Mine doesn’t have any numbers , and flow is too fast and pressure is 11😔 nothing is helping
8:20 also just ask your local roaster at what age is best to use their beans. For example one of my local roasters recommends waiting to use their beans for espresso 4 weeks off the roast date, and to make sure you finish them within 2-4 weeks after that. (Greater Goods Coffee In Austin TX, to make the plug)
Oh vow 4 weeks? Never came across that long rest. Usually 4 days is ideal and by that time it would have degassed well. Yes Its better to ask the roaster.
Please check regular basket.
Regular basket will get no pressure
How to have pressure with only regular basket? Thats the question most of people ask. Thank you much
what a royal pain in the butt that this coffee maker is to use. holy Toledo. My DeLonghi gave me many great years of service until it quit. I'm sure glad I didn't get one of these
Great video on explaining the different variables for making better espresso
Thank you Todd for your feedback
How many grams of coffee beans go in the hopper
Great video, thanks.
Enternel burr is 3 external 2 but it doesn’t have maximum pressure. What’s the problem?
Change beans. Get freshly Roasted beans which are Roasted not more than 2 weeks ago
Great videos .. very helpful! Thank you!
Welcome
Thanks for explaining about the water temperature! 🙂👍 the temperature of my coffee was too low, wasn't sure if this could be regulated. It stood on 1st position and now I put it on 3rd position, now I am very satisfied😜
Great. Also try to warm up cups before the shot. That helps to retain heat.
Good what about Your wife?
Thank you so much!
Spent several hours more trying to solve the low pressure issues on our 6.5 year old Breville Barista Express yesterday. Hubby was ready to throw it in the bin. "I just want to try one last thing," I told him. In between thorough cleaning and descaling, changing coffee beans, replacing the steam ring shower head, and brushing out the upper and lower burrs, my husband and I watched a few different UA-cam videos to see if we could (a) best solve the issue and/or (b) find a better new model to invest in. Your videos have been most helpful! My last fix was to check and ajust the setting on the top burr from number five to number one. After putting it all back together I pulled one more shot. Bingo! Great pressure and a great-tasting espresso. "You are a genuis," came the response. The man of the house, who uses this machine more than I do, was all smiles. Not only could he enjoy his morning latte, but I'd saved us several hundred dollars on the purchase of a replacement. Thanks again for the great advice.
Thank you for the videos. We are on our 2nd breville barista express since 2019 and this one seems to be dying. No pressure and no flow. We tried all of your tips and keep up to date on maintenance. How long should these machines last?
I have few BBE machines and none died. Its more than 5 or 6 years
I got mine in 2016 and it’s still running well with little maintenance, aside from cleaning. On average, it has made about 4-5 lattes / americanos per day. I have had some pressure issues with the steam in the last month though which I’m trying to resolve.
@@AjusCafe thanks for that comment. We actually tried running vinegar through the descaling. We felt that the solenoid was jammed as the pucks were kind of messy. Seems to have helped increase the pressure somewhat, not perfect but will go through that process again.
Gosh.. I've purchased this device a while ago and I've been having a below average espresso ever since, and with this video I finally managed to sort out the issue (which was me, apparently)...
My machine has started recently only having a somewhat reduced water flow and the pressure gauge doesn't seem to be working at all. Any ideas on how to fix it? I have tried cleaning - descaling - changing grind settings - doing the test with the double basket (pressure valve doesn't move at all)
Sorry to hear that. Do this and let me know the result ua-cam.com/video/acQYG7HkYb4/v-deo.htmlsi=ACQNR1Bt5X14VY62
Hey! Thanks for replying. I tried to do that test earlier with the double basket but the pressure gauge doesn't move at all during it. Water does come out but the pressure valve stays on zero
Also, it doesn't seem to be just the pressure valve, the machine isn't really able to produce an espresso, some coffee comes out but no crema and not a lot. I am going to give it a few days before deciding whether to give up on it and buy a new machine 🫣
I want to thank you for your informative videos. I finally got my BBE working after video #3. I performed all your tips and then proceeded to purchase a fresh/new bag of whole bean coffee. It worked perfectly! Thanks again for all your helpful ideas and tips!
We were unable to remove the internal basket because of all the ground coffee that was jammed in there any suggestions how to get that out
thank you for this very helpful video 😊
Thank you so much it was very
helpfull
Again, very helpful. Thank you
Ok. Here is my question. I've tried all these. The problem is it was all working fine 5 days ago. I'm not sure what happened but suddenly the pressure won't go up. I checked with the clean cycle, and it went allll the way up. So I'm really confused what changed. The coffee beans are the same as were 5 days ago. The only thing I started using steamer more often. That's the only change that happened. Do you have any clues?
When did you last run the Descale cycle? Not clean cycle, but Descale
Thank you, i hope this helps and the extraction drip likr honey
You are my life saver. Just got into the espresso game. I got myself a preowned Breville Barista Express. Was struggling to get the sweet shot up until I watched your video. Very detailed video done. Thank you 🙏🏻
You are welcome 😊
Hi sir, I try with pressured busket to tested the machine. But this pressure still not go up to 12.
I only get pressure only 10 to 11 only.
Pls can advise how to fix low pressure issues.
Sounds normal. Here is how to do proper pressure test ua-cam.com/video/acQYG7HkYb4/v-deo.html
Please help! I have Descalled, reset water volume, adjust grind fineness but am still barely getting espresso. There is however adequate pressure.
1. How many ounce of water do you get when you press single and double cup size. Just by running water.

This video was very clear and helpful!!!
Thank you my fellow Canadian! You help me fix my problem for my own barista express. love your dog too!
Thank you 🙂 🇨🇦
If you reach the right pressure but your fow is too quick you should look into changing you OPV settings
How do you change the OPV setting in BBE?
Thank you, you safe my time
lastima .. pueda q puedas saber mucho.. y q puedas saber como poder solucionar mi problema ..... pero no se nada de ingles...ahhhhhh... i dont speak english
¿Cuál es el problema con su máquina?
Should the shot take 20 seconds with the pressure basket in?
It depends on the freshness of beans, grind size, Tamping pressure etc. Also do you know you can manually control this by pressing the button again at desire temperature? Watch my video series on Manaul mode too
thanks, aju and skittles, for making a half day of troubleshooting my BBE much better! still working on getting everything down just right, but i look forward to coming to your channel for all my troubleshooting needs (and, soon, latte art tutorials!). happy new year to you both!
Glad to hear that and thank you.
Hello, thank you, where can we buy a inline filter in Canada?
Call Breville Canada and they will help
I am so looking forward to buying this machine soon. Thank you again for such useful detailed information. Say "Hi" to Skittles 🙏
Thank you... I'll tell her 🙂👍
This espressos machine makes great coffee, but finding parts to replace is almost impossible, the biggest down side, if your machine solenoid fails there is no where to be find, even Breville itself will not sell you one, so you lose $600. I got the Breville 870XL, and is useless I can't find the part for it, and this machines are common to fail in about 2 years of service. I would NOT recommend this espresso machine to anyone
Hi Aju, another great video, got a lot of good information out of it. Thanks
Good to hear that Shane
Thanks Aju. After I pull the espresso shot, I hear the sound of boiling water in my Breville Infuser. Is it normal, or I have an issue with my machine.
That sounds normal. Usually you hear the boiling sound in bigger commercial machines
Thank you so much. I was about returning the machine. :)
Snow, Skittles and Coffee. What a great combination for a cold winter's day. Love the clarity and narrative. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏. Its a beautiful day here.
I can’t change my internal burr setting.
If the settings are missing, then don't worry. You might have bought the first generation BBE. But good news is, you can buy the new top burr part which is adjustable from breville or Amazon.
If you don't wanna buy it, you can still get great espresso by buying freshly Roasted beans which is Roasted and consumed in 3-4 weeks. Buy in small quantity from your local roaster.
Hi, new subscriber here:) I not sure if something is wrong with my Barista express. Once I make my expresso, the coffee in my portafilter is always wet, any advice please?
Thanks for subscribing. See this video ua-cam.com/video/7wN1wA_A9Sc/v-deo.html
Did you ever figure it out? Mine is too!!!!
Thank you for all the videos! Very helpful
Thanks for the feedback 👍
Don’t throw the old beans out 😁. Just use them in a different way. Look up some recipes for other household uses for old coffee/beans.
You got a point there. Now that you mentioned I see other uses of stale coffee beans. I shouldn't have said to throw away 🙂
@@AjusCafe Lol, no problem. Just thought I would mention it just in case. I’m a little frugal like that.
Excellent info again.
Thank you
You Aju are a legend.
🙂👍
Excellent job!
Thank you
I liked the video
Thank you
Nice video!
Thank you
Mine does not have the numbers you show at the beginning
Check if your model Number is BES870XL? It must be written on the machine, at the back. You need to remove the water tank to see it. Please let me know. Older model like BES860XL doesn't have the adjustable burr.
Hey, maybe you could help me, when I make a single espresso the pressure gauge shows up at 11am and then after a few seconds it jumps to high pressure, why ??
?
This espressos machine makes great coffee, but finding parts to replace is almost impossible, the biggest down side, if your machine solenoid fails there is no where to be find, even Breville itself will not sell you one, so you lose $600. I got the Breville 870XL, and is useless I can't find the part for it, and this machines are common to fail in about 2 years of service. I would NOT recommend this espresso machine to anyone
Depends on your location. If you are in USA side you can get. Where is your location?
@@AjusCafe I'm in the U.S, and there is no way to get esencial parts for this machine except for the water pump and it can be easily get it from Amazon, but the solenoids for this machine are impossible to get. I know be cause did my search before posting my experience. But if you have a place to get the parts please post your link to get the parts. Thanks!
@@CulichorHimself www.ereplacementparts.com/solenoid-valve-assembly-p-629955.html
Also check Ebay
@@AjusCafe I did my search, the link you are posting do NOT have parts on stock, since 2018 for this espresso machine, and they don't when will they have on stock! I did check on them last week, Thanks for the help.
@@CulichorHimself oh i see. You should get those Ebay ones atleast. If not get a used machine and strip for parts.
