The crank walk and cracked manifold were your fault. So were the popped couplers. You gotta upgrade when pushing more boost and laying on the throttle CONSTANTLY.
Crank walk is caused by bad engine building. A tiny percentage of 7 bolt cars crank walk. Very, very few 6 bolts. It's really not a thing. LS engines have just as many thrust bearing issues as 4g6x engines.

When working with brakes if you want to stop the fluid from leaking out, use a brake pedal depressor to hold the brake pedal down and the brake fluid will not constantly leak out. You’ll of course get some fluid initially leaking, but it’ll stop. I used to do it all the time when messing with the brake system on various types of vehicles.
I use the ghetto plastic bottle and fuel line method. But I'm definitely going to search up brake pedal depressors. I like Alex's vacuum method, though.
@@Dwigt_Rortugal I meant when swapping brake hoses, calipers or anything like that where there the brake fluid is going to constantly leak out, you can stop most of that from happening by depressing the brake pedal while working on the system. While bleeding the vacuum bleeder does work well, but I’ve found a good pressure bleeder works better.
30:00 having done a BBK similar to this. The holes in the rotors are larger than the studs so there is a gap & play, meaning the rotor will slam into the stud, then start braking. I'd suggest finding a small enough diameter metal tube that fits over the new stud & between the rotor then cutting them to fit the gap. For the kit I did 1320 Performance actually sold a "limited" run of stainless-steel inserts.
I've been super excited for this update! Especially considering Japanese cars aren't generally in his wheel house! And my two favorite cars as a teen were the Trans Am WS6 and Eclipse GSX.
I've always wanted one of these. My buddy had a 12 second talon back in the day that sounded like boat at idle. He had to launch in second gear because in first gear it would just spin all four tires and he almost side stepped into a mustang he was racing from a launch. They pull so nice. I saw another guy roll onto the highway once in 2nd and it bounced on all four corners, squatted and then blasted off. Good memories of the 90s glory days of street racing.
Alex, as an engineering QA/QC person, I know from many years experience, thread failures, and tests, that ALL threads should be very clean and lightly lubricated - i.e. enough to remove dry friction from the thread surface. The torque you apply to a stud or bolt is intended to extend the stud/bolt within it's elastic limit, and apply longitudinal pressure to the mating surfaces. If the threads are dry, or even lightly contaminated with corrosion or dust etc., it will affect the accuracy of the torque you apply. Another issue with dry/dirty/corroded threads is the creation of micro-stress cracking over time. Both issues can cause either under-tightening or rupture of the thread. The reason that this is not a very frequent failure issue, is because the threads, bolts and studs are typically over-designed to account for poor use (mainly over-tightening of corroded wheel bolt/stud threads). But there are limits. Better safe than sorry.
@@glynnepritchard2526 If threads can work loose they are either not correctly torqued, or in need of a locking mechanism. I am not suggesting the use of special low-friction lubricants, just a few drops of light machine oil. Whenever I visit a tyre shop, I see many cases of bone-dry & corroded nuts/bolts & studs on cars/vans, being removed/refitted using unregulated airguns. And if they use a torque wrench they sometimes go way past the 'stop' indicator. It works until it fails.
@@glynnepritchard2526 Nothing personal, but I have come across enough errors - material/assembly failures, leaks, highly detailed connector analyses, in-depth RCA's, plus too many non-validated designs - to rely more on 5 decades of my own international experience in a wide variety of engineering companies and applications. Manufacturing QA/QC personnel are indeed normally in a 'captured' situation (e.g. Boeing ?), but not all QA/QC activity is limited by directives from engineering.

51:45 Yes I am of the same mind set. I put a set of smaller type turbos on my car instead of a huge big boy and I am SO glad I did that. The low down torque is SO MUCH FUN! I think Jay Leno always says "All the fun is between 10 and 120" or something very close to that. Who drives around at speeds over that much of the time and if you are it's not for long. It's just bragging rights. And I don't care about top speed I like the PULL from DOWN LOW!
I worked at MMSA (Mitsubishi Motors Sales America) from 96 to 97. It's funny looking at this engine. The front of the engine is on the drivers side as all FWD Mits had until the 97 model year. The Mirage as I remember was the first car that the engine was flipped and the front of the engine was on the passenger side. I asked engineers why they did that and I was told it makes it quieter for the driver with all the belts and pulleys on the passenger side. I am sure there is a more engineering answer though. You mentioned the different impedience injectors on Turbo and Non-Turbo engines. Remember that all turbos were a 2.0L Mitsubishi Engine. The Non Turbo was a 2.0L Dodge engine used also in the Dodge Neon. Mits had so many warranty problems with the Dodge engine. I remember when they introduced the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse and all models used a Mitsubishi Made engine all the employees cheered.
The car is looking incredible! Amazing work!! I was worried about the fuel filter on my 2G when I went to e85, so I replaced it with a radium filter with the stainless 10 micron filter element. There's also the fuel siphon line that runs to the driver's side fuel sender that you can replace with gates barricade fuel line. I think that stuff is e85 safe. I may have missed it if you already did that though! Thank you for the great content!
Alex loving this build so far! Can’t wait to see the updated bumpers on and everything painted. I say just leave the V logos on the brakes lol. I had CTS-V brakes front and rear on my G8 and I just left the logos.
for the purist if you wanted to do a factory big brake upgrade using OEM parts. Using the knuckle from a JDM Galant you can then bolt on the evo 7-8-9 calipers.
I wire wheeled all four wheel wells in my 97 GST that I all wheel drive swapped. Did this to remove the undercoating. Then coated them with por-15. Car lost around 150 lbs in weight. Also ran EVO 8 stock wheels.
The V looks good on the calipers :) love this car it's beautiful! Alex is informative and entertaining as usual, thank you for brightening up my weekend!
Wheel and tire combo is on point. I too like the V on the calipers, I'd leave it on. But I think the ultimate would be to paint over the V and put the Legit Street Cars logo (bottom half woth LSC) on all 4 calipers. It would look so perfect with the silver color.
Guys don't forget to blow the fuel lines out with compressed air not clear them from debris created when cutting the line so it don't end up in your filter or your injectors
When you go to paint that eclipse, it NEEDS to go silver. That caddy silver to match the calipers. With the grey wheels, and the calipers offsetting it, not to mention the grey lower ground effects to match the wheels, it would look AMAZING. Not to mention silver is such a clean elegant color.
Love to see all the upgrades across all the vehicles. After spending a decade in the auto shop I feel bad for you dealing with the s65. Can’t wait for the next video
Alex, you could do the mildest road course camber on the front and it would look perfect. As long as you set the toe to 0 you won't have any wear issues due to the added camber.
Hi Alex ! The Car, the Caliper came from had them on the rear side of the wheel. you put them on the front side. as they have differen sized pistons you have to change sides. so left one on the right side a right one on the left side. otherwise the caliper will not work properly on high load and you will get uneven brakepad wear... hope you read this.
Back in the day you could get a fuel rail adapter that let you put the aftermarket fuel pressure regulator in the stock position. I used one on my 3.5L TT stealth and it looked great
I can’t work on cars anymore due to health reasons but I found a way to get my fix from this channel. Excellent choice on the wheels, those are perfect for that car.
My only complaint about the Rims- I feel like they should be an Inch or maybe even 2 larger and maybe powder coat them black or coat them in black chrome. They still look great though! I do kinda prefer the opposite- paint the Car anything other than White, then powder coat the rims/calipers in white (white would be the accent rather than the primary color). I've got a 3000gt that I'm going to be doing up that way- either gun-metal or smoke gray- very dark as glossy as possible to bring out those beautiful curves on the 3000gt, with White 17-19 inch Rims and lowered just enough so that the wheels and the wheel wells line up well. I don't know that I'll be modifying it much beyond that though- maybe a Carbon Fiber Hood since the stock is so heavy, but nothing fancy- just a replica that's much lighter.
LEAVE THE V// !! Just shows the diligence that went into the build; I love it. I'd get the skirts color matched also...but that's just me! Can't wait to see it on the AWD dyno!! Loved these cars as a kid! You're living the dream, Alex!!

Best car show online and on tv, can’t wait for Saturday every week to sit down and watch some LSC’s
Where's peter ma boi :(
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for DSM's!
Alex, your passion and excitement for these cars are absolutely infectious. It's like being around someone who has a laugh that makes you laugh.
You make projects look so easy….the sign of a true mechanical engineer! Your skill set is second to none👍👍👍👍 totally impressed with every episode😁
I love that everything to take apart, you clean up before you put it back together
I’m so glad you went with the newer body kit 👌
Same! that updated kit with maybe a subtle aftermarket front lip would loo so good.
The car looks great.... cant wait to see it painted and completely sorted out.
Hands down my favorite UA-cam channel, most of the builds are achievable for us regulars lol, Alex is the DIY GOAT! 🐐
Alex loving this build so far! Can’t wait to see the updated bumpers on and everything painted. I say just leave the V logos on the brakes lol. I had CTS-V brakes front and rear on my G8 and I just left the logos.
I'm digging these videos. These were new when I first got my license. Youngsters might not know how cool these were back in the day
for the purist if you wanted to do a factory big brake upgrade using OEM parts. Using the knuckle from a JDM Galant you can then bolt on the evo 7-8-9 calipers.
That wheel fitment is perfect 👌. Agreed that it could use a tiny spacer in the rear. I don’t even think you need to lower the front anymore.
Love this series, good to see more DSM content all around youtube
So satisfying seeing an old school car get these really cool parts which aren't overkill.
Guys don't forget to blow the fuel lines out with compressed air not clear them from debris created when cutting the line so it don't end up in your filter or your injectors
Love these kind of old builds!!! Keep em coming ❤
Crazy when I first saw you put the wheel on I said it has way too much poke to get to tuck, but it worked good job looks great
For such a mild & ordinary car that little beast is scrubing up really well, another enjoyable video, cheers.
I’m so happy you’re doing a GSX!!! I used to have a 99’ gsx. Beautiful car!
Love to see all the upgrades across all the vehicles. After spending a decade in the auto shop I feel bad for you dealing with the s65. Can’t wait for the next video
Alex, you could do the mildest road course camber on the front and it would look perfect.
As long as you set the toe to 0 you won't have any wear issues due to the added camber.
cant wait for the end product
I live in a desert climate. My truck is 32 years old, my suv is 19 years old and my convertible is 29 years old. No rust on them at all. Love it.
I enjoy your videos. When are you going to make more video of the Nissan GTR?
Sweet! Great episode. Love seeing the in depth builds. Still the best channel on UA-cam
Greta job picking those wheels!
LEAVE THE V// !! Just shows the diligence that went into the build; I love it. I'd get the skirts color matched also...but that's just me! Can't wait to see it on the AWD dyno!! Loved these cars as a kid! You're living the dream, Alex!!
Alex, that was one of the first videos of yours I seen! Former LS1Tech member myself since like 07. I was also a DSMtuners member since around 2000
Man, I just love how long and complete your videos are. Good entertainment!!
So need to align the center cap logo with the one on the spoke
