Bought the distributor tool based on your video for my bambino… I had almost given up on the bottomless portafilter… instantly fixed all the issues I was having. Stock portafilter is in the trash. Thank you for your video!
You will need stock Portafilter when you need split double shot. 🙂👍
@@AjusCafe I meant to say stock Tamper is in the trash. Thanks again!
Awesome, I too have the bottomless portafilter and the Distribution Tool, but just aren't there yet with extraction ! (The 2nd extraction looked magic ! )
It's something to do with the beans. Have you tried another beans? Also are they freshly roasted?
@@AjusCafe Yep, you are so right, these were grocery store bought...let me go find a local roaster... Thank you for the awesome work! Please keep your video's coming.
@@RekimNZ thank you Mike. Its easy to roast at home too. Have a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/gGnhba65nkQ/v-deo.html
@3:50 you can still see the silver portion even when you just said make sure you cannot see it. So I suspect that you under tampered it. However the adjustable distribution tool would be less error prone as you tamper it until it can go no further whereas with the Breville one you have to judge with your eye. Great video, I now understand channeling. Thanks.
Good observation. Yes i see its marginally visible from the top angle, so maybe you are right 😃👍
On 2nd observation at 9:45sec I see silver line of 2-in-1 tamper as well... so its even now 😃👍. Anyway I've mentioned this is my other video regarding setting the correct razor height video that, after tamping the grinds expands a bit.
Downward angle
Very good! Do more experiment and can you show us why you are using different tool instead of the original tool?
Thank you. All accessories are for convenience and to make better coffee.
Got yourself a new sub here! Just got a machine myself and making all kind of mistakes. Most of my shots have been sour but I like it. However, I want to find those dark chocolate and marshmallow notes. I'm thinking my tamping is off... and now seeing the difference right there I'm going to get myself one of these.
My scale seemed to be off today and don't fit in on the BBE well. What scale are you using here? And what tamper?
Also, are your pucks always supposed to be wet like yours? Mine consistently are but I thought they are supposed to be complete dry/solid?
Great video , can you share the link from aliexpress to buy it , please

Greetings.. here is the link m.aliexpress.com/item/1005001584620587.html?spm=a2g0n.orderlist-amp.item.1005001584620587&aff_trace_key=1cd904dfb9b1426dacd3a86c3cb98630-1613358675559-06071-UneMJZVf&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=8799amp-tyzrbbU_PHh2CZnbxMJHaQ1614487634944&browser_id=f3a01a9d00394de7b898a05cd0208124&is_c=N
Have become a big fan of this channel, some great content. Can you help me with an issue I keep getting with my Barista Express? An 18g dose at grind setting 8 gets into the 12/1 o clock perfect pressure area, but comes out too fast. An 18g dose at a finer setting of 7 chokes and is over pressure. What do you recommend I do? A bigger dose at grind 8 or a smaller dose at grind 7? Whatever I seem to do, it seems to come out too quickly. Any tips?
Thank you for those kind words. Regarding your issue, I would go for the 1st option for minor adjustments, i.e. 18g at Grind size 8, but I'll increase the dose by 0.25g and see. So try with 18.25g, 18.5g etc and see which one taste better. Some beans are hard to dial in. So ensure you filter basket is clean and you could see all the holes against the light.
@@AjusCafe Thanks for the reply! Will try adding an extra .25g next time.
I think a fairer comparison would have included Brevilles distribution tool and tamper as 2 products vs a 2 in one product
Breville's Distribution Tool? Do they have one?
@@AjusCafe I was referring to the one that comes with the Breville Barista Express. The Razor called a trimming tool however it is designed to be a distribution tool.
@@whittierlibrarybookstore3708 oh i see what you mean. But its near impossible to use Razor as a Distribution tool. It will always chop or trim the grinds above its height i.e 7.5mm. After using Razor if you tamp, its going to go down below razor height in the Portafilter. And there won't be 19g of Grinds to compare. Its used only to trim the height, so that it sit right below the GroupHead.
That's why i use Weiss method , so that I didn't waste any of 19g in both comparision. To get Razor height, ensure you don't see the silver portion of Breville Tamper(which is 7.5mm height as Razor). And yes i could have run the razor tool after tamping in both to show the height comparison. Thanks.
@@AjusCafe Thank you for the detailed reply!
@@whittierlibrarybookstore3708 you are welcome and thanks for asking.
What size is the basket holder...53mm?
54mm Portafilter.
Do you have a link for that distribution tool? Thank you! Love your videos!
Thanks again! Very helpful tips.
