Very nice, thank you. I'd offer a tip - this is so often /not/ done, unfortunarely, but it makes a build video much better: Follow the same tip as when you're presenting: "Tell them what you're going to say, say it, then tell them what you said." For a build video - especially if you're not showing plans, then; 1 show the finished item and it's operation at the start. 2 build it 3 show the finished item and operation. The steps of the build make /much/ more sense, much more easily when we already have a picture of the item in our mind and how the parts will relate.
This is an amazingly simple yet very useful idea. it works great for both Power cords, and also for Air compressor hoses as well. Thank for such a great idea to make the workshop cleaner (less obstacles on the floor.)
My favorite thing about your work is: “Woah! That’s a great idea.” “I need this”.” “Oh cool. That’s an amazing addition.” “Yup. I definitely see the utility.” “I never thought of [insert extra part]!!” “Yeah. This man is impressive and innovative” Every video. Every time. Love your work!
Just finish building my boom arm for dust collection and extension cord that reaches my entire work area. Total game changer to my work flow. No more tripping on power cords or vacuum hose. Plus I actually hook the hose up now so the shop stays so much cleaner as I work.
Haha! This is super old school, I love it - thank you! I remember a cabinet shop my dad used to moonlight in having a similar setup almost 50 years ago. I don't need this now, but have no doubt that I will one day, so thanks for the reminder! For now, I've gone far more agricultural in my carport with plastic clamps holding my extension cord onto the C-purlins. : )
Overhead power and extraction routing is definitely the way to go, I use it in my small shop and it's great. Keeps the cords out of the way and takes a lot of the hassle away. Looking forward to the new multifunction work bench build.
Your videos have become some of the content I'm most pleasantly surprised to see arrive in my notifications. I love the constant rethinking of improving space management and workflow. My "shop" doubles as an active garage, sharing space with bikes, snow removal equipment, and portable generator (plus my wife parking in there). It's great to see you back.
Your brain is something on a whole different level !!! I was just complaining about the extension chords all over my shop because everything is on wheels so I can move them around, but they don't roll so well over chords... this, this is off the chain and I think I'm going to go buy me a new extension chord and get this setup on a bigger scale because my shop is quite a bit larger than yours. The struggle is real so keep on thinking of stuff like this, thank you so much for sharing !!!
On mine, I let the cord end hang down just above head height. No need for complications, as my chopsaw, drill press etc. are plugged into their own sockets, and I just use it for portable tools at the bench. Been singing the praises of this idea for 30 years (I got the idea from an over-head crane at work).
What a snazzy idea!!! Love it!!!! My shop has 14’ ceilings so it won’t work for me there but I think it’ll be great over my work bench and in my chicken run!! ❤❤❤❤❤ great job! I love your ideas.
Nice work. I like that you used the shrink tube. You know, it's the little touches that make the difference! I think I'll use your wire method to hang pvc curtains for when I do my worst dust spewing operations.
Great idea. I use those rare earth magnets alot. Be advised if you let them slap the roof too hard while attaching they can shatter. The stronger the magnets the more brittle they become.
I was thinking the same thing. Then I thought about my garage workshop roof, and realised, a simple hook that I can move from beam to beam would also work, instead of the magnet.
I love your exceptionally brilliant design and build project! I find your videos to be very inspirational, which help me in my journey to become a better woodworker! Well-done!
Excellent. I was cursing my router last night while I was flattening a slab of laminated pallet wood. I'm going to do this before I cut the slab into a circle with the same router
I love this idea and wish I had seen it before I had the electrician put in lots of PowerPoints 🤪 but I think it could also work for shop vac hoses that drive me crazy! Just a couple of modifications and Bob’s your uncle 😁🤩
👍👍 Small suggestion, I’d use pulleys on the cable. I’ll might use the system in my shop but here in the US it’s 220/110 the cord would be 12 awg 4 wire with a box for the receptacles (220 & 110)
I am not a fan of retractable extension reels as people tend not to roll them out fully creating a fire risk. I have seen ideas like yours and they are a great solution. I used curtain rails as my extension lead runners, much as you have done with the steel cable and works a treat. I only have to replace broken runners as they are plastic. That cable solution is a good idea and no plastic except cable ties. Hanks for sharing these ideas.
Good idea! I think I am going to use it on an outside metal covered shed I have. I think I might even incorporate it with a small air hose. If I may, I am not sure if you used that one, but I have had a very bad "luck" with plastic-covered stainless wired. They rate them as high strength as the bare stainless wires, but I have had them fail MUCH more often. Actually, I have never had a non-plastic covered wire fail, and I have completely switched to bare wire. FYI...
Another Great, Functional and cost effective upgrade H. Love the idea and getting the cables off the floor is always a win! Only issue i foresee is that Bungee elastic giving out. Still loving the content man and great to see u back in full form man!
Practical idea. I'd upgrade the size of your extension cord though. That's a lot of amperage to run through that small cable & with it up at the top of your shop next to the metal roof it's going to be preheated already.
Very nice - I've been thinking of something similar. Thankfully I have a 4-way outlet in the ceiling of my garage, so I could set up a cable system like yours for moving a cord around, which would be nice to have.
Great upgrade! I paid quite a bit of $$$ for a retractable power reel... and it's not quite as useful as your solution, as it stays mounted at a fixed point on the ceiling. I like how yours can move around without stretching a cable across the ground. Great job!
I would consider using 3mm dyneema line instead of steel cable for the overhead line because it wouldn't vibrate and produce a high-pitched sound when you slide the carabiners over the line. You can get 20 meters for less than $20 USD, and you can still tension it with a turnbuckle. It would also create less wear on your carabiners.

OMG this is what i need, just when i need it!
i'm thinking of doing something similar with dust collector hose as well.
Me too!!
Me 3
me 4
Well, you know us woodworkers! convenient, cheap, and out of the way when not in use! 9 out of 10!!!I KUDOS!
You are the most pragmatic man on UA-cam and every one of your videos just fills me with ideas.
Your extremely clever. Thanks for the video. Hope you are well and the family is doing great.
Great idea, cheap, strong, and works a treat! Genius..

Brillianrt! So simple but effective. You are just an inspiration. Thank you for sharing all your ideas with us.

As always, this Genius man, has shown us another great thing that we can use too. Thank you, and we❤You!!!
Brilliant, Jean! Fantastic work! 😃

Can’t wait for the updated version of the all in one bench. I think yours was the best one on you tube!
GREAT project Jon. Simple effective AND affordable! !! !!!

simple but also inspired!!! thank you very much for sharing!
My favorite project so far, "so simple" but I could never of thought about it.
I'm blown away by how simple and effective your solution is
As always, brilliant shopmade solutions!
Great idea. Nice work.
That's is a nifty , simple and clever idea
What a snazzy idea!!! Love it!!!! My shop has 14’ ceilings so it won’t work for me there but I think it’ll be great over my work bench and in my chicken run!! ❤❤❤❤❤ great job! I love your ideas.
Great job! Bravo! I love short, sweat, and unique solutions to issues. Keep it up.
I love your inspired, cost-effective solutions for a small shop. Thank you for sharing with us.😂
You have so many fantastic and wonderful ideas. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
I have multiple hanging power points I diy’d in my shop but this is so cool! Awesome work
Nice work. I like that you used the shrink tube. You know, it's the little touches that make the difference! I think I'll use your wire method to hang pvc curtains for when I do my worst dust spewing operations.
Great idea Jon. Looking forward to the rebrand.
Great idea.
I use those rare earth magnets alot.

I love your inventions! It's been great watching your videos over the years and your shop is so cool!
Now I wish I had a steel ceiling in my garage!
Awesome.
I was thinking the same thing. Then I thought about my garage workshop roof, and realised, a simple hook that I can move from beam to beam would also work, instead of the magnet.
Great idea for the workshop, no more trailing cables on the floor, problem solved. Great video take care, all the best from Wrexham WALES
Really good idea. Thanks for posting. Great editing too. Shows just enough of what you're doing. Nice job.
Brilliant simple and functional. Thank you
Brilliant !! Great and unique idea that you made work. I'm impressed. as usual. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant! Easy! Practical!
Simple but effective as always.
This was very clever! I can use this for power and a second run for compressed air.
Absolutely fantastic idea
Absolutely brilliant
Nice work !!!
I love your exceptionally brilliant design and build project!
I find your videos to be very inspirational, which help me in my journey to become a better woodworker!
Well-done!
Clever idea at a reasonable price. One idea for improvement to fit a double plug to the end of your extension so you can run two corded devices.
oh, i so need this.... thanks a lot! Your channel is great for my garage :)
Excellent. I was cursing my router last night while I was flattening a slab of laminated pallet wood. I'm going to do this before I cut the slab into a circle with the same router

As usual, this is very cleaver !
Nicely done 👍
Bonsoir de Normandie,c'est exactement ce dont j'ai besoin, alors merci beaucoup

I hate steel roofs…..now I wish I had one lol. Nice work!
Another great idea and is easily put together. Thanks.
Terrific sir!
Thank you this will be useful in my work shop many thanks
Nice!
that was genius 👏
Congratulations to you 🎉🎉
Smart and practical.

You have really good ideas!
Awesome

Very clever!
Great job. Thank you!
Ingenious.
I heard the sound of Darth Vader in his space craft when you slid the hose across the tight wire on the carabiners! 😅🤣😂
But I love the original logo. Anyway, sure whatever you end up with will be awesome. Thanks for the video.
Smart.
This guy is the Einstein of practical and useful innovation. A true working man's savant
Genius!!
simple is good!
Genius.

Very good 😮 Top job 🎉🎉
I like your current logo. Just my unsolicited opinion. 😉
Very nice
That was freakin smart. wow
Goed gedoen Dankie !
You could also dumb-weight the carabiner nearest the magnetic stand to make it want to pull back to collapsed? Cool build.
brilliant

Doing an "over-under cable wrap" for the cord coil will mitigate the twist much more too
