything with hand tools. That's the way it was done once upon a time.
Wow! I've watched quite a few of your videos and always been amazed but this one is on another level. Such a classic, elegant chest box and to have made it using traditional tools and techniques showcases your skill all the more. Thanks for letting us watch your work.
Wonderful! It's nice to take a break from power tools. Back to basics!
hand resawing is no joke. admiration for you
extremely enjoyable to see an artisan doing his craft to see that someone can achieve all this without modern tools or electricity thank you c.noel vancouver canada
Quite a remarkable build, Eric. What impressed me most was the accurate drilling of the holes for the dowel pins. That is pretty hard to do, and done very well here.
Amazing build. I have never seen such small wedges used in the hinges. Really great work and with no modern conveniences. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks very much :)
Fantastic. Level of skill and experience here is phenomenal. Not many woodworkers on YT that can do this without electric machinery. Thank you for your video.
Thanks :)
We all dream of having bigger workshops, but this guy built this piece without moving more than three feet from his vice. It's pretty humbling and is an amazing standard that he's set.
I am just starting to learn woodworking and you are the type of craftsman from whom I want to learn. Your work amazes me.
Thanks very much :)
Every beginner craftsman needs to study videos like these. Thank You!
Outstanding work! Shows true "craftsmanship".
The creaking of the chest got me XD Its perfect
Whatever you do, don’t take out the squeak. Inspirational work.
