Next time you're removing stickers from windows, I'd take either a heat gun, or even a blow dryer would be hot enough to the stickers as you're scrapping them. It'll soften the adhesive and make removing them a lot easier and less risk of scratching the glass. But great find on the GTR!

Pre-covid, I paid mid 40s for my 09 , no accidents. with 63k miles. 2 keyfobs, first thing i did, was trans, paid around 7k for the trans, rebuild by shep. also 2 owner car :) previous owner did upgrade the LCD screen from newer year gtr so i do have a back camera, now im at 82k miles, car been great!! :) congrats!

Canadian here - those are daytime running lights. They stay on because people will forget to turn on their lights in poor weather conditions which are common to the great white north.

Dodson makes some of the best bike transmissions for gtr’s. Upwards of 2000hp in some builds. VERY well known in the gtr community. This was the buy of the year for you I’m sure. $46k for a lightly modded gtr with a built trans leaves a fair amount of funding for maybe some 6266 snails (1000hp+ maybe?) and fueling system.
I love how far your channel has come in the multiple years I’ve been watching. You give me old school power block feels from spike tv. PLEASE don’t ever go mainstream production and lose this feel.

Probably not. I'm a dealer, I buy from the exact same sale Alex is bidding on. Better deals come up. Had a completely built GTR on that sale about 5 months ago go for 42k. Didn't have tra s codes, engine codes, etc. Ran on e85. I test drove it. It was a way better deal than Alex overpaying $9,000 on the red GTR.

I think you made a really good find with this GTR. I live love love these cars so I'm so happy that you now have one the channel. They're usually bullet proof once the servicing is done as needed so I'm pretty confident that the Trans adaptation took care of the issue. Anyways, I'm stoked for you and I hope that you enjoy this awesome piece of engineering.👍
I'm glad it turned out this way for you. I've just bought a 2018 Honda civic from auction. Getting it delivered over the next couple of days. Engine starts up but we don't know about running. Gonna keep me busy for a couple of weeks.

@@oliverjantz1108i always wait till i can barely see to turn my headlights on in my tractor trailer but i drive with my park lights on 24/7 ... if you can't see my 70' long 13'6" tall 8' wide truck at dusk with 70+ park lights lit up then that's a you thing
DRLS are not suitable for nighttime. Usually half the brightness, typically no back marker lights, no license plate lights. Makes it difficult at night when you are overtaking and you can't see the car in front of you.

ps- I store my GT-R often time for 6+ Months out of the year (Illinois weather). Just like Dodson noted, if your battery voltage is low the car will often times throw the transmission error codes. Mine goes away after the battery is charged and the codes are cleared. I own a 2011 GTR with a 2015 Motor/Trans. I'm so excited that a GT-R is now in the LSC fleet!

My childhood growing up was always getting cars that I can customize take the engine apart and changing wheels making them look cooler. You've definitely made my dream your reality and I applaud you for that. Definitely gained a follower but most importantly one that I can look up to

Canadian here (and have brought cars in from the states). Yep DRL required up here to be enabled at import.
Also since it was an American car brought into Canada it likely had the cluster swapped since the speedo also had to be converted since the speedo was in km. Govt requires you to put cheesy stickers on the speedo with the new numbers but most people replace the cluster. The cluster likely did the Imperial to metric odometer conversion internally and won't display the Imperial so you can't falsely display it lower. If you swap back for a Imperial cluster it'll probably show the right mileage.
Those clusters switch the numbers between kph/mph digitally. Dealers can do it with their diag computer I highly doubt the cluster was swapped.
Also yeah all canadian vehicles after 1991 require the daytime running lights.

I've imported cars from USA to Canada and never had to swap a speedo.....the only mod I had to do was drl.

You hit a HOMERUN on this one Alex. With a built trans. You can upgrade those turbos, tune it and it will obliterate the Trans am. All wheel drive with north of 1,000 hp is an absolute beast. With the mileage and condition, you did so good. Love this car. And the channel. Been watching from the beginning. You deserve this Alex. Specially after all the trouble the Benz has put you through. Can’t wait to see some mods on this

Hey Alex. Those are daytime running lights, they are always on even with the key just turned on. And the car is in kilometres not miles, so it has 64,000 kilometres. You got a steal of a deal.

24:42 As a Canadian I can confirm that 'always-on' daytime running lights are a legal requirement for cars in Canada. Even with the light switch set to "off" cars in Canada are still required to have some portion of the headlights on at all times.

Instant new subscriber here 👌 Reminds me of the time a buddy of mine here in the UK bought an R32 Skyline GTS-T in about 2006 for £700 because it had a flat tyre and a misfire. The tyre pumped up and held pressure, and the misfire was fixed with a coil and a second hand fuel pump 😅 First American UA-cam channel I've found where the presenter doesn't irritate me to death, so thank you for that! As a Canadian, yes daytime running lights are required by law but the way they are implemented differs from model to model. Many of them can be turned off when parked, on the GTR they turn off when the headlights are on, though there is a common mod to prevent that.

ShepTrans or John Sheppard is also a God of the DSM community. I'd love to see a shop tour of their place. I went to watch him race many times in the 90s/2000s. He innovated from the start in both DSMs and R35s. Maybe a 2 vehicle collab in the future with that shop

You should ask Emilia Hartford about her once worlds fastest C8 Corvette. She used Dodson clutches holding 1000hp plus to help set the records.
I currently have an 09 gtr FBO with turbos and built trans. If Shep doesn't have record of the car try Jacks Transmission. They are another trans builder that has been around since the early days. I will say if this has a full aftermarket gear set it was making some real power at one point. Would be worth checking the block as well for forged internals.

@@donaldhewitt100 Do you need an inspection or is it registered and everything already? As long as you aren't driving around at night with no headlights It's very unlikely cops would care/notice at all. If you need an inspection you're hooped though.
@@travisdegen8428 we have to get inspections every two years ! Or if we buy a car from someone a new safety inspection has to be put on . We don’t do emissions like smog though. And cops here pull you over for no day time running lights no matter what sadly .. here anyway . They pull you over for anything they can …
The confusion on the odometer makes sense. Typically the unit is the same as whatever the speedometer uses. It's pretty uncommon to switch out a speedometer without also changing the odometer over.

As someone who works at carvana. Number one they have very little time to diagnose and inspect vehicles so I makes sense that they would get the mileage wrong. And number 2 yes we do try to fix most transmission problems by either a fluid change or buying a new one and I'm sure carvana didn't want to buy one so they put it on auction

A N Other Canadian here - Canadian winters explain the lack of rust - chemical reactions stop at absolute zero! 😂
In BC and Alberta they don’t use as much salt as us Canadians and Alex up here in the North East which likely explains the lack of corrosion.
@@ve3nsv we don’t use salt in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba due to the temperature. I live in Winnipeg no salt just gravel.
Here is South Africa also. All cars come with daytime running lights.

The dealer it came from is Dilawri Nissan.
If this is true. Alex, have the vehicle fully inspected. Don't trust any car that comes out of the Toronto area. Could be a Canadian Tire Ricky racer. First sign is the front spoiler add on.

i just polished and ceramic coated a red GTR 2 days ago THEY ALSO had ac transmission problem but the dealer fixed it it was the clips. i freakin love this car
Nissan are all I've been driving for the last 30 years. Most reliable and least issues of anything I've owned in 50 years. So underrated. Congrats on your awesome GTR.

I bought a clean one owner 95 Chevy pickup. Ac blew ice cold but the compressor was making a lot of noise so ti save from it blowing up and putting metal in the system I threw a new compressor on it yesterday charged it. This old truck is all original paint and it really clean. Even the inside of the bed never hauled more then maybe trash bags. It doesn’t even have any dents in the bed or on the top of the bed rails. I love it. Only the 4.3 WT edition but we can 350 swap it later. For now I’m enjoying it a lot.
If it blew up, you MUST replace the condenser, orfous tube, and the dryer. The dryer has a rubber bladder in it and will get cut up and it will grow the metal back into the new compressor. If you don't replace all these, that compressor warranty is voided if it breaks. Just a heads up.
Condenser, orfous tube, and dryer are only about $150 more on top of the compressor. If you are DIY. Once you have all apart, get AC flush. Use a shop air compressor bottle that you pour the cleaner into and then blow it through the lines one by one until they are all clear. DO NOT USE WATER!¡!!!!! It it's just the AC lines and no expansion or orfous tube, you can use brake clean.
@@MikeHarris1984 I know but it didn’t blow up. When I charged it it had a rattle in it and I unplugged it. There was no metal or aluminum in the system so I just changed the compressor.

As soon as I saw all the gunk in the valve body I thought that was the issue.
Apparently, there is also a low voltage issue which is super easy to fix. Congrats to your new car. :)

This is by far the best YT channel related to automotive content for cars I am generally interested in. As stated multiple time, i started watching because of the original E55 content. After that a bunch of other interesting AMGs and other cars have been worked on.
